  1. While not me personally, but we had a large group travel to Alaska and in one the Caribe balcony cabins, there were 3 women in their 60's in one cabin and no one wanted the upper bed. So they got a roll away that they would put on the balcony folded up then at turn down the steward would bring in and set up.

Of course there was not any adverse weather on this trip. I do understand it was tight but they did prefer it to the alternative.

  2. Susan,

Looks like we are on the same voyage in October. We also are in Venice a couple of days before we sail and plan on photographing the arrival of the Regal as she sails in. I'm sure CruiseCal or other site can give us the projected arrival site in addition to the information on the Princess site for the planned itinerary arrival.

This will be when she sails into Venice for the first time. As Dave has pointed out they will have the christening cermony etc ahead of time, so I am not sure if they will occur on 5/19, and if the ship will arrive even earlier for getting all of the supplies on board.

We arrive in Venice on 5/17 around lunch time, so we should be there for when she sails in the first time.

  3. Dave,

I really appreciate all the information you have provided, I read the Royal thread even though I was not sailing on her but on the Regal and was excited when you posted this thread.

We are one of the ones who switched to stay on the madien voyage, but we will be in Venice for a few days ahead of the cruise and would love to see her sail in and catch some pictures.

Two years ago we were in Venice and I caught pictures of the Sea Princess sailing in from the 2nd level at St. Marks and would love to repeat for the Regal.

If you hear anything of when she might arrive it would be great to know.

Thanks for all your work in generating these threads.

  4. We had initially booked the 17 day on the Regal 6/2/14, in October they sent an email stating that the ship would debut early and offering us a chance to change our reservation to the new 20 sailing staring 5/20/14 for the same price or we could our original booking but it would not be the maiden voyage any longer. They gave us about 25 days to make a decision before bookings were opened up to others.

We decided go with the earlier sailing as we liked the ports better and less repeats, as we have sailed many of the ports prior.

We are looking forward to this trip.

  5. We have travelled since our kids were little, we have gone to many countries, both via land and cruises. We do not have a lot of money and have forgone extragavant Christmas, Birthday gifts, etc to pay for our travels. We have always used the thought making memories is much more lasting than having "stuff". They did not get the new gaming system or a bunch of video games, we did not buy videos, dvds or really go to the movies more than 2-3 times per year. The youngest have now graduated from High School and they still talk about the various trips we have taken over time. They still look forward to cruising with us, we are planning a trip to the Greek Isles in 2012, and they are saving us and taking another familly vacation together. (this will be an extended family trip with many going, which we do a few years). Last one was in 2009 to Alaska, the kids too had a blast.

No matter future circumstances we all share the many memories we have experienced. Which is much more valuable than the newest video game system, which all these years later would be sooo outdated and not remembered anyway.

That is why we cruise.... to create life long memories, seeing the wonders and majesty of the world...
