Let me guess, you’re also having the Holland America origin story and the BBC movie with the snakes.

Origins was the first night. I’m sure the BBC movie is coming up in the next three weeks. 😂

  2. I’m on the 35 day Hawaii/Tahiti cruise right now. This is my 6th time on this itinerary and the first time it’s been called “legendary”. Seems about the same to me, except for the upgraded tote bag. Same Step One dance performances that I’ve been watching for about 8 years now. I even know what songs are coming next. LOL

  3. I personally don’t have a problem with it. If they get there first and want to play cards, why not? I personally don’t do that, but it doesn’t bother me when others do it. I always find somewhere to sit. Just my opinion. Now, if they left their stuff on the table and weren’t there for more than 30 minutes or so, that would bother me!

I agree.  We  were on the sailing prior to this one and we noticed the final couple of days up on Lido HAL had an employee stationed  near the hand  wash and Purell station and mentioned to every guest to please wash/sanitize.  This had not been happening  earlier in the cruise so I took it  as  a "sign".

We had no issues with noro but one of  us departed with cruise crud and is now recovered.

I prefer the handwashing station over Purell anyday!  Those hand washing stations are  wonderful!

Yes, I believe it was already on board when we got on. The first day I had a salad and my spouse had beans and we both had minor GI issues very shortly afterwards.

  5. I don’t know what the status is with the GI issues on board, but yesterday I witnessed a man pick up cheese off the cheese board in the lido with his hands and eat it. I must be getting braver in my old age because I called him on it and said it was terrible and gross. “Well, no one is here to serve me and I only touched what I’m eating” was the reply. I just shook my head. Dude! Really???

  6. I was just on a social media site and someone in a HAL group posted that they were charged for a plain, regular coffee in the specialty restaurant (Tamarind and Pinnacle) and that they were told it would now be an extra charge for both coffee and tea. Has anyone else heard of this or had it happen to them? I find it hard to believe that plain coffee and tea would be an extra charge. I know that specialty coffees are an extra charge, but plain, black coffee?

    🤣quit buying non-refundable fares!   I would definitely try.  …….

and next cruise buy a wallet full of Future Cruise deposits. 😉

You are correct! My fare was refundable. I won’t buy non-refundable anymore. I learned that lesson. 😜 But, I’m way past final payment, so the cancellation fees have kicked in. And, of course, I didn’t get insurance. I will be trying to get the monies transferred to a new cruise. 🤞

ave an itinerary selected, better is to have it on courtesy hold so that the one you want to move to has a booking number. Odds are better if the new one is not at/near capacity.

Your request when you call is to have what you've paid moved to booking xxx (the one on courtesy hold). When it's transferred, it will likely show as non-refundable but some have reported they've seen it as refundable on the new booking.

I wonder if this would work on a cruise I’ve already booked for 2025, but have only paid the deposit? What do you think? I know this is all speculation. I guess I should just call. LOL

From my experience, cancelling  a few days prior to cruise (family passing) you are not eligible for refund or transfer.  I did not have HAL insurance but was able to claim some expenses through credit card coverage.

I looked and have a bit of coverage through my credit card, so that helps.

You can talk to HAL and see if they will transfer the booking to another sailing - have one already picked out.  @Haljo1935 can better explain the airline process .

Certain credit cards have insurance, check to see if yours does

Boy, it would be great if they would transfer funds to another cruise! Have you ever heard of that happening? I know I should just call HAL, but I’m putting it off for a few more days.

  11. Hoping someone can tell me the answer to this question without me having to call Holland. It’s looking like I may have to cancel an upcoming cruise. I don’t have insurance. If I cancel before September 12, the cancellation fee is 75% of the “gross fare”. My question is: “Does the gross fare include the port fees and taxes or is it just the cruise/journey fare?” Thanks in advance.

Do it!  Both knees replaced.  Second one was 3.5 months prior to an Antarctica cruise with Zodiac landings on Antarctica south of the Antarctic Circle.  First two weeks after surgery are the most challenging.  The rest is PT and gaining confidence.  Age 73 at the time.

    Thank you!
