  1. Hope everyone gets home safely and recovers quickly. What will be done to help the crew? I can't imagine cleaning up after that many people who were sick. Above and beyond of what I would want to do. It's not like you are cleaning up after someone in your own family. Will the crew get paid extra and get some time off? Did they still get their tips for the week? I hope RC treats them well.

  2. I don't believe anyone regardless of "status" should be denied entrance to the Viking Crown Lounge during normally expected cocktail time periods. .... period. Sharing the lounge area is fine IMHO but to shut it down to anyone who's not "top tier" at those times is wrong.

I agree. The Viking Crown is a BIG selling point for RC, and people book a cruise expecting to be able to use it.

  3. We are leaving out of Bmore 8.17.12... For those who have done the Bermuda itinerary...what to do??? Would love to hit the caves...the pink sandy beaches...but this means I"m going North Miss Tessmacher (superman reference)...Also...is Chops Grill worth it?

    Thx!

Just off Enchantment and Chops Grill was EXCELLENT! We went twice and loved it! Last night of the cruise we ate there and they had a HUGE WHOLE MAINE LOBSTER that was offered. We both got steak AND shared the lobster. WOW! Shrimp cocktail has HUGE shrimp, veggies are wonderful, potato dishes excellent, meats are tender and tasty, soups and salad were great, and the desserts were to die for! The atmosphere is very romantic and quiet and GREAT service!

  4. I had the same debate and wanted May, but went with my parents and had to go September. We just returned from the Sept. 10 - 17 and had the best weather they stated they have had in a long time. Sunny skies and low 60's in Juneau. When we docked in Skagway it was drizzling, but it burned off and warmed up nicely. Ketchikan, it was cloudy early morning, and again burned off. Glacier Bay it drizzled most of the morning. I was never cold and we ended up dragging our coats around. We left our balcony door open most of the time and even at night when we were sleeping. We saw tons of people in shorts and flip flops. September is the end of the season so most of the stores in port were 50% off of everything.

From all my research our experience was the expection and not the norm. We were so glad it was not cold and raining the entire trip. You just never know. Book what will work for you at the price you are willing to pay and hope for the best. We did and totally lucked out.

Ditto on the beautiful weather for those dates! I didn't need a coat at all. I used a rain poncho only on the Glacier viewing day as it was rainy. It was smooth sailing and lots of sun. I was sweating on some of our hikes. Loved all the bargains I got on socks, outerwear, coffee, etc. Awesome time. Weather is unpredictable but Sept. suited our party the best and we lucked out!

  5. I had the best potato salad and seafood salad off of the Indian buffet on EOS. I loved it. I didn't taste curry at all. In fact I was wondering why it was at that station. I also found these noodles that were wonderful. I like a variety. They always had mashed potatoes, gravy, meats, cold-cuts, salads, veggies, pastas, etc. so I think they are doing a good job with the variety.
