  1. I'm confused about social package not including snapchat. This is from the carnival funshop website: Is it only that way on certain ships?

    SOCIAL WI-FI PLAN

    $4.29 / DAY

Access the most popular social websites and applications. Includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Linkedin, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, SnapChat and the most popular airline sites. Does not include access to most other websites or apps.

  2. Fair enough. A lot of people cite convenience. I may be in the minority of it needing to pencil out in my favor. There's many different perspectives.

I figure that once I've bought the package, it doesn't really matter if it was the best decision, I can't go back. So, I just HOPE that I make it worth it (and will probably look at things at the end of each day) and that gives me info for the NEXT cruise. Our June cruise will be our first time for Cheers. I'm thinking that the non-alcoholic stuff will actually help to make this come out in our favor without much of an issue. Being able to grab bottles of water, etc, will make it nicer so that I don't feel the need to try to cart stuff onto the ship with me to save money.

  3. We've never had an issue taking our kids out of school to travel. The life lessons learned are soooo worth it for us!

    Some things to consider:

Double check if there are finals for Middle School. Our middle school has finals the LAST TWO DAYS of school....the option is there to take them early, but????

How important is the end of the year stuff to your kiddos? Yearbook signing, parties, etc etc. Esp if you have one that will be moving from Elementary to Middle?

As for November...how much work do you think they would have to do while you were away, and/or when they get back. We have great students, but now that they are Middle School level, we don't mess with more than a day out of school if possible. It's just not worth how much time they have to spend on the vacation doing work and/or making stuff up when they get back. They also do so many group projects in MS, that it can be a real pain in the rear.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll have an amazing time!!!

  4. Our girls, 14 and 12, will be in the Circle C for the first time on our next cruise, and so will be able to come and go as they please. They will have the HUB app and know that they will have to stay together at all times. They are responsible kids, and we will give them some freedom (ie, to leave the club and get ice cream, things like that), so long as they communicate to us where they plan to be. I think it helps that there are two of them. I sure couldn't be so lax with just one.

Maybe our family is in the minority? I don't see a need for them to be all over the place alone. I'm comfortable with them walking around most places, and I'm sure they will a bit (they tend to put together videos, and will probably take a lot of photos) but don't want them heading to our room (Empress) really. Whether or not it makes sense, we will have them stick around us more so after evening falls.

Maybe it's just the kids I have? We actually tend to hang out together on the ship (their grandparents who live 5 states away will be along as well). We play cards and trivia, see shows together, eat meals together, swim, etc etc. If we leave the ship, they come with us. For us, our cruise purpose is to spend time together, not apart. However, this will differ for others. To each their own.

And, to your question, we've seen kids (usually at least preteen) running around all over alone...some behaving wonderfully, and some acting like I wanted to shout, "where are you parents?". It all depends on what YOU and THEY are comfortable with.

  5. Got some the last two Fridays through Verizon! My mom got some through AARP, as well. FWIW, I also tried what someone mentioned on here to circumvent the "max purchase" for a day....bought 4X$100 in one transaction, then bought 5X$100 in another. Seems the trigger to max out is 5 at one time, rather than 5 in a day. By the time we logged on, the $500 cards were already sold out. It was early afternoon.
