  1. Hi Nonna

The problem is that both the Radiance and Ovation are in Sydney that day.

It looks like they are giving the Ovation priority at the Overseas Passenger terminal at Circular Quay (where you would have previously docked on the Solstice).

For White Bay the ships have to go under the Harbour bridge. Radiance cannot fit.

It will be anchored in Sydney Harbour.

The will check you in at White Bay and then tender all passengers to the Radiance.

There is talk on the Australian/New Zealand board.

Will see if i can link it or you.

  2. So....just to confirm, Sun Princess is able to fit under the harbour bridge and will berth at White Bay terminal which means we will just take a taxi to the terminal and board the ship there...no tendering involved.

    Hi Mattie00

As per your signature if you are going on 7 March 2017, Sydney ports has Sun Princess at White Bay. It has Emerald Princess at the OPT (it can't fit under the bridge.)

this is a link to the sight for your information.

  3. Solstice was docked stern in to Princes Wharf when we cruised on her last Christmas. I don't think the bow poked out past the Hilton but I must admit I didn't really take that much notice.

The QM2 is longer than Solstice and I believe she had to berth at Jellicoe Wharf.

Was on the QM2 March 2015 and yes we overnighted at Jellicoe wharf. They had to bus us to Shed 10 as we were in the very busy container area and it is a secure area.

Can see them argreeing to this for one off liners like QM2, but not for ones that want to come on a regular basis.

The ships dock in such a great place, it would be a shame if they can't work it out.

I wouldn't want to be tendering in Auckland.

  4. Just about to go on my 9th solo cruise ( and have done land travel solo as well)

Other than the dreaded single supplement, it is the attitude of some others passengers. It is the ones who look at you like you are an inconvenience and in the way. This mainly applies to the buffet and lounge areas.

If you are sitting at a table for 4 (because that was all that was available) you get the death stare for taking up too much space!!!

I think they forget we all paid our fare, some of us more:p

However I have met many lovely people who have asked if they can share with me.

  5. I was very sad to hear of Egon's passing. My condolences to Steve and family.

It was amazing to see how one man touched the life of so many people around the world who never actually met him, but he was still a very special friend.

  6. Have just booked my 7 th solo

Only time when a situation could have got akeard was when i was in a lounge and a gentleman sat down near me and started talking. He was pleasant enough but I got an uncomfortable feeling. When I had finished my drink I excused myself and said I was off to meet my cabin mate.

    Never saw him again!

  7. Hi all

I have been following Egon's thread from the very beginning and was surprised and saddened by his news.

Lots of prayers and thoughts are going his way and I hope that the news is positive.

    Barbara
