How do we know which ones are the wrap-around balconies?
The cabins with the wrap around balconies are suites. I know because we are on that cruise as well. Deck 9 aft corner suite. we always get an aft suite. Best view by far.

Thanks for sharing your cruise. Beautiful photos. Can't wait to try Moderno on the Star in Jan. I know the Dawn has her detractors, but I always liked the Dawn class ships.

Gee wiz I hope there was no graft or illegal pay offs involved.

This is really dependent on the staff. We boarded with suite passengers once when we were in a balcony (total strangers that we shared a cab with to the pier). Some make it seem like it's definitely not possible, but is is possible.
Slip the concierge a twenty, before you ask. Done.:p

Does anyone know who is the concierge on the Star now and if they will remain on for the western caribbean?
-
Has anyone heard anything about the progress? Sailing Jan. 3rd.

Does the deck wrap around, or did they block it off? We are on the Star in Jan. and deck plans show it is still a wrap around.

Good thing they don't call it a mini penthouse. Calling the cabin a deluxe balcony makes so much more sense. NCL must have to clarify the same question hundreds of times a week. Why they refuse to change, I have no idea.

The story I heard claims that Ruth and Carlos Zarate started together in a London Sales Office (Armando may have been there too).
The story goes on to say Andy Stuart started there as well.
Ruth was great. Any chance she will be back on the Star by the new year?

Anyone have any Intel on what the HUGE announcement could be?
I hope it's they found my Ray Bans I left at The Great Outdoors.

I wonder when Del Rio is going to charge for the use of the lifeboats?

"National Lampoon's Vacation" is the greatest cinematic triumph since "Citizen Kane".

Star has just underwent a refurb. Supposed to be a big improvement. I've sailed on the Gem and the Dawn, both sisters to the Jewel and the Star. Liked the Gem better than the Dawn, but we are sailing on the Star in January, and I've heard she is beautiful since the refresh.

I agree that they should call it a deluxe balcony. The mini suite designation has caused A LOT of confusion over the years.

We always book a suite. At that price, I would do it in a heartbeat. You're gonna get spoiled!

How good the package is depends on how much you use it. DW and I both got it as part of a promo as well. We did the Mexican Riviera cruise.
I drink a lot and the wife only drinks a few glasses of wine per day. For her, it would not have paid for itself. For me, it worked out great. On a weekend at home I will drink a 12 pack of beer watching football in the afternoon. On the ship, I started with bloody mary's at 8am, then had beers all day and finished with foo foo drinks in the evening.
I have done this cruise so often I did not get off the ship. Had I paid for the promo (which you really do, they raise the cruise price to cover it) I cost them money. On past cruises I would have had a 12 pack easily on a port day. Beer was $12 each, so a minimum of $84 per day. I would guess with the other drinks, I had easily $120 a day bar bill, but all free with the UBP.
Were we paying for it individually I would buy it and the wife would not.
If I drank that much during the day, I'd be face down in the Stardust before the early show.

We have sailed on many lines. The best being Cunard and Celebrity. We now sail exclusively on NCL, in a suite. The service vs. cost makes it in our opinion one of the best values in cruising. The service has been extraordinary.

Will be on the Star Jan. 3 out of Tampa. I need some people to help me bring the pasta station from the buffet to my cabin.:)
-
Maybe Del Rio will order them to make the food so bad, no one will want to take it back to their cabin.
-
I've heard enough. Does anyone have Frank Del Rio's cell phone #?

itinerary is so so, and you will be chilly for a couple of days.also, in march, might be loaded with spring breakers. i really miss the spirit eastern caribbean out of new york.

we stayed in 9076 on the sun in feb. 08. the cabin location and layout are fantastic. the balcony is huge as well as the bathroom. the only thing it could use is a little updating (no flat panel, worn fabrics etc.), but it is a great cabin.

I'm hoping Ruth. We had her on the Sun a few years ago and she was great. Come to think of it, I've never had a concierge that I wouldn't mind having again.
