  1. Last October we used Bob's Limo for our transfer from the Rome airport to a hotel in Civi. I booked a shared van for our transportation and when we arrived at the airport they picked us up in a nice Mercedes limo at no additional cost to us. Apparently we were the only couple needing a transfer and the shuttle bus was not necessary. The advertised cost of the Mercedes limo was twice that of the shared shuttle van.

  2. You're right! Three explosive devices were left by those two winners in a backpack at the Center

Also the 1970 University of Wisc. Madison bombing. 1 killed-3 injured.

The Weather Underground bombed the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon and several NYPD police stations. Led by William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn who eventually became college professors.

  3. We were on a special commemorative voyage of the Rotterdam that went from Rotterdam to NYC. A large majority of the passengers were Dutch (celebrating the anniversary of the first HAL cruise from Rotterdam to NYC) and they came to party! One night, DW and I were sitting in the Piano bar where the entertainer did nearly an entire set of Dutch drinking songs (sang in Dutch). Suddenly, one of the Dutch men, sitting near us, told the piano player/singer to "sing something in English for our American friends." Have to love the Dutch. On the other hand, not sure I was in any shape to understand the words in English or Dutch. We have about 450 days on HAL, and nearly all the nights would find me in a bar at 10pm...with perhaps 5-10 other passengers.. But that Rotterdam cruise with the Dutch was the most fun we have had on any HAL cruise. Few of our fellow Americans had a clue about the nighttime fun, because as is too typical on HAL...they went to their 8pm show...and then off to bed at 8:45! We are still looking for our first "late night adult comedy show" on HAL...and fear we will be inmates in a Nursing Home before that ever happens.

We've enjoyed comedian Julie Barr on HAL ships. She has performed a late night adults only routine in the show lounge.

  4. Try it with Tanqueray and a lime wedge; no leg cramps . . . Or scurvy.

Excellent advice. :) For more serious cases use the Bombay Sapphire Gin.

  5. United Air Lines has a nice feature regarding the 24 hour check in procedure. When you check in online for your originating flight (to the cruiseport) UAL asks you if you wish to be automatically checked in for your return flight home. It's voluntary, you just check a box. UAL will email your boarding passes or send the check in info to the app on your phone. I still use a fossilized flip phone (no camera,no texting, just talking:)) but at least I'm checked in for my flight home. Maybe other airlines will follow suit.

  6. Stayed at Riverside Hotel in April before our cruise, because of the recommendation from these boards. Hotel was over rated. EXPENSIVE. they charged $27 a night to park our car rental. Rooms were small. The hotel tried to upsell for " nicer room", or " bigger " room. I wouldn't waste my $$ on Riverside Hotel again. Plenty of other less expensive choices.

I believe there is a Motel 6 in Hollywood FL. that may fit your financial parameters.

  7. Checked bag - and double bag it because of the depressurization. I'd pierce the foam inner seal and squeeze out the air to allow room for expansion.

My big question though is, "Why?" Gooey, creamy deliciousness? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

I tried to get two pairs of blindfolds and four cans of whipped cream through airline security. Unsuccessful!!

  8. If you have an early flight out of FLL a way to save precious minutes is to go directly to the skycap upon arrival at the airport. Within a few minutes you will have disposed of your luggage and have received your boarding passes. Then head directly to the security line. We always try to avoid the check in line in the terminal whenever possible.

  9. I'll speak to the FLL issue of having to hold onto your luggage because of ones early arrival at the airport. When we have had this issue we go directly to the skycaps. They have taken our luggage without a problem. I usually have my tip in hand along with my boarding Passes. Good luck.

  10. That presumes United IT is competent enough to change peoples seats to increase availability. I would not presume that.Yeah. I always check UA reservations on Sunday/Monday. Weekends is when they play musical aircraft. Eventually, their computer figures out that an RJ is ill-suited for a TATL.

On my recent TATL this past October my UAL reservation showed that the equipment was to be a Bombardier Q400 ! Thankfully a 767-400 came to the rescue. :)
