We need transport from FLL to Plantation and then Planation to Port Everglade. 2 passengers with  1 checked bag, 1 carryon and 1 personal item each. Which would be better price Larry's Limo or taxi? thx

Question relating to 'Price Match'. We have a Feb19 replacement from Sep 2021 Princess cancellation.  If we cancel Feb 19, do we get FCC for Sept 19 cost? I understand Price Match does not give any FCC if Replacement Cruise is less than original.

I think if you cancel more than 30 days out, your FCC should be put back on your account. Check with Princess Customer Service. I'm not an expert!

Did you check if April cruise includes specialty dining? We are looking at Feb to April change and April includes specialty dining.

We already had gifted specialty dining in April. I don't mind losing 1 night specialty dining; I like the main dining.

  4. I got refund for 2 short January cruises, split between FCC and refund to CC. FCC applied to my April cruise. Customer Service Rep was excellent trying to get me the best possible deal. Took several conversations with her supervisor to get airfare refunded as a FCC. Personal Vacation Protection was also refunded (insurance premium). The only thing I lost was 1 night's specialty dining that Princess had gifted to me earlier.

In the first place, do I need to cruise during the worst outbreak of the pandemic?

In your situation, I would get a quick test before I fly home. If negative, get home and follow CDC guidelines. If positive, get a PCR test to confirm. For a public health clinic, tell them that you got off a cruise ship. Insist on an appointment because of the positive quick test.

In the worst case scenario, you have to make a choice based on your circumstances and travelling companions. I wouldn't take omicron home to my neighborhood.

    Be safe.

Thanks for your thoughts! This is such a hard call!

We returned from the 11/30 Enchanted sailng a few weeks ago so just ahead of this current surge. One port cancelled so 4 sea days on the 10 day cruise.  I like sea days although I would rather not have 10 of them! If I were cruising again in Jan (and I wish I was) I would probably be more concerned about flight delays and cancellations than cruise ship cancellations.  This is not the time to be flying in day of  departure, nor is it a time to have your heart set on a particular port.  Be sure you have travel insurance and scope out alternative flight options, just in case. And know going in that ports can change literally any time.  And get a booster, its just a matter of time before its required imho.

We have B2B2B starting 1/27/22 out of FLL. I would happily sit on my cabin balcony but my concerns are abut flight cancellations and/or testing positive necessitating quarantine in a Florida hotel. I have also heard CDC saying people should quarantine for five days after cruise. How would that affect those of us who have to fly home?

  7. We're doing back to back to back from FLL on Regal Princess, January 27-Feb 12, 2022. Watching the requirements for fully vaccinated. Given the current COVID-19 situation in Florida, we are toying with idea of cancelling. Really want to sail but concerned about risk.

Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate them!

The main problem at Becky's was the flavorless lobster.  I even tried the meat without the roll --  still no flavor.  But no question that the roll was too much.   I'm not a lobster expert and have no idea why the lobster was flavorless, but it was certainly disappointing.

Your lobster was flavorless because it had been previously frozen. Nearly every restaurant on Portland Waterfront serves lobster. I would suggest Portland Lobster Company.

We are on the Norwegian Pearl this May going to Halifax, St John, Bar Harbor, Portland and Newport. Any chance we will see a Moose at any of these Ports. My wife is a little crazy about seeing a moose. We went on an Alaskan Cruise last year and she was bummed out that she did not see one.

If you rent a car, you can drive a half hour north of Portland to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray, ME, You will definitely see one or more moose there. It's a lovely state park.

  10. Princess rep called me yesterday; prompted by an email from me. She said my full refund for March 22nd cruise ( I cancelled on March 17th) was sent to my credit card company on June 9th. Now it's up to credit card company to post to my account. It's taken a long time but I think Princess Cruise Line has done they best they could in an unprecedented situation. I will cruise  with them again...eventually.

Been to Boone's since Harding Lee Smith took over?  Far different from the old place.  Demillo's is overrated based on their previous reputation, and overpriced.

Yes, we went to Boone's February 2019. Service was awful, food was terrible. Never again!

We still like Dimillo's. I have been going there for 50 years ( starting when they were located on the other side of Commercial Street). They are on the their third generation of the same family ownership.   I find the food good, the prices reasonable and the serve consistent.

Virtually everything of interest is within a mile of the pier, so Portland is a walking town (if you don't mind hills and cobblestones).  Eastern Prom park is a nice walk, with views down the Bay.  Brewery tours.  Mailboat run.  Schooner sails in Casco Bay.  Portland Observatory.  Art Museum.  Longfellow Museum.  Victorian Mansion.  Excellent food, Portland is consistently rated as a top foodie destination.  Lobster boat tours.

I have lived most of my life in Portland. I agree with all of the above. In addition, I recommend Casco Bay Ferry ride to Peaks Island.

  13. OP may have sailed last year but thought I would post to help others.I have lived most of my life in Portland.I would recommend taking a Casco Bay Ferry ride to Peaks Island. Ferry terminal is next door to cruise ship terminal. Ferry ticket is less than $8 per adult, half price for children & seniors. You will pass 3 lighthouses on your 15 minute boat ride. You can explore island on foot, by rented bike or golf cart rental. There is a wonderful historic golf cart tour for about $18 pp. Peaks is a quaint village/artist colony with a fishing and military history. Pebble beaches and beautiful scenery. Several good restaurants. We usually have lunch at the Inn at Peaks. You can also grab a takeout picnic and walk up to the military museum which has a wonderful veranda with a million dollar view of the rocky cliffs overlooking the ocean.

  14. I have lived most of my life in Portland. My vote for Irish Pub is Bull Feeney's. It is named for the famous Hollywood pioneering director, John Ford, who was from Portland. His real last name was Feeney. Bull was his high school nickname because he played football for Portland High School ( the second oldest public high school in the USA). There is a statue of John Ford ( Bull Feeney) in the Old Port area of Portland.

Personally I would not. I have a very cheap stainless steel one I have worn several times that looks as cheap as it was. I wear it with a plastic Walmart $10 special watch that looks equally as cheap.
