I am not electronically savvy so please be patient with me, I have an ipad and will be on the sunshine. My dad has an ipad who will be staying home. If I purchase the social package for $5 a day, I will be able to talk to my dad to check in and make sure everything is fine? I am getting nervous because I am leaving him with a bunch of cats to watch and my mom who is sick and knowing that I won't be able to keep in touch while on the cruise is really making me anxious. I just want to make sure I understand.

Jamie Dee will be back on the Sunshine before October. This new guy is new to Carnival and will only be there till the end of August.
does this mean that Jamie dee will be on the 8/29 sailing?

We were on other carnival ship and had late dining. We had to choose between the comedy club or the evening show (comedy club always won). that might be were the confusion is.

Check mousesavers.com. They have options re cars and parking for port canaveral. Personally if I had my own car, I would just park at the port. I dud this one year and didn't have to wait long to park and it was nice to get off ship, get in my car and be on my way. We stay at fairfield inn when we go to disney:
Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista
12191 South Apopka Vineland Road Lake Buena Vista, FL 32836
It is very close to downtown disney but no shuttle to port.

I was just wondering if anyone has stayed on deck 6 and had problems sleeping with the casino sounds/noise.
-
thanks for all the input. I am going to call today and see if I can switch to the interior and save $60.
-
I am currently booked on the sunshine in a porthole on deck 1. If I change it to an inside stateroom on deck 1, it would be $60 cheaper. I have not been in an inside stateroom in so long that I can't remember what it is like. Do you think $60 savings is worth not having a little porthole for some light. We really only spend time in the the stateroom sleeping.

I have cruised many times with my son who has a different last name. No one has ever asked us for a letter. I did once try to get a letter from the father but he refused so we basically just went to the bahamas. If you can get the letter, get it and carry it just in case. You would only need it for when you first board the ship, not when you go to the islands.

Op, I know its been awhile and most people didn't sound sympathetic to your plight but I am truly sorry for what happened. I had luggage missing after I left it at the cabin door on the last night and will never ever do that again. But what I would like to suggest is that if you did pay for the cruise with a credit card, please call the credit card company. I have two credit cards and both carry a whole bunch of travel insurance for free, including luggage. I would try that out and see where you get. I do hope everything turns out ok. And don't let the people on this board get to you. I really don't post anymore because some people cannot get downright obnoxious.

I assume that 6/15 date is your final payment date, right? They will adjust prices for many different (not all) fares if it's before final payment date.
I am not sure if this is the final payment since I paid it all off in full when I booked, but sounds like it would be.

My fare dropped $40 so I did an online claim form for both the lowest price guarantee and price protection (when I booked the lady told me it was an early saver fare). Anyway I got an email today stating that it was not an early saver fare. So I called the 800 number to ask what can be done. She did tell me that it was not an early saver so therefore price protection does not come into play. However since it was more than three months away, she changed it and credited my credit card back the $40. She told me that if I see a lower fare before 6/15 (I sail on 8/29) then call and they would adjust again.

My cruise dropped $40 and it is over the 48 hours. I did an online claim. Who knows, maybe I will get someone who will give me some onboard credit for the difference. Kinda makes me mad since prices are supposed to go up as you get closer to the cruise date, not down.

We will be sailing on Sunshine in August and I am trying to figure out how much money I need for beer. How many bottles do you get in the bucket and how much is it. I believe that when it is all added up, you end up with a free bottle, correct?

I emailed carnival directly to ask how the procedure was if you already paid in full and then have gift cards. This is what they replied:
Guests are able to apply gift cards on the reservation. Once you have them we will need to refund the payment posted and apply gift cards.
Thank you for choosing Carnival.

thanks for the quick responses.

If you bring a bottle of wine on board, do you have to pay corkage fee if you are going to drink in room?
-
Just read all the posts but I just want to make sure. You can use the egift cards for gratuities?
-
I posted on another forum and got an answer but figured i would ask people who have used them. I am going to buy some to put towards my sign and sail account. If after the cruise I have a balance, can I go to guest services the night before and close out and get the balance?

I am planning on booking this one for 8/29. I have been to most of the ports already. What we plan to do is puerto rico: take the free public transportation to the forts. St. Marten: take a taxi to maho beach and just watch the planes. Last time we took a tour and was only there for a very very short time. grand turk: beach is right off ship and margaritivlle (sp?) is right there with a gigantic pool. never been to st. kitts so still don't know what we will do.

I can buy a carnival gift card for 10% off and I am considering it to save some money to use towards alcohol. So let's say that I buy a $500 gift card but only use up $400, how would I get the $100 back when the cruise is over.

On elegant night, are there some people in sneakers? We are limited in space for luggage. We will be bringing slacks but my son has a size 13 foot and that takes a lot of space in luggage. I want to avoid bringing dress shoes if possible.

thanks for the replies.

1. I am trying to figure out if i should choose early dining or your time dining. We want a table for 2. We don't like eating with other people. What would be the best option so that I will get a table for 2.
2. We are thinking of getting the inside statement with portholes which is on deck 1 forward. Is the rocking real bad or is it just a slow, steady motion. I will have the patch so i am not too concerned about motion sickness.
3. Any idea if Jaimie will be the cruise director since I heard so many good things about her.
4. What is the earliest time to board on embarkation day.
5. What time you think I would get off if I am carrying my luggage off the ship on debarkation day. Trying to figure out my car rentals.
6. Do they still serve lobster on elegant night?
Thanks for any info you can give me.

We always fly in a day early, rent a car from budget, visit disney marketplace, buy our supplies and next day drive to budget at port canaveral. they have a free shuttle to the ship. then when we return we take the budget shuttle back to the rental place, pick up our car and drive to mco and go home. Done this a few times with no problems. You can get codes for rentals on mousesavers.com. this is what we will be doing in august.
trivia question
in Carnival Cruise Lines

On just about every cruise we go on, they ask a trivia question about where would you find this and they say something that sounds dirty. The answer is something like on a british uniform. We were talking to someone about how we learn so much at trivia and both of us can't remember this. Any ideas?
