  1. Hi, I was asked a question today from one of the ladies that will be crusing with us in June and I could not answer it. She wanted to know if you can bring wine on board that you might have bought in a foreign port to drink or will they hold that and give back to you at the end of the cruise? I know you can bring a bottle on when you initially get on board.

I know I bought a small bottle of tequila years ago and they held that til the end of cruise which was fine but I wasn't sure about wine?

Also can someone tell me what either the dollar limit or qty limit of liquor that you can bring back?

Thanks in advance for answers to her question..;)

  2. I always use cash, never a CC. I am not a big spender on board so I have always got money back at the end of the cruise. I always go to Guest services the last night to close the account and cash out and I have always got money back. I always put $200.00 on the account to start with..But if need be you can always add money thru the week.. ;)

  3. Sounds good, we booked the Drury Inn not far from the terminal..My last cruise we came back to Baltimore to 2 1/2 feet of snow so I said no more cruises in the winter time especially from the northern ports..;) Hope your hubby makes it back with no delays to go on the cruise.:)

  4. Well maybe not the stars but something is working for me..We booked a cruise for June out of New Orleans and a few days later I received a e-mail promotion from Carnival about a $50.00 gift card for booking a cruise or to book but you did need the booking number , I imagine so they could check. Well I filled it out but not holding out any luck that it would come thru,,WELL it did this morning, I was surprised to say the least then I have been checking the FTTF everyday, sometimes twice a day, WELL there was one available, (now how lucky can one get), well I bought it with the gift card..So don't know how or really why but thank you to whomever that makes it possible..

Now to take care of the groundhog !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. I too have the same questions but could someone explain what the Hip Strip is, is this the main street where all the pushy vendors are or what? I would like to shop for material from Jamaica but I don't think I want to venture into the city.

  6. :D Oh wow, Thank you pcur, for all the addresses. Hopefully I will find these places. There is another lady in our group that quilts so I will bring this idea up to her and I think she will be excited also. I am going to print out the addresses and put them in the file.. Thank you again.

msjekyl--The black and white is gorgeous and I like the back of the printed gown..Good luck and hope to see a picture of it when finished.

I wish the other boards were as friendly and helpful as this one is..

Good luck in all your projects..;)

  7. It also not what did you forget to bring but what you forgot to keep out when packing to go home..On our first cruise sister-in-law forgot to keep her bra out and of course the luggage was gone gone and the funny part of it, her tee-shirt she was wearing had two palm trees on the front of it,, LOL They were swaying in the breeze til we got to the airport, we don't let her live that down to this day. I know what they say about packing all the extra things but I would rather have it that week then pay the prices on the ship or in ports. As long as I don't mind carrying it nobody else should worry about it. I enjoy everyone tips to what they take.

  8. A previous poster mentioned about buying material in foreign ports which I thought was a wonderful idea and hope to do this on my next cruise in June, but I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy material in these ports.. I will be in Montego Bay Jamaica, Cayman Island and Cozumel, would love to bring home material for some projects..:)

Hope to see pictures of all the clothes everyone has made even if the posts are old.

I dug out material that I bought a few years ago when they closed down our Joann Fabric store and I was still working and was going to make clothes for work but never did but now I am going to make a few things..
