Actually, I believe Sorrento's closes for a few hours early in the morning. Cafe Promenade is always open.
And as previously mentioned, the MDR is only open for lunch on sea days.
When we were on FOS in May of last year, Sorrentos closed at 2 am.

Just got off Rhapsody. Ken Jones was a pretty good CD as was his activities manager Jamie who is English.
If it was Jamie Fenimen, he was activities director on our Freedom cruise earlier this year. He was fantastic! I think he will make a great cruise director!

I just booked a cruise for Nov. 30, 2014 on FOS but it was NOT included in the WOW sale. I'm disappointed as I hoped for onboard credit and reduced deposit.
I could have booked the same CRUISE on a DOT COM site and received free gratuities worth amost $200, but since I always book thru the cruiseline so I can access any information I was kinda hesitant. What are your opinions?
However, I did get the price I wanted and the perfect balcony location plus they will be putting up Christmas decorations that we have never seen.
The only thing that worries me now is the price of airfair one or two days after Thanksgiving. I hope booking flight very early will help.
We are booked on this same cruise! Look forward to seeing you in 362 days :D. we booked on the wow sale back in June and got perks for this cruise but it was through a dotcom site.

Hi folks. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can get the best rum cakes to bring home? I want to bring back home different varities for my family. I'm reading the ones on the ship are not so good.
We will be doing the Western Caribbean next month. Falmouth Jamaica, Cozumel Mexico, Georgetown Grand Cayman
Thanks. :D
The Tortuga cakes from GC are really good, but I think the Rainforest Rum Cakes that you can get in downtown Cozumel are even better! Either way, you can't go wrong. :)

we had MTD on FOS in May and didn't request a table for two but were always given one. One evening, we were seated at a 4 top table and they moved us a table over so that a family of 4 could have that table. There were lots of two top tables in that area so i don't think there should be a problem. Just be sure to go to the dining area when you get on the ship and confirm that you would prefer a table for 2.

I have to agree with others about the productions on Jewel. I didn't think the actual singing and dancing was that bad, but the shows made absolutely no sense and the costumes were horrible! I was rather embarrassed for them that they even had to wear them. On the Freedom earlier this year, I didn't care for the Broadway themed show, but loved Once Upon A Time. Definitely my favorite production show so far.

This has my vote for best thread title ever! ;)

My favorite dessert on the ship was what I ordered the first night: blueberry & peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream.
I was so full I couldn’t eat it all, but it was amazing. My husband ate the Bailey’s Crème Brulee.
Dinner lasted about two hours. This was standard for each night. I enjoyed dinner and the conversation with our tablemates, but I was almost falling asleep at the table by dessert.
We decided to at least check out the entertainment in the theater after dinner. I think they called it a “variety” show, but what we saw was a man playing the piano and singing, and a light show with puppet shadows singing along to the music. We stood in the back for two songs. They were definitely talented, but it wasn’t enough to keep us up longer, so we left to go back to our room and to bed.
Love the blueberry and peach cobbler! It was one of my favorite desserts!

Awesome review! Love the Freedom! We were there in May for the Western itenerary and are booked for next Nov for the Eastern. And now, thanks to your thread title, I shall be humming a great old Janis Joplin tune the rest of the day. :)

Hi All,
I have a ton of photos and I will try to upload over the next few days some highlights from our cruise. I know visual is always a plus. Just need to figure out how to do that. In the mean time, if you have any questions will be glad to answer for you with regard to the ship and the itinerary if you are visiting the same islands. I will answer the questions, not the people that are trying to highjack my thread. Go start your own review, you know who you are. :pLOL
Anne, I enjoyed meeting you at the sky bar M&M and running into you several times during the cruise! You and other roll call members really helped me out a lot with planning for our cruise. It was an awesome week and I am ready to go back! :p

I think I'll just keep hijacking this thread. I need a pirate emoticon.....
Dave, were you guys ever in the Schooner Bar in the evenings? I thought i recognized you but wasn't sure. I saw Steve and Carrie several times. We ended up on the same excursion in Jamaica and same flights.

Just wondering if Richard Spacey is still Cruise Director on any of the Royal Ships. We were most fortunate to have him on Freedom, and another ship, I can't remember. I LOVED his humor and connection with the passengers.
Has anyone had the good fortune to see him lately?
We were on the Freedom last week. Richard is the CD and Jamie is the activities director. They are, by far, the best that we have had in our 4 cruises. Honestly, we have never had a bad CD, but Richard went above and beyond it seemed. And he and Jamie are hilarious together! Just watching their morning video on tv got our days started off with a laugh. I hope to sail with them again in the future!

I am almost at that point in my life. House is paid off, sons education paid for, husband semi retired and I am still working full time. I would love to work part-time but that would mean giving up,some travel which I refuse to do.
Anyone else in the same boat?
I work 2 jobs. My son calls my 2nd job our vacation money lol. which is pretty much the truth. we could pay the bills on the one job but who wants to just pay the bills and never get out and enjoy life! Going on the freedom in a week, so i'm loving that 2nd job at the moment!

I have heard such good things about him. Looking forward to seeing him in May!

Loved the pics and review! We were on the Jewel for Thanksgiving 2011 and all those pics brought back so many wonderful memories! Did you guys take the elevator up to the Viking Crown lounge and see the flamingoes outside the elevator? I read about them here on CC and thought it was the coolest thing ever. My son says I'm easily amused :p

Last Tgiving on the Jewel, they showed the games in the Schooner lounge and the lounge next to it with the pool table (can't remember the name). They also served hotdogs and popcorn which I thought was really cool :)

Gee, thx Artemis. I'm going to be late for work because I've been reading your review! :p Will have to finish it tonight and can't wait to read the things you have downloaded. We sail on Freedom next May. So far we have sailed Majesty, Enchantment and Jewel so when i booked this cruise i was intimidated by the size of the ship. I've been reading everything I can on Freedom and have now gone from intimidation to excitement! I'm one of those obsessive researchers and have been writing little tidbits down here and there that I want to remember. Thx for all the info and look forward to reading more after work! :)

Richard working in an office is certainly a waste of his talent. That man was born to be in front of an audience! Not that he won't do well in his new job, but he is one of the funniest people i have ever met. :)
