Can anyone tell me if a uk resident can book there cruise on the us site online?
Booked three times on US Site and also booked at future cruise desk on board never had a problem. Haven't tried it recently (this year) so maybe they have blocked it. I have entered a UK address and telephone number without issue but I do this by logging in to my Carnival account and it populates the booking automatically

Great information. Does anybody know details of where within MOD application for proof of service should be submitted?

Thanks for the information, this is our first cruise on P&O, so still trying to find out as much about the cruise as we can. There are so many mixed reviews on here, that I am just finding out information regarding the basics, so more questions may still be asked. We will just make our own minds up when we're on board regarding food/staff etc. as we're just pleased to be on the cruise in the first place and will try and have a good time no matter what.
We are doing this trip in September from genoa to Venice. Sailed on Ventura to the Fjords last year. On disembarkation day we plan to get the People Mover from the port to Piazzale Roma then leave our baggage in the Left Luggage to spend the day in Venice before the ATVO bus to the airport for evening flight to UK. We've done venice before and will be using the Vaporetto day ticket
This web site has loads of info on Venice including leaving luggage and transport

What is the Freedom like since the dry dock and upgrades have taken place? Does anyone have feedback and/or pictures they can provide? We sailed 4 years ago on Freedom for the 8 day, 5 port itinerary and it was fabulous. Tortolla was the best stop.
I would love to see what upgrades the ship has now. Although, I would
love to sail Dream since I've never been on her, but the Freedom still would be a great choice.
have a look at this thread

Freedom every time Dream too many people, too congested and looking down from your balcony to see the promenade deck does not do it for me

We are sailing from genoa in September. When we have sailed on Ventura before you could not book the gourmet night on line you need to book onboard usually in the atrium when you board. You can work out which night it is by trying book a table on line through cruise personaliser the gourmet night will be the night not listed for our cruise in Sep it's the 3rd night a sea day. We will be booking it's stunning food when we did it last year

I for one, think its exceptional for the cruise ship to respond so quickly to the possibility of Man overboard. They get bonus points from me.
I'm sure the man in question was talking about it, or depressed, and let his family know. When he went missing, they were worried.
WTG ship Captain, well done. Glad it didn't happen, but I feel better knowing they responded as they did.
Response to a report of "Man Overboard" is standard drill on all sea going vessels and the action is immediate. On a large vessel, like a cruise ship, they would usually conduct a Williamson Turn which will bring the ship back on the reciprocal course and hopefully to the position when the report was made. I would have thought any intentional false report would be treated seriously by the Captain

I don't think tipping will work but a call to customer service regarding medical situation would have a better chance

The ATVO express bus to piazza Roma is fast and just as easy as a taxi even with luggage costs about 7 euro the driver loaded and unloaded the luggage we then used the people mover at 1 euro to the port
This web site has lots of useful info

Yeah have a look at P&O Ventura now does 7 and 14 night with airfare included (probably from the London, Birmingham or Manchester not sure) and excellent service. Not exactly Carnival style (because the Ventura isn't tacky or ugly in and way shape or form like quite a few Carnival ships are:)) but reasonable. UK and US prices to date (approximately):
7 night - £799 - about $1335
14 night - £1049 - about $1750
All prices approximate
We like Carnival:D

I have always wanted to do a Med Cruise - now Carnival isn't sailing in Europe - which line do I look at next? Does it really just come down to itinerary and price? Just not sure where to start...:confused:
May I suggest you have a look at P&O- if you are looking at the Med they have Ventura doing 7 days itineraries this year that you could do back to back I suspect they will do the same next year sailing from Genoa (Milan airport) or Venice taking in Naples, Dubrovnik, Corfu, Rome, Livorno (for Florence/Pisa, Kotor there 2015 will not be out until late March
I have also sailed MSC from Venice to Istanbul which was excellent but very Italian

Hello everyone,
My girlfriend and I (aged 21) are cruising 10th-17th September 2014. We will be sailing on Ventura starting at Venice heading to Genoa (N419a) for 7 nights.
I have been before with parents but would like to show my girlfriend what it is like.
This is a generic forum for all to discuss topics such as excursion ideas, cabin upgrades and first time cruise advice.
We booked an Early Saver offer several months ago and have secured a JD grade cabin (P&O feel free to upgrade us). ;-)
Also once the Fly Med cruises commence earlier in the season, feedback from these cruisers may prove useful for passengers going later in the season. P&O may even be watching and act on your feedback.
Here are the ports we are going to:
Venice, Kotor, Corfu, Rome, Ajaccio and Genoa.
We are very excited and hoping the time goes quickly!
Thank you for all your comments in advance.
Kinds regards,
Nick

Hi
After another poster warned me about Carnival flights I am a little worried! Are the package flight deals really that bad?
1) Is there really a lot of delays/ muck ups/ transfers being cancelled and lost luggage with their service and the airlines they use?
2) If you have done a recent transatlantic this summer what airlines were used and was it direct or where did it stop to change?
3) do they use whatever airline is available or have favourites?
We are looking at the Panama Canal cruise on the Legend leaving Tampa and docking in LA.We would be staying overnight in Tampa pre cruise and going straight to the airport post cruise. Flying from London.
Thanks so much for any advice! :)
Doing our third trip with Carnival from Florida in 6 weeks flying from LHR- book separate much better deals either BA or Virgin direct to Miami back from LA

JohninDC, I've been paying attention to all of your useful advice on these boards and you seem very credible. If I were to take the train from MIA to FLL, what stop would I get off to get me closest to The Sheraton Beach Hotel?
Been researching transfers as well and thinking of using TriRail to Ft Lauderdale. Does not look like the shuttle from Ft Lauderdale Station goes near our hotel - Hyatt Regency at Pier 66 but $5 rail then a cab for I guess $10 looks a better option than cab or super shuttle from MIA
Link to Tri Rail web site hear - http://www.tri-rail.com
They also have an App

You may get a reply if you post on the Cunard board if you have not done so already.Just to add that if you have free time in Paris and Montmatre is not on the sightseeing agenda you may have time to take a taxi there and walk around. You can be dropped off on the hill or walk up from Sacre Coeur.I know why she wants to go there...love it.
Thank you I have also posted on Cunard and the roll call for this cruise- there is some free time shopping so we may take the taxi option
-
Anyone done the Paris & Seine River Cruise excursion with Cunard or perhaps any other line as they tend to be the same from Le Havre?
How much is viewing Paris from a coach and how much walking? My DW particularly wants to go to Montmatre but it is not clear from the excursion description whether this is part of the itinerary
-
I would like to know what the cabins are like onboard
Looking forward to your reply :)
We had a premium balcony in June this year on the Divina and found it more spacious than both Carnival and P&O
Our journal of the trip is a link to journal in the signature below
