The grandfather made more than a terribly dangerous decision, he made a life ending decision.  Unfortunately, it was someone else’s.

Having lost a young child a extremely rare brain disorder, I can tell you unequivocally that we would not go after the cruise line. We would gather the internal strength to find resolve, and clarity to accept what he did. That is how we got through our daughters time on earth, knowing at 3 months of age that her time was limited. I will say though, if there was a lawyer involved it would be to guarantee the GF was gone for good from our lives.

I’m not sure if being Canadian makes a difference to this no sue attitude.  Or, is it the fact that we have lived through watching our two year old daughter pass away in my arms. If this happened in our household, we would be destroyed to lose a child to such idiotic and life ending actions, but the though of suing would never cross our minds.

I guess we are not the “norm”, but this is who we are.

    Good for you!

Yeah... I probably should have said that Turkey is the least attractive part of that cruise for me. Never really had a desire to go there and honestly would not be crushed if it were canceled due to unrest. Figuring if I keep what I have I will have two “sea days at port” on those two stops. If I keep it, it is for Italy and Greece only. (And the only options I found that did not include Turkey left from Venice and while I love that city, I will not do a cruise from it or to it again because of the damage ships are doing to the underpinnings of the city.)

Turkey is our favourite destination. We have been there on cruises, on bus tours, travelling independently with an other couple and by ourselves. We have encouraged our children to go there. Turks are the friendliest people and go out of their way to be helpful.

On the other hand we found Greece filthy and unfriendly. Go to Italy if you want your pocket picked.

We will be disembarking Celebrity Reflection in Amsterdam on September 6, 2019. Our international flight is not until 17:30. Are there any options, other than those shown under posted excursions, where we can leave our luggage and explore the city for several hours? Can we send it ahead to the airport? Is there a service at disembarkation that will store it for us?

Amsterdam Centraal Railway Station is close to Amsterdam cruise port (17 minute walk). It has a left luggage service and coin operated luggage lockers. The intercity train from Amsterdam Centraal to Schiphol Airport takes 13 minutes (Sprinter takes 18 min). Departures less than every 10 minutes. Cost 4.50 euros. Metro and tram terminals at Centraal for most anywhere in the city (or you can walk).

    Hi Everyone,

So we booked to do the string ray excursion in nassau, bahamas at blue lagoon I am now terrified, ha

We booked this at the end of January for my wife and granddaughter. Only one sting ray showed up. Guide told the crowd, "Don't let it go." The first person let it go. Bye bye sting ray. Wife and granddaughter were switched to Dolphin experience at no extra cost. Turned out to be a better deal.

    P.S.The stingers have been amputated.

    Bob or whoever-

I think “How to sign up for your meet & mingle” should be a sticky at the top of the forum or something.  I only cruise once a year, and rarely want to go to a meet & mingle, however every time I DO want to go, I struggle to remember how to sign up (unless someone on my roll call posts the link).

    just an idea...

    Thx!

    Lisa

It is. Under the Forums tab.

  6. "Do you go out to a restaurant in your town, plop down with your book or game and sit for hours on end, while diners that come to the restaurant are turned away for lack of table space? I think not."

Try Starbucks sometime. Tables are full with people surfing the internet. No food or even coffee.

  7. Using that logic, I would never visit the US, given the rampant gun violence, home grown terrorists, and the foreign terrorist threat.

Yet somehow, no one ever brings that up around here after a particular violent act. Should we have stopped cruising from the West coast due to the San Bernardino violence? Perhaps have dropped the East coast after the Boston bombings, the chopping of police officers in New York, 9/11, the sniper shootings in DC and surrounding areas, Ft Hood, and so on... Yet somehow, the US keeps encouraging visitors to keep coming, that somehow it's a one-off event, etc... I would think we could extend the same view to other overseas areas.

Everyone has to evaluate their own safety and risk tolerance. Obviously we shouldn't put ourselves in specific harm's way if we can help it, ie I wouldn't be touring Syria just now, but I also won't be writing off an entire area for violence that is hundreds of miles away, just as I don't write off the entire US due to the violence there.

  8. Please forgive me if this is somewhere on the board. I have used search and cannot find answer. What would your advice be for getting to FLL airport from Miami Port and making a 10:45AM flight? Of course, using self debarkation. Would you suggest using private driver to get to airport? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Just for 1 person. Thank you.

We took the Celebrity transfer from Miami to Fort Lauderdale airport yesterday.

We had a scheduled disembarkation time of 7:15 and caught a 9:45 flight. We were were scheduled for a 12:57 flight but managed to change at check in.

No delay at immigration (we are Canadian).

    Waited 20 minutes for luggage.

No traffic problems on the way.

    Luggage drop moved quickly.

All things worked together for good. Wouldn't count on it an other time.
