Two miles is only a short stroll. Maybe 30 minutes if you are just taking in the sites. If you are taking a cruise in September that goes South, why would the temperature matter? It's going to be hot on the cruise also.
My post never mentioned the heat ... that was someone's response

We sail on September 24. I have been checking daily. Still hopeful that when all the cabins are sold and the ones held for platinum and gold members aren't taken they'll release more. If not, were still going to have a heck of a cruise!

I say tell them what time you are leaving for the port and stick to it. If one is habitually an hour late and one feels the need to work a few hours on a cruise departure day your problems may be larger than arrival times! They can easily ride together.
Have fun!

So I am posing this to Carnival guests who have sailed from New Orleans before.
My wife and I are on the Dream on September 24. (Can't wait) We have a 12:00-12:30 check in time. We are considering arriving at the port around 9:00am, leaving our bags with the porter and heading over to the French Quarter for breakfast. Has anyone done this before? It appears that the port and the quarters are only a few blocks from each other.
Thoughts?

Headed to Montego Bay on the Carnival Dream in September 2017. Would like to visit Rick's Café in Negril to watch cliff divers. Has anyone ever ventured on their own to Negril? How far is it? What is the cost of a taxi? Is it safe?
There is a Carnival excursion, but it has mixed reviews with a few stops besides Rick's. Thanks for any information!

Early flights the day of cruise?

Hey good luck. There is no amount of planning that can prevent some unforeseen issues, especially flights. I always come in the day before. Earlier this year, my day before departure flight was cancelled and I could not be re-booked on any airline, at any other area (150 miles) airport, until the day after the ship sailed. First time we missed the cruise! Had I booked to leave the day of the cruise I would have been fine!
So you never know!
