  1. I feel bad for the Splendor. It is going to take a beating from the NY whining and grumbling crowd. Nothing worse than being on a cruise full of NYers, they trash the ship, get obnoxious and drunk(out of control drunk), and are never happy. The Poor poor Splendor, will need to be drydocked after NY.;)

No, that would be the passengers on the cruise around South America getting to New York. I have never met so many people wearing their cranky pants. There were people on the cruise who complained the entire cruise. They were also rude, rude, rude. We were pushed, poked, run over and bumped. Most of the passengers were not from NY.

  2. I love this idea, but only 2 pairs of shoes? I'm going to have to try this also. The one problem I see is that you can only bring 3 oz or smaller for your shampoo/conditioner etc. something that size will not get me through 2 weeks let alone a month. I don't use the products supplied by Carnival, I've tried and it wasn't pretty.

  3. We got checked in at our muster station on RCI. Then they went looking for everyone that didn't show up and made us wait until everyone appeared. When those last people finally showed, the other passengers let them know that they did not appreciate waiting.

We go on every cruise. It's good to know, just in case. We usually make our way down when they call it because we don't want to be like the people you mention. Makes me want to ask them, "Why do you think it's ok to hold everyone else up?" I understand if you have fallen asleep, but people who show up with a fresh drink in their hand really irritate me.

  4. Thanks for the warning. I only purchase the embarkation photo the getting off the ship in port and a Elegant Night photo. Thats why before the cruise I purchase the photo coupons that way I stick to my budget.:) I wish they would attach pics to sail n sign card then you can view and purchase later. But I love there photography. Had Christmas Cards done on one of my cruises. Didnt have all my children with me but had two of them. Photos are priceless, their memories.:):)

I seem to remember John Heald saying that on the Magic they have kiosks set up where you swipe your sail n sign card and the software finds the pictures you have had taken. It uses the picture they take of you at embarkation and facial recognition software. I don't think it's perfect but it definitely seems a lot easier that spending time looking through all those pictures.

We usually pose for every picture they offer us. Then the last day of the cruise we go through them and pick 1 or 2 to buy. We generally don't buy any other souvenirs, unless you count my DOD cups.

  5. Don't know how you booked the Crowne Plaza, but at the suggestion of several people here on CC, we booked the Crowne Plaza in San Pedro in October on Priceline for $65 per night. A great deal.

We got a similar deal. Looks like a nice hotel. We are flying in 2 days early just in case there is any weather. I know it's early for snow but I've learned to never say never.

  6. Hotel Maya is in Long Beach--unless you are sailing Carnival, you should probably stay with your Crowne Plaza reservations in San Pedro.

The Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles (San Pedro) are two different locations and approximately a $20 cab ride (if not more) apart.

Thanks! We are cruising with Carnival but the ship leaves from San Pedro for this cruise.

  7. We will be staying in San Pedro for 2 days prior to our upcoming cruise in December. We have booked the Crowne Plaza but have just found a great deal for the Hotel Maya on Travel Zoo. Which hotel is more convenient to the San Pedro cruise port? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :D

  8. Enough is enough. This is a funny thread. Why do people have to attack others? Please start another thread about attacking people if that's what makes you happy. Sheesh.

So it's ok to take pictures of strangers because they are minding their own business? These people weren't bothering anyone but this girl had to take a picture to show the folks back home? A little understanding of other customs and cultures goes a long way.

When I was on the Legend in February, there was a man about 40ish who was drunk. He was sitting on the pool ledge or at least trying to, when he vomited and then passed out, sitting up. There was a group of people pointing, laughing and taking their picture with him. I really felt sorry for him. It was sad. Talking to some other people I found out that the man was supposed to be going to AA while on board. They ended up taking him back to his room in a wheelchair. The people taking his picture most likely didn't know his problem, but it doesn't make it ok to ridicule him. What goes around comes around.
