I leave Tuesday for a cruise booked 18 days out. It is such a different feeling than booking way on advance. :)

We have done 2 cruises to Bermuda and then decided to fly in for a week because we loved it so much. There are many things to do and since you don't have to worry about the ship leaving you and plan your own excursions. There is plenty of info on the Bermuda boards. We did a helmet dive there and it was an amazing experience.

I guess prepaid parking is a fairly new option? I just saw that on the port web site. You'll still have to wait on line behind the people who got to the port earlier. You just won't have to pay once you get to the parking warehouse. So I suppose it will speed up your entry by a minute or two. :D
One disadvantage I see is if you wind up not parking and have to attempt getting a refund.
Thanks for the reply. It did say you must cancel 24 hours in advance to get a refund. That did make me pause but if there is a problem and we don't go I will submit it to my trip insurance. I was hoping for a prepaid only line for parking. [emoji1] I did go ahead and pay and will report back if there is anything good or bad to say about it.

Hello everyone. Is there any advantages or disadvantages to prepaying parking at the port. I like the idea of having everything paid already. Thanks!

We will be on the Ecstasy at the end of the month and have already purchased the Cheers package. I want to try some new drinks and wondered if the specialty bars are open when you board.

We were able to get a hotel room in Mt. P and leave our car for free there and Uber to port cheaper than it was to leave our car in port for a week. Just an FYI. :) - I know you weren't asking me and that was for the OP, but wanted to share our experience.
Where did you stay? We are thinking about coming in the night before if possible. Thanks.

If we have a check in time of 12:00 -12:30 what time should we arrive to park? We are driving in that morning.

Awesome. I booked 45 days out and this wait has been longer than any of the previous waits. I am now 14 days away from sailing and losing my friggin mind..
I'm one of those obsessive planners and I feel like I will forget something. Usually by now every detail is planned and I'm 75% packed. I've got to get working on everything.

Doesn't Charleston have staggered boarding? I booked last night for the 28th and had to choose a boarding time.

Thanks. I did buy non Carnival insurance immediately. Our plan is to stay on the ship in Nassau since we have both been there before. The other stop is Half Moon Cay so it will be beach time.

Just wanted to share my excitement about the last minute (for us at least) cruise I am taking with my friend. We board the Ecstacy on the 28th. We have already purchased Cheers for the room and I chose my check in time. Is there anything else I should do ASAP? We both have valid passports so that isn't an issue.
Thanks!

I take a two pillow cases with me on any trip now. My eyes have begun to react to something that hotels and cruise ships use to wash theirs in. It makes me look like both eyes are severely infected.

That's why we brought a tape measure when we last bought luggage. We didn't even bother with the measurement from the tags and just took our own.

I had only minimal peeling and that stopped about a week ago so I am trying again. I did do a better soak this time before putting the booties on and put on a pair of close fitting socks to help make sure all of my foot is in contact with the liner. I have small feet so I am not sure if it all was touching last time. Now to do homework for the next 90 minutes while it works.
-
It took eight day for me but the peeling finally began today. It looks horrible and it takes all my will power not to pick at it. I will come back and report again when it's finished. I do have one question for those who have used it. Did you have any trouble with blisters after the callous layer was gone?
-
After reading this and looking at online reviews I ordered this from amazon. I'm currently sitting here with the booties on and will also report back on the results.

We stayed at Grotto Bay for a week last year and they did say that the beach and pools were for guests only. You may able to purchase lunch there though. Our inclusive package ended before lunch and we had a later flight and we were able to purchase lunch before we left.

My husband is a bit larger than you are and we were able to do the helmet diving with no problem. We booked it privately on our last trip there. We did have a health form to fill out and if you have certain conditions (like high blood pressure) you had to bring a letter from your doctor.
It was a great experience! We went in May when the water temps were still chilly and there was even wetsuits that were large enough.
We will do this again when we return to Bermuda!

We were in Bermuda on a land based trip this past year for Bermuda Day. You will want to be aware that the busses are on a reduced schedule and very, very full on that day. We were staying in the St. George area and took the ferry to Dockyard for our helmet dive that afternoon.
Since the schedule was reduced we couldn't get the ferry back to St. George and took the ferry to Hamilton and walked to the the bus terminal from there. We waited for over an hour to get on a bus at the terminal and experienced the only rude people we have ever
encountered there. They were loudly shouting that the busses should only be for those who lived there and not for tourists. If we are ever in Bermuda for that holiday again we will stay close and avoid public transportation on that day.
I would plan much more than usual time to get places that day due to the reduced schedule and high usage on Bermuda Day.

We stayed a week at Grotto Bay bcd in May. When I asked about reservations for a massage they told me to make them ASAP as it was a holiday and that locals (and others) use the services more often then.
The massage is the cave is an amazing experience!! It is well worth it. Don't forget to bring your camera so you can get some pics while you are in there.

We did the helmet dive on our land based vacation to Bermuda at the end of May. I am a non swimmer with some issues about water in my face and had the best time. As was said your whole head stays completely dry.
This was one of the best things I have ever experienced. I learned quite a bit and loved the glimpse into the ocean you get. We felt that it was very reasonably priced for what it is and will do it again on our next trip to Bermuda.

Mousey thank you so much!
Grandma was my fashion and shopping buddy and I have kept many of her things. She was always out for a bargain and even specifically picked out and bought the classic black suit for me to wear to her funeral (which I did wear to it). She found it marked down from $180 to $1. LOL

Thanks for the link! I read your blog and it has some great ideas. I am only taking one dress (this is a land vacation to Bermuda) and it is blue. My Grandmother passed away in January and when going through her things I found a drawer full of scarves, three of them match the dress and will be going with me. I have a color scheme and think I will have no problem with this. I still have 58 days to go.

I am an overpacked and as a result my suitcase was huge. Up until now we have mostly driven to both cruise and land vacations so it wasn't ever an issue.
This year we are flying to Bermuda and had to buy new luggage so I am turning over a new leaf. I have purchased capris in three colors (black, tan and olive) and will be taking tops that will match at least two of the bottoms. All of those tops and bottoms look ok if they get a little wrinkled. One nicer pair of capris and one dress with several scarves for dinner. My cover up is actually a dress too and can be used that way if needed. Shoes will be walking shoes, sandals, flats and water shoes. We are prepared to do laundry at least once. Toiletries will be as minimal as possible.
I know it is still a long way from carry on only but for me this is a big deal.
Please, dumb it down for me. lol Internet question
