  1. No, you just go to one of the four "main dining rooms" when you want to eat.

Yep, we understand that, the problem is the paid and complimentary restaurants are currently all booked even before the ship leaves the dock. We called Crown $ Anchor and they spent 20 minutes trying to get us reservations...no luck unless we want to eat at 9pm. You have to book early or try to look for cancellations when you get on the ship. Same for the shows like Mama Mia. We'll have to wait and see how it all shakes out.

  2. People on the TA said that they got a seat in various dining rooms without booking.

I'd recommend calling C&A again though, they won't fully book any complimentary restaurant. Specialty is a little different though, they'll be booked up.

I hope it not as booked as it appears right now. C&A did look, she spent 20 minutes trying to find openings. They were either after 9pm or fully booked this included both paid venues like chops as well as free ones such as Chic or Grand. Told us to wait till we got on the ship and check with the restaurants for cancellations. Really? We gotta spend the day trying to find where we can eat? We are in our 60's and like early dining options. Eating after 7pm is not for us.

  3. What is your opinion of the dynamic dining?

Because we have always had main dining we never had to worry when and where we would eat. We just booked the Quantum for Dec 1 which is 10 days away and now we just discovered that if you have not booked a restaurant you will be eating in the Windjammer every night, because all the paid and complimentary restaurants are already booked. Not sure I am gonna like this setup much. I called the Crown & Anchor agent to inquire about this and they said you need to book your restaurants months out otherwise you're stuck with very late hours or seeing if there are cancellations when you get on the ship. I think I;m gonna miss the main dining setup.

  4. We were excited to book a last minute cruise on the Dec 1, 2014 sailing of the Quantum out of New Jersey, now we are a bit concerned. This cruise is still about 10 days away and we decided to see if we could book some of the shows and restaurants prior to our sailing, mind you we have never done that, we always had main dining and never had to worry where we were going to eat, so we were very distressed to see most restaurants are already booked and most shows are already booked. Seems with this new class ship you better book shows and restaurants months in advance. There is no more main dining so if you dont book months ahead it seems you are destined for the Windjammer every night.

  5. We have a United Airlines Explorer Master card and book through United Airlines website. They have a separate cruise travel agency and we get a minimum of 10,000 bonus travel miles with every cruise we book, plus more points for the total cost of the trip. Those add up fast and we get to fly free to or from many of our cruise ports. We booked a flt to Australia early this year, 1st class using 45000 frequent flyer miles each that we racked up by booking our cruises through United Airlines. Works for us.
