Yes she is. We had our honeymoon cruise on her 17 years ago.

Hope that was a typo 😂

MV Seabourn Quest is a luxury cruise ship in Seabourn Cruise Line. It was constructed by Italian shipbuilder T. Mariotti. The vessel entered service in June 2011.

Hope you had (and possibly are still having) a wonderful cruise and wondering if you took this excursion and if so, please share your thoughts.  It looks so interesting!

We board Ovation next weekend and although we rarely take ship excursions, are seriously considering this one.

When we boarded Ovation we asked Destination Services for more details, we were told, half and hour drive, the pictures of the horse carriage did not look comfortable and held too many people, there would be 30 minutes in the woods looking for truffles and then back to the farmhouse for lunch and shopping. It did not sound at all as good as the description on the website. We gave it some thought and decided to cancel. If we go again we will look into a private tour, we too thought it would be a much smaller sized group.

I believe that this same excursion was offered when the Sojourn called at Livorno last month. I thought it sounded very interesting, but it departed so early that (per Destination Services) the lunch would take place in the late morning. So, you might want to check the departure time.

It departs at 9.30am so it will be an early lunch but not too bad. I would not have booked it if it was any earlier than that, I hate early morning starts!

  4. The above is a shore excursion on our upcoming Ovation cruise, we don't do shore excursions but this one sounds fabulous! Has anyone done this with Seabourn?? if so can you recommend?

The truffle is one of the finest, tastiest and most expensive culinary condiments. It adds a wonderful flavor to any savory dish -- an automatic upgrade from delicious to outrageous. Take part in hunting for truffles today with some very enthusiastic canine assistance, learning how and why Tuscany stakes its claim as Italy's foremost region for truffle production.

A panoramic drive brings you to a truffle farm.

Ride by horse and carriage into the woods of Tuscany; then, begin your search for truffles in the company of a truffle-hunting dog. The dog hurries through the forest, sniffing about and digging for this edible treasure.

With newly-found truffles in hand, you will head back to the farmhouse for a delightful organic lunch. Farmers Davide and Francesca have lovingly crafted tagliolini pasta, with eggs from the farmyard chickens and lavished with shavings of truffle. Your simple gourmet meal is paired with three different Tuscan wines, including the sweet Vin Santo wine for dessert with tasty Cantuccini (biscotti).

  5. Look at your booking, then in guest registration go to your final documents and you will find it there. I am having trouble opening my booking on the app but have just checked ours on my pc. We haven't had the "important notice" from Seabourn but out boarding time is there.

I am a member of the Seabourn Sailors Facebook group.

The one mentioned above is the Seabourn Friends and Family group. I requested membership about 5 days ago with no response. I requested membership again earlier this evening, so far with no response. My FB account is real, and I answered the questions. No response within minutes or hours.

Sorry I misread your post and thought Seabourn Sailors (ie 2seabournsailors) was the one that hadn't responded. Your membership request probably hasn't been granted as Mark, the admin on there is currently on Ovation.

  7. Hi Norman,

Good to hear that you and your wife are both OK and you are coming back to Seabourn. Brian and I remember you well and you get a mention when we are reminiscing. We still miss the triplets but have fallen in love with having a balcony so the Odyssey class ships are our ships of choice. Hope you have a fabulous cruise and your wife gets hooked.

  8. Used Luggage forward several times now and all has been perfect. The little things that you don't think of make it worthwhile, such as getting to the airport and finding check in does not open for another hour, no problem, we had checked in online and didn't need to drop our bags off so walked straight through security, while all the other Seabourn passengers jockeyed for position for when check in opened. I don't know if Seabourn give it priority but our bag has always been in the suite when we board, even last time when suites were ready as we boarded at 12.15. whereas when we have taken our luggage ourselves it can be a couple of hours before the luggage gets to the suite.

This is the place I finally decided on. 2 days in a 2 bed new villa.  Can I ask if there is a nearby shop (apart from the on site hut) available for a few provisions and can you recommend anywhere for informal eats, including breakfast?   We’ll arrive about 4.30 and I think the hut will be shut by then.   Any other tips appreciated, such as taxi costs, nearby places to visit, tours etc. would be greatly  appreciated.

There is a petrol station nearby with a shop where you can get essentials, Beach View usually put a couple of bagels in your room and there is a coffee maker with coffee so a light breakfast is catered for. We usually pay for a grocery pack $40 I think you get eggs, jam, bread, butter, milk. Since the new villas have opened there is a new place to eat onsite which is open until late serving food, there is also a pizza place virtually next door, which is very easy especially the first evening!

We usually take a bus $1 each up to Holetown, the bus stop is opposite the hotel, it drops you at the supermarket in Holetown where you can get everything you may need. There are lots of places around to eat, too many to mention!!

The whole team at Beach View are friendly and will point you in the right direction for whatever you want to do. We usually just chill, getting over the jet lag so that we are fresh for our cruise:-)

  10. I happen to have booked this 2019 crossing on board Quest last month and then had the Cruise Sales Specialist Mark (great guy- smart and personable, btw) pass it over to my TA whose record Mark had from our on board profile. I laughed about the disconnect of ending in Miami and starting the next day hundreds of miles away. Seabourn has known about their website accuracy problem with this matter for weeks. Now if they would just make it clearer online. But never mind... TAs know better. Go ahead, call one, and book!

    Happy and healthy sailing!

It was a couple of months ago when we tried to book and queried the end port of the transatlantic and embark port of the follow on, out TA was told to ask us to wait until they had corrected this, we talked to the cruise sales on Odyssey and she is querying it with Seabourn but asked us to contact ou TA again which we have done, Seabourn told them that they are still loading the new itinerary but can’t say when it will be done and we just have to wait. Hopefully cruse sales specialist will have better luck! I thought you used the same TA as us the “Royal “ one in Reading?

  11. That is bad. Presumably he had travelled Seabourn before, if he was a club member, and also I imagine the party was after 6 p.m.?

Surely a senior staff member should have had a quiet word.

It was a 6.30pm party and he had to shake hands with the Captain, Hot Man, CD etc before sitting down but obviously nobody pulled him up on his bad manners, dress code clearly states that shorts are not acceptable after 6pm in public areas. Who would turn up to an invitation to a party in shorts?

This did not detract at all from our enjoyment of our cruise, each to their own but as this is a dress code thread I thought I would post our observations.
