  1. Hi David,

    I've jumped ship :D

    Please remove:

    31 Oct ... Topaz M ... Pacific Dawn ... Melbourne Cup Cruise

    and add for Nov 2015

15 Nov ... Topaz M ... Pacific Eden ... Inaugural Fremantle to Sydney

25 Nov ... Topaz M ... Pacific Aria ... Inaugural Sydney to Brisbane

(Actually surprised no-one is down for these already  )

  2. not a valid comparison. nearly everything on the reg menu can be made BF, DF, or whatever free to accommodate allergies. furthermore it is not that hard to order a plain poached chicken breast and steamed veggies every night either( had a Table mate on Disney get that) using whatever is in the galley without having to go to an entirely different galley.

Sorry, but I would not expect my daughter who is Coeliac to have to live on steamed chicken and vegetables for an entire cruise!

It is also NOT as simple as "removing something from the plate" as others have implied.

Wait for the day one of you have an allergy and see what happens if everything is not prepared and cooked in a non-contaminated environment.

What appals me is the ignorance some people show to those who need to order with allergies in mind.

The Celebrity staff have always been most accommodating for my daughter and will even suggest items to make the food less boring. And yes she does order the night before even though it is hard for her to decide what she would fancy to eat the next day!!

  3. Great info from all, thank you.

I am considering the coastal round trip in December 2015 as my daughter turns 21 that year and I have a big birthday myself! We would be combining it with a trip to the UK to see my family.

I noticed on the website that there is a student discount. I have a British and Australian passport but at this point my daughter only has an Aussie one, although she is entitled to a British one. Does the student discount apply to overseas students?

Also the prices I see quoted are in euros, does anyone know if it is cheaper to book through US, UK or elsewhere?

  4. Flew Southwest a month ago, and things are much the same. They now pass around free drinks and goodies like chips. The thing that stood out most on both flights we did....were the amount of dogs (normal, not seeing eye dogs) onboard sitting with their owners:eek::D

"Service" dogs are everywhere in the US now - for all sorts of "health" issues

  5. omg. I understand that this is a " critics" forum, but really.. complaining about grinding your own pepper? or chocolates not on your pillow.. come on..

if you were paying for the suite with the full butler service... then maybe.. just maybe it would be justified.. get real..

really would you seriously let these things ruin your holiday...

    get over it..

(((( Ohhh noooo! Now you are going to get us Aussies a bad name in the humour stakes!! ))))

On my last cruise - 17 nights - the cabin steward was SO lazy he left all the towel animals on my bed ... one for each night of the cruise.

Where was I supposed to sleep amongst this zoo? Lucky I had the cabin to myself!

    Love this thread :D

  6. SDMIKE .... Thanks for the very detailed

Info. Its people like you that make cruising

    That much better!

Question for you .. We are on the Epic in June

and cant wait! We are in cabin 9285 balcony,

And i am confused if we have an "uncovered"

Balcony or not.?When i booked this cabin

I asked if there was anything i should know

If there were any wierd things with the balcony

And NCL told me it was a standard balcony.

So is it uncovered? Please help!

    As per the opening post:

" In between, rooms 9269 through 9286 are uncovered. "

  7. Great job as always David :)

For all of those taking a trip on Celebrity Solstice you are in for a real treat. Don't forget the Bocce, picnics and cocktails on the lawn as well as the Corning Hot Glass show! The nightly fun and games in the Atrium is also very entertaining.

Say hello to 'Junior' if he is at the Molecular bar - as the mastermind behind the cocktail list there, he will mix you up a special cocktail!

And don't miss the multiple martini making at the ice bar in the early evenings ...

  8. I did look at my compasses and all the CD run interactive shows are listed as PG 13. The Comedy is no one under 18, and there is one show at midnight, it is also listed as 18. But you are right Joan, the Love and Marriage newlywed couple on our cruise had a very R rated " audition" They won the opportunity to be on stage, but I can't imagine explaining that you tube video to your kids at;) your 50 th anniversary party!

I have a bit more info on the Comedy Night. My daughter is 17. When I booked online before the cruise, it said that 17 year olds were fine when attending with a parent. When we rocked up on the first night and they swiped our Sea passes, all was fine. The show was great but not packed out that night - at 10.30pm I think. A few older patrons too who did not crack a smile :p But really, the jokes were nothing I had to explain afterwards ... lol

With the Love and Marriage show, the PG13 rating was mentioned continually. I seriously doubt that the comments made by couple 2 on the strangest place they had ever made whoopee would pass the PG13 test

For some reason ... that answer has come up in every similar show (bar one) I've seen on a cruise. I do wonder if it is a set up!!

:) Thank you Kathy for your lovely comments about Brittany.

I've done a NZ cruise on Diamond Princess but there were three other ports to go back for another time for me. It's a great itinerary especially the Fjords cruising day. Spectacular!

  9. I did watch you on the www.portevergladeswebcam.com on sail away day. :D:DI recall the Australian flag.

You can watch your sail away again if you like not sure if you know it is available on www.portfever.com in the archive section ~ sail away replay.

Hey Emmy, thanks for reminding me about the archive. My daughter and I were the Aussie flag wavers :D

Have just spent time reminiscing by watching both our Oasis and Solstice (albeit in the dark I could spot us) sailaways.

Kathy, I'm reliving our cruise through your review. Great job, really enjoying it and was lovely to meet you both.

I share your feelings on the Nassau snorkelling. If anyone gets to come 'down under', although the South Pacific islands are not normally the place to go - there is much, much better snorkelling there on the Isle of Pines, at Lifou and Champagne Bay. As well as on the Great Barrier Reef of course ;)
