  1. I found Tripadvisor very helpful for this. Here is a recent thread but there are others.  Basically one easy way is to book a remise at an airport kiosk...paying a set price with credit cards and foreign currency accepted.  Taxi Ezeiza is one such option. You'll pay at the kiosk and get a receipt at the counter. No need to book in advance - reducing the chances of having to wait around or find the ride you already paid for.

Ultimately paying with cash is best (best price).... and from what I read USD was ok here.  CC a second best option.

We can't even buy pesos in advance where I'm from - it's something I will do once in B.A. (That's a whole other discussion).

As stated in a publication, the rapid anti gen test is not acceptable. They have listed which tests people can use so be sure if you plan on crossing the border you pay close attention to requirements to do so. Looks like for our trip north in July to go fishing we will have to be tested in Bemidji, so we can enter Canada.

I was so caught up worrying about a test pre-cruise that I just realized the logistical issues for the test coming home. We were planning on flying home (re-entering Canada) the day we disembarked but I guess that won't work since tests take 48 hours??? Ughhh.

  3. Ok, here's a photo from up on deck last night that had us all dying. My mom asked for a photo of the three guys: myself, my dad, and my brother in law.

For some reason, it turned out looking like I was introducing a boyfriend to my dad, and my dad not quite approving.

I don't think you're giving your dad enough credit - he looks quite pleased to be in the presence of such a happy couple...

  4. Had to break lurking status but that food porn was too much... I've had dinner but I'm now starving.

Thanks for an awesome play-by-play review. I've never followed one live before - what fun. I can almost imagine I am there! (well not really but thanks anyway!!! ). You have found your calling!

  5. Hi guys,

! I did pick up this cheesecake for dessert (I love cheesecake) and it tasted weird and gross. I took one bite and then pushed it aside. When the crew member cleared up the plates he said that nobody likes that cheesecake, not even the crew! That night might have been our second burn the floor viewing as well, we saw both Burn and Priscilla twice.

    !

That's the second time I've read that someone mentioned the "buffet Cheesecake" was not good... Mental note - don't pick up cheesecake from the buffet!!!

Quick question - did you book the shows twice? I've booked them each once online, but it never occurred to me to go twice.

  6. Hi, my wife and I will be in Barcelona and Mallorca next month as part of our cruise. We are so far the only ones booked on a tour for those dates, and despite my request on CC's roll call for our cruise, no one has stepped up. If at least 2 more people don't sign up, the tours will be canceled and we'll be SOL. If anyone wants to join us, please let us know ASAP! Barcelona is the 15th and Mallorca the 16th, FYI. Thanks, hope to hear from someone!

Great idea! Quilting Cruiser. I would try post-cruise passengers as well. NCL Epic has a cruise that ends in Barcelona on the 14th (the group before mine) - likely there will be passengers staying in Barcelona post cruise (and as such will be free to meet anytime).

    Good luck!

  7. Thanks for the review! A very enjoyable read.

Boarding the Epic on February 14th with my very own "grumpy old man" :D (he's 48  ) but all kidding aside we are very much looking forward to it.

No ship is perfect but like you we appreciate the hard-working crew...and can usually find our way to an amazing time. So glad to hear all your positive comments!

  8. Panic Lady started to freak out and have a very loud conversation with her husband and companions over the aisle about how we were going to miss the ship, because all aboard was at 3 and the ship sailed at 3.30 (god only knows where she got that from).

Her companions didn't bother to correct her, but just sat there ignoring her. I could have told her, of course, but she was providing my in-coach entertainment.

You are so very wicked Squish ! :D :D

  9. Great review - thanks for all the hard work. The pictures are great, as well as the running commentary!

I am greatly enjoying your review. We were on the Jade Jan 9th and although it was cool the first day, nothing like you had. We did not have the UBP and it seemed that the bartenders were overwhelmed. I had never seen so many people in the atrium area bar as soon as they embarked.

Hi there ColdFerret - hope you guys are doing well - we shared some tours on the Canada/New England cruise in the fall of 2014. Fancy meeting you here :)

  10. To access this sun deck, just take either the black glass lifts in front of the buffet to deck 18 (I originally thought these were just for Haven? I don't know if they are but nobody stops you using them) or take the stairs inside up to deck 18, whilst oggling the Haven areas through any open doors on the way. There is two doors out to deck, one is the beach club one and is clearly marked as so, the other is marked as the public sun deck. Just head out here, there's lots of chairs immediatley but if you keep following it round you'll see some arrows pointing to the 'quiet area' which is where we went. There's bathrooms, showers and a waiter bar service so it was pretty sweet up there, although obviously there's no pools or water slides!

Thanks for this! And for covering so many days of your trip ALREADY - Very much appreciated. Had to laugh out loud reading about F having to ration his delicates :) and your thinly-veiled sarcasm of said items.

  11. Our first Med cruise was where I learned the full power of CC. Planning for this trip was almost as much fun as the trip itself.

For us the cruise was a floating hotel and while it's always a pleasure it was a tool and not the mainstay.

I looked at it like an "appetizer platter" for Western Europe, and planned each port day like it would be my last. Some ports were full and busy (Pompeii, country tour, Amalfi coast in Naples), others not so much (Bus tour in am, Sangria on a patio all afternoon, followed by a walk back to the ship along Las Ramblas in Barcelona)

Of course it won't be my last (not if I can help it) but it was an amazing vacation.

This approach does not suit everyone, but it sure did suit us!

I started by reading member reviews for similar itineraries, and port threads. The "what we did" posts were most helpful. Then I narrowed down what we would find interesting, and either booked private tours, or loosely planned a DIY day. (see Toms Port Guides)

Joining the Roll Call was also invaluable, as we joined some private tours others had organized, and once I felt comfortable, organized a couple myself.

  12. This thread was making me nervous - we have a 2 hour 10 minute layover in CDG travelling to Barcelona this February.

I looked up our landing terminal and departure terminal for the connecting flight (2E to 2F as well) and this website gave us an indication of security/travel times between the two spots. Our trip could take up to 40 minutes so we will certainly be mindful of all of this and hustle if need be. Minimum recommended time within terminal two was 60 minutes.

    http://easycdg.com/passenger-information/connecting-flight-connections-paris-cdg-airport/transit-information/

Of course that assumes no flight delays etc. so I'm glad we're arriving to Barcelona well ahead of the cruise so we and/or our luggage can catch up :)
