  1. The masks look great! I wish I could draft patterns and have the outfit come out looking as good as your dress! Great job Lisa.
I have been using this quarantine to go thru my material stash (some if it us over 30 yrs old). So far I have emptied out 3 big tubs of material. My closet has sure shrunk with all that I gave sewn. Today I finished a jumpsuit for formal nights on the ship. I have found some great free patterns on the internet for casual clothes.
Hope everyone is staying safe and well.

Effectiveness aside, the making of masks is giving some of us something to do while we're self-isolating.  It is preventing us from raiding the fridge every 20 minutes (it's tough to sew and eat at the same time), and it's helping take a chunk out of that fabric stash (or 12 old sheets I just cleaned out of the linen closet, simply because I had time) that's been sitting around for a good long while.  I look at it this way; making masks is better than crocheting a jumpsuit for the cat.

We feel productive, and even if they aren't N95 grade, as a famous medical advisor has recently said "they're better than nothing."

    Smooth Sailing!   🙂🙂🙂

I agree 100%.  I have been doing a lot of sewing lately and today I got a request for several masks so I made 22 more. Tomorrow I will be making another 10 or so for friends that have asked for them. Then back to sewing some more new cruise clothes.

    Stay safe and well,

  3. I have been making the masks for my family and for my 2 daughters medical offices.
mother than that I might make a few for some of my neighbors here since we live in a small retirement community and i think it would help them if they are out and about in town. Is drs appts and getting necessities.

  4. Fflash we have stayed in cabin 13052 several times and loved it.

The balcony is huge and yes the overhang is a lot longer but we enjoyed it when it rained we could sit out there and watch it without getting wet.

The bed was by the bathroom and the couch was by the balcony door.

The room seemed much bigger than most other balconies that is why we always booked 13049 or 13052 .

Also just to the right of your cabin is a small elevator bank that is hardly ever used . It came out at the Black crab Restaurant.

As far as noise not really noticeable.

If you need any other info I will be glad to answer them,

Have a great day and great cruise

  5. Hi,

I just pick up this pattern to day. I like to wear pants during the day while on a Caribbean cruise. I also like different types of pants. What do you think of this pattern?

    https://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m7786

I really like that pattern. I like the view with the ruffles down the sides. May have to go to Joann’s and look for the pattern.

We just got back from our 3 month trip. I did a lot of sewing in th RV on this trip. Made several scrubs for my daughter, a couple of outfits for the granddaughter for our October cruise and a couple of outfits for myself from patterns I have made many times.

I don’t know if any of you follow NSC or not but they are doing some really cute projects this time. Now that we are home and I can see during the day maybe I will get some of them done this time.

Hope everyone has a great day ,

    Gerry

  6. Dave thanks million fo all the pics you have posted and for all the info you have given us for the last 2 years. This has been a very long 2 years and discouraging at times and thanks to you and your pictures and info you have kept us all excited. We all appreciate everything you have done for us and the info you have gotten.

We sail in just a couple of days and are very excited.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all you have done in this thread.

    Gerry

  7. Thanks for the pictures! :) I check this thread atleast twice a day for new pictures :D

So, do we know of anyone from these boards who have booked an aurea aft suite that will be traveling early December? I'm so very excited and can't wait to see pictures of those :)

We are booked in the Aft wraparound on Deck 10 on the Dec. 1st cruise. I will be posting pictures.

    Gerry

  8. Indiana, that would be a fabulous surprise. You will have a great cruise.

We will land in Italy on Thanksgiving day this year and spend a week there then board our TA cruise on the MSC Seaside for 21 days. I am so excited so I know how you must be feeling.

Hope everyone has a great Halloween weekend,

    Gerry

  9. Just a quick question and if this is the wrong place to ask please delete the question.

Has anyone heard how the new terminal for the MSC Seaside is coming in Miami and are they going to be bringing the Seaside into the new or the old terminal?

    Thank you in advance

    Gerry

  10. Goo Afternoon ladies,

Well, we got our E-tickets today for our cruise on 1 Dec. We are going to leave here in 38 days to fly to Miami and then to Venice Italy for an 8 day trip thru Italy. Can't wait. I have all of our dress and casual evening clothes packed. I have all my daytime clothes packed and am ready to go. DH still has his daywear to pack but that he is putting in his carry-on.

I have our solar chargers out and charging them, got the cameras all charged (all 8 batteries, I guess I better be planning on a lot of pictures). Have both of my tablets charged and packed. Only thing left to pack is my pillow and winter coat. I am so ready to go.

DH says I am crazy being packed this early but knowing him he would pack on the way to the airport if I would let him. (And we only live 5 minutes from the airport).

It is starting to cool down here in Yuma, so I have been busy doing all the fall cleaning. I have a bad itch to start getting some more sewing done but I don't want to start a bunch of projects and not get them done before we leave.

Hope everyone has a great Columbus day tomorrow.

    Gerry

  11. The thing I least like to do is hand sewing. I am not very good at it and so I put it off until I can't anymore.

I haven't been doing any sewing lately just altering and mending things.

Hoping to get time to make some cargo shorts for myself in the next couple of weeks for our upcoming cruise.

Hope everyone has a great week next week,

    Gerry

  12. Where is Italy are you traveling to?

We are flying to Venice and renting a car to drive to Vicenza for about 4 nights and then to Trieste for 4 nights.

We are planning on going to Slovania, and possibly driving to the Alps.

We also want to go to Aviano and Bolzano.

So mainly staying around the northern part of Italy.

Have you been to Italy before? Any suggestions as to what to see or do or what to do?

I have been researching a lot on Italy and there is a lot that we want to do but not enough time to get to the southern part of Italy and the northern part. So we chose the Northern this time.

On Dec. 1 we board the MSC Seaside to bring her home to Miami to be Christened. Brand new ship and it is still being built.

Awhfy, now all those pies make sense to me. College students can eat the food! I know my grandchildren that are in college seem to be able to eat more than any 3 grown men put together. I really don't know where they put it. :D ;p

    Have a great day everyone,

    Gerry

  13. I also like my windows and doors open while I clean. Makes it hard when the temps outside are 115+ degrees. That is why the last couple days with the temps in the 90's have been so nice.

Well, I got the "cruise" room all cleaned out and ready for my grandson. The only thing that is left to remove is our packed suitcases for our trip to Italy in Nov. and cruise in Dec.

It is supposed to get above 105 tomorrow so I doubt if much happens here as far as cleaning.

Awhfy, are you fixing all those pies and bars for an army? Wow that is a lot of sweets!

Hope everyone has a good evening and enjoys this gorgeous weather.

    A VERY spacious cabin..

Ps this is NOT an official drawing

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I will let you know how close you are on Dec. 1st when I walk into my Aft cabin. I am hoping it will be that spacious. Thanks for going to the trouble to do this so that we can get an idea of the cabin.

    Have a great day,

    Gerry

  15. That should be a lot of fun Indiana. I have never had a professional do my makeup so I really don't know what or how to do it. Maybe that is why I only do the absolutely the very basics when I wear makeup. Most of the time just my face cream with sunscreen and I am out the door.

Enjoy your time and please share pictures.

Now that it is starting to cool down here in Az. I have been trying to get the ambition to do my fall cleaning. I did one room in the house and lost the ambition.

Just found out yesterday that our grandson maybe coming in Dec. to live with us so I will loose my cruise room. Now I really have to get on the stick and get to the deep cleaning and pitching so I can move the cruise room into the craft room closet.

I am going to have to pare down my cruise clothes and reg. clothes so I can fit them back into my closet.

Lot of prep work to do before Dec. I told my daughter he couldn't come until after the 23rd of Dec. since we will be gone some of Nov. and most of Dec.

We will be back home the 23rd and are doing Christmas dinner hare with hopefully all of our kids and grandkids.

That is going to be a full house--26-28 people.

I am on cloud nine. We haven't had the entire family together for about 6 years. Lot of work but I can't wait.

Has anyone else started making plans for Thanksgiving or Christmas yet?

    Have a great day everyone,

    Gerry

  16. I use Lancôme Renergie Multi-Action. I thought I would try some Arbonne because a friend gave me a few samples for a gift and I really liked them. So I went to a party and purchased a starter kit.

After using it for a while I went back to my Lancôme.

For the price of Arbonne I liked the Lancome even better.

I also use Cera-Ve for my body moisturizer . I got started using that after my dermatologist told me about it and gave me several samples.

I also use a lot of the bath and bodyworks products. I especially like their body scrubs. I get a lot of those pesky little bumps on my arms in the summer around here. The body scrubs seem to get rid of them and soften my skin.

We haven't heard whether they were going to change our ports and to what on our Dec1, TA cruise. We won't be in the Caribbean until the 17 of Dec. and that is supposed to be St. Thomas and then the 18th in San Juan. So I guess we will see what happens. We have been to both ports so many times that I probably wouldn't have gotten off the ship anyway. I almost feel like with bringing the ships back in so soon that we are smearing them in the face with how lucky we are. I know going there helps with their economy and the rebuilding of the country but I can't help feeling that way. (Not intending to offend anyone here with my remark. Just my own feeling)

For some happier thoughts, I have been busy getting all my outfits on the spreadsheets and packed in their ziplocks and into the suitcases for the upcoming cruise.

Some of our things are already in Italy waiting on us at a friends house.

This has been an experience in packing for this cruise. We have all 4 seasons to cover as far as clothing goes.

At this point we have 3 pieces of 29 inch spinners for both of us with 1 carry-on ea. and 1 personal item ea.

The packing is hard to do since we both are habitual over packers. Always have to have our "what-ifs"

    with us. ;p:o

Hope everyone has a great weekend,

    Gerry
