  1. Tall-Cruiser,

We are booked in an aft. wrap around Aurea Suite and our paper work doesn't give the size of the cabin. Where did you find your info on the size?

    When are you booked?

Has anyone heard from Mikesa lately? Hope he comes back to the thread.

    Have a great evening everyone,

    Gerry

  2. Saw several women wearing those flowy pants on casual night on our last cruise and decided to make some before next cruise.

I bought some fabulous rayon material when we lived in Hawaii and thought that it would be perfect to use.

The only problem is that it is all cut into squares for a queen quilt. ( I bought it that way)

So I am matching up the squares so that I can sew them all together to make the pants.

Here are a few pics of the squares and then one of the strips I have already seen together. There are two main designs but I am only using this one.

What does everyone think, is it going to look ok?

  3. Booked Seaside on the 23rd via voyagers club. Going on Jan,27 2018 in the Yacht Club, inside room with all the YC stuff. What a deal for a great price.....$1215 pp plus tax and they gave us the drink package for outside YC. Can't wait to go.

We are also booked on this cruise. We are in the aft wraparound Aurea Suite. This will be our first wrap around suite. We are so excited about this cruise.

    Have a great day,

    Gerry

  4. Been busy making sunglass cases with embroidery designs on them and making kitchen towel and pot holder sets. I have also made 3 decorated mesh wreaths to give to the neighbors, still have 2 left to make.

One of my friends has an Australian Shephard so on the towel set and sunglass case I embroidered a picture of the dog on them. On one the sunglass case the dog looks just like hers. The towel set came out a little darker than her dog.

My oldest daughter is a big Olaf fan so I embroidered Olaf on the beach on her towel set and sunglass case.

My moms set has Lotus blooms on it. They all came out really cute.

I still have 3 more towel sets to go to be finished.

I am really enjoying my new embroidery machine.

I am hoping to be done by Wed. so I can go to Joann's and get some material and a pattern for my granddaughter to sew on Sat. while she is here. She really likes sewing and can sit for hours and concentrate on what she is making. Which is amazing considering she has a severe case of ADHD.

Sewing is the only activity we have found that she will do that with. So I will make sure when she is here to have things she can work on.

It helps that she loves to sew as much as she does.

Hope everyone has a great week,

    Gerry

  5. Indiana, have a great cruise.

We are doing a short 2 nighter on the 10th so that will hold us off until after Christmas and New years and then the packing will commence.

Going to go much lighter this time.

We realized that it was too much for Tom to handle all of the suitcases by himself since I couldn't be a lot of help this time. Not as much strength in my hip as I would like yet.

Bought some new luggage today that is much lighter than our polycarbonate pieces so that should help. Also it will be 5 months since my hip replacement so I should be able to help more with the luggage.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and survived the Black Friday shoppers.

    Have a great day tomorrow,

    Gerry

  6. Being retired and not having an kids at home (outside of a very spoiled Chi-pom and an old stubborn cat) I have a lot of free time to sew.

I clean the house one or 2 days every week. I also cook dinner every night and clean the kitchen.

But with it only being the 2 of us the house stays clean most of the time.

I sew a lot of times in the evening after Tom gets home from work. He has his computer on and the T.V. and his tablet and wouldn't know if I was there or not. (Not complaining-he has a very high stress job with the govt. so he needs that decompressing time.)

When my kids were younger and when I was babysitting the grands everyday it was a lot harder to find time to sew. So I definitely understand. I just really like being retired and having my time to me.

    Happy sewing everyone,

    Gerry

  7. I had a real wonderful :( sewing project today. My DH's old, old terry cloth bathrobe was missing its pocket. Who knows where it went and how long ago. So, I used a wash cloth, cut it to size, serge the edges and made a pocket. He must have had this robe at least 30 years. But he like it.

Most of the time the old and tired items are the ones that repair the easiest. Tom has several things that he has had since we were married that he will never get rid of. I just have to repair them. LOL

  8. The skirts took about 5 hours total but that included a lot of rethreading Mali's machine and ripping out many mistakes. (all part of learning when you are only 10).

The embroidery took about an hour and a half to make the Bronco helmet and about an hour to make Olaf. The average pattern that I have made takes at least 30 min. depending on how many color changes you have and how many mistakes I make.

I have been having a ball with the new machine and Mali loves her little sewing machine. Chloe would rather play instead of sewing so we need to find some really simple things for her.

    Have a great sewing day,

    Gerry

My granddaughters where here today and wanted to sew with their machines so they made skirts while I helped them and did part of the little ones green skirt. It's amazing how fast a 5 yr old looses attention to sewing. [emoji3]

The other 2 pics are a couple of the things I have made with the new machine. I am in love with that machine!!!

    Have a great sewing weekend,

    Gerry

  10. I got my regular sewing machine about 15 years ago and I still have to refer to the manual at times. Especially if I haven't used the machine for awhile. I just chalk it up to getting old. :D

There is a lot to learn on the new machine. Can't wait for all my threads and extra stuff come in. They are sending the thread and stabilizer separate. That should be here on Tues. So I have this weekend to learn the machine and maybe go to Joanns or Hobby Lobby and get some thread to try to embroider on it.

    Have a great weekend,

    Gerry

  11. TNGALOHA,

Have you used the folders? They are great.

Yes, I have. In fact I have a big one that I use for Tom's suits and long sleeved shirts. I also have some smaller ones that I made but aren't using them this time because I got everything in the cubes. I have my shoes in my carry-on in the bags that I made for them. Inside each pair of shoes is my pantyhose and spanx that I am wearing with that pair of shoes. ( except tennis they have my socks)

Geo, my new machine is being delivered today. I am so excited. I'll post pics on the other thread when I get it all set up.

Hope everyone has a great weekend,

    Gerry
