  1. We're booked on the Escape this coming fall and we're interested in getting passes to Vibe. It sounds like the secret is to be a part of boarding group #1 to be successful with Vibe passes. What's the best way to assure being part of boarding group #1 if we are booked in a regular balcony cabin? Any hope for Vibe passes?

    Thanks!!

  2. We will be on a Viking Rhine river cruise from Basel to Amsterdam, departing Dec 15th. My wife is an avid bridge player and asked me today if there will be bridge onboard. I don't have an answer for her, although I'm sure it depends on our fellow passengers. Does anyone know if Viking promotes bridge playing by offering to help organize times, similar to what happens on ocean cruises?

Better yet, are there any readers cruising on the Viking Kara, Dec 15th that would be interested in playing bridge?

  3. Just wondering if someone (Notamermaid??) might be able to post an update to the water levels on the Rhine. I've been checking Viking's "current sailings" update, and haven't seen any changes for several days now. That leads me to believe that as of now, there may not be a low-water level issue. My wife and I are on the Viking Kara departing Basel on Dec 12th.

    Thanks for any updates!!

  4. Does anyone have experience with action Scenic Cruises takes when the river water is too low? In 2 weeks, some good friends will be on the Danube with Scenic, sailing from Budapest to Nuremberg. Does Scenic tend to cancel, use motorcoaches or transfer from river boat-to-river boat?

    Thanks!

  5. We are sailing on the Eurodam in January and had some questions about the Greenhouse Spa Retreat and the Cabanas.

    1) Greenhouse Spa...if we do not purchase the week-long pass, but we book a massage in the Spa, do we have access to the Thermal Suites and Hydro Pool for that day?

    2) Cabanas...for the Cabanas on the lido deck, the pictures show one oversize bed-type lounger. Is it possible to get/fit 2 regular lounge chairs instead?

    3) Cabanas...are you able to open the divider if you get two Lido Cabanas next to one another to make one large Cabana that would seat 4?

    Thanks!

  6. Dubrovniktravelady...Thank you for all your helpful comments. Please excuse me if I repeat some questions--I haven't had a chance to read all of your postings. We will be visiting Dubrovnik on Wednesday, Oct 24th. We will be on the Wind Surf. Do you know where it will dock? maybe Old Town port? How far is that from the entrance to the walled city?

    Thanks for your help!

  7. Was the room considerably larger than a normal room? Were the beds available either as twins or king? Did the bathroom have a bathtub? Was there a separate shower and did the water from the shower stay contained in the shower (we've been in some handicapped rooms where the water was all over the floor)? Were there loungers on the balcony or just chairs? Any problems with the room?

Thanks so much for input-if you have any pictures, I'd love to see them-you can email them to cruiserdoc at aol dot com. Thanks!

  8. We are excited about our upcoming tour with Rudy and Tour by Van! He has been very accomodating for our group. I look forward to our visit to Acapulco, and you can be sure, I will check in after our tour for comments!! Those of us who value Cruise Critic as a resource for our travel needs depend upon accurate, honest & objective, first-hand experience.

  9. I sailed on her twice. A 7 day Western Caribbean itinerary in 1975 or 76 and a 3 day out of LA in the early 90's. It was pretty amazing pulling out my old pictures the second time around. The casino on the later cruise was where a pool had been earlier!!! It's also amazing to see the differences in those old ships and the new ones. like the DAWN & JEWEL.
