  1. Absolutely! Worth every penny! We have done a private tour twice, just us (two) and the tour guide. We get to go pretty much anywhere we want that way and have successfully avoided the monkey tour both times! Our tour driver was Ben Hernandez both times, he usually drives the bus on a larger tour but we were able to request him for the day last fall.

Look up their rating on Trip Advisor, it is stellar!

  2. We have done the opposite multiple times. October, and now it November when it ends. Interestingly, several times the ship changed time (I mean ships time) one day BEFORE the actual end of Daylight Savings Time. I thought it was strange at the time, and then I actually thought a bit about it and decided it was probably safer. It got us used to the time change a day early (I'm thinking these were probably Sea Days, it's been a few years) and lessened the chance for mistakes one might make on the actual day. It was well publicized. Fun Times, ED or CD announcements and even printed as a reminder and left in the cabin with the other days literature.

  3. The only lobster we have seen is at Ocean Blue (last on the Escape April 2018). Ocean Blue on the Bliss in June 2018 did not have any lobster.

However, the Bliss had an “Alaskan Dinner” with crab in the Garden Cafe.

Oh Lawd, oh my, oh goodness, oh, oh, oh! Those are the most beautiful pics I've ever seen! I could spend hours there! :D:D:D

  4. Yetis are double walled stainless steel cups, tumblers and bottles. They are just one brand and while once they were the only one, there are now numerous knock offs that work just as well. RTIC is one, Corkcicle is another. Even Walmart has their own brand that stands up fairly well against a Yeti. I carry a double walled vacuum canteen to work every day, it keeps a drink cold for 25 hours with just a few ice cubes.

We take Corkcicle canteens, for a couple of reasons. One of them is that they are vacuum sealed - so a soda lasts a very long time without going flat (or hot) and you can fill them with liquid, cap them off and throw them in your backpack for a day in port with no spills.

If I was a big drinker, I'd probably take cups instead (Corkcicle or Yeti, we have both) but I don't drink enough for it to make a difference and for me, having an ice cold water in by backpack is more important!

  5. I promise both you and your wife that you CAN do this on your own! For far less and far easier than you might imagine. Cozumel is probably the easiest port in the Caribbean to do on your own.

I've been to Chakanaab five or six times and it was the second port I ever visited. My best friend (two women) and I politely got off the ship, waltzed to the back of the shopping area and hailed a taxi. The rates are published right there on the sign and it will take about 12-15 minutes max to get there. Coupons are available on the internet for about a $2 savings per person per ticket.

When you want to leave, walk back to the gate and taxis will be lined up to take you back to the port. There are hosts who will hail one from the line and bring it right up to you, you don't even have to walk over to them.

The food is good, very inexpensive and you will have waiter service right to your chair if you are lounging on the beach!

I'm sorry but I feel like Carnival excursions are like elegant cattle calls and Cozumel is one of those places it really, really isn't required. You can have a much better time if you are in control instead of being herded. Just my .02 cents.

  6. Yes, I have an indoor Nest camera and with the Premium plan I didn't have any problems logging in.

(Don't laugh, but I also have Hue Lights and logged in to my lights and turned them on at night and off in the morning! And I'm sure I confused my neighbors by changing the colors of the lights each night!)

  7. Somehow we've missed St Martin/St Marteen and I wish we'd been able to experience it pre-hurricane. It's still on the bucket list but I've moved it down a few slots! Very thankful we got to experience both Dominica and Tortola pre-hurricane.

Top of the bucket list and completely unreasonable are the South Pacific Islands. Never gonna happen, I have no rich uncles and don't play the lottery! :D

Less unreasonable are Hawaii and West Coast/Western Mexico and a Panama Canal cruise. Might happen, probably won't but one can dream!

I've been to most Caribbean ports, Europe and the Med don't interest me and for whatever reason DH has resisted Alaska, so I'm sort of left with where would I like a repeat performance? Those are easy and hopefully I'll get to make them again. They were all shining stars in my mind!

    In no particular order:

    Aruba

    Curacao

LaRomana DR (not interested in Amber Cove)

Costa Maya (solely for a repeat performance at Maya Chan)

    Tortola

    Dominica

    St Croix

    St Lucia

  8. Excellent time to use Carnival Gift Cards. You can find them at your local Lowe's Home Improvement Center, or at a Publix (and several other retailers) or at https://carnival.ourgiftcards.com/

I had an entire stack of them last cruise. Not one, not three, not six but I think I had seven or more. I buy them with lesser amounts when I have extra cash and save them for the cruise. Plus, I get them for birthdays, Christmas and even got one for an Anniversary and as a gift from my co-workers.

  9. You may. Hubby and I share one login between 4 devices every cruise (a tablet and a phone for each of us).

And you could knock each other off of it as recent as October last year. (Think dial up, remember when you could knock somebody off of your AOL account way back when? - Kids nowadays probably wouldn't believe it if you tell them, but that actually used to be pretty common if you shared AOL accounts, oh my, showing my age here and just how darn long I've actually been using the internet :D)

  10. Are you using a phone? Because if you are, they posted this on their page at the book of faces just 4 days ago.

When we launched PTZtv Premium, we said we were totally committed to maintaining ad-funded, free-to-view webcam websites **provided** the online advertising industry remained viable and healthy. That is still true.

However, display advertising is no longer working for us on smart phones. Effective immediately ... some of the most popular free-to-view sites will redirect to our fee-based PTZtv Premium service when viewed on a phone. Today that includes Port Everglades, Port Canaveral, Port Nassau and Port Bermuda but the list may change over time.

Desktop, laptop and tablet viewing should be unaffected by this change.

PTZtv Premium subscriptions (or one-time access passes) will work across all devices, regardless of where purchased.

  11. We sailed last October/November on the Magic. I prepaid for the Premium plan and thought it worked fine. I didn't have a computer, just a couple of tablets and a couple of smart phones but I didn't have any issues.

The most amazing thing was that half way through the cruise, my text messages started coming thru via WiFi (Verizon, didn't work the first half - came home, researched and found that it happens frequently but not reliably). Yes, it was work who was texting me and boy was I surprised!

I used news sites, CC, email, social media, even downloaded new Kindle books with no issues. Basically I just continued my online life onboard and didn't notice many issues at all. I will say that I have never tried just the Social or the Value packages, only the Premium on both of our last several cruises.

  12. Victor Bodden in Roatan. You can book a private tour and pretty much do what you want. I usually combine snorkeling with lobster along with an island tour.

We've used Victor's business twice now and been extremely happy with our days in Roatan!

(We've had Ben Hernandez as our guide both times, the second one by request, but he usually drives a tour bus)

This is Tabyana Beach in West Bay.

  13. We stayed on Lido. Up the stairs and out on the starboard side, past the open area above the pool. Not the best smoking section, extremely windy, right up against the intake for the Whale's Tale. And don't watch the red embers roll down the deck after dark - will scare the heck out of you and you'll realize how damn dangerous their choice of our smoking areas really are!
