  1. Can one person buy the soda package and the other person buy the alcohol package?

No, but you get unlimited mixers/soda with the UBP. Here is website info for NCL: http://www.ncl.com/promo/ultimate-beverage-package/terms

A 15% gratuity plus any applicable taxes will be added to all package purchases. Packages must be purchased by all qualifying individuals residing in the stateroom or additional staterooms under the same method of payment for the entire length of the cruise. Packages may not be shared and are non-transferable and non-refundable. You must be at least 21 years of age to purchase any alcoholic package and to consume alcohol. See the terms of our guest alcohol policy. Other terms and conditions may apply. This package is not available for purchase on charters, 1-2 day sailings and Pride of America. Also not available during blackout dates of March 1 – April 15, applies to sailings that includes these dates. Blackout dates do not apply to Norwegian Jade or Norwegian Spirit.

  2. All of them. I don't mean to be smart, I just print and staple all the edocs and they rip off the one they need. I think the first page. Security also looks at the papers at the terminal door before you go through xray. The other pages have your reservations you've prebooked and your contract. Always good to have with you. Bring your passport too! :)

  3. Well, I half used it on the Epic. Meaning we were travelling with 7 people and didn't want to pay $8 per phone for the messaging. We just got together in the am and pm and discussed our plans. Kids had to meet us for dinner unless they asked permission to meet other kids. (We had 3 teens in our group). They lived without texting all week!

I have an iPhone and had few problems using the other features. I say few because one day we looked at the menus for Taste (smaller MDR) and we determined by the app that we would eat there. The app said that Taste was to have a certain dish however, when we actually got to Taste they were showing Saturday nights menu instead of Thursday's. I could have my days mixed up but still it pissed a few of us off. It was great you could look at tours, entertainment, dining, your account, etc. I was even able to book a specialty restaurant through the app while I was at the pool lounging around! It worked!

When you get on board, (or before ship leaves port) put phone in airplane mode and leave wifi on. It uses the ships wifi to get all your account info. Be careful though, it sucks the life out of your battery. I just turn the wifi on when I need to look at the app. If you do purchase the messaging you will need the wifi on always. We met a few people using the messaging app but it was hit or miss in some areas. Maybe someone can post who has used that part of the app.

  4. Is there a min age for spa use?

Could i split it up a couple days between my 2 daughters?

    Thanks

You have to be 18 and you cannot split it. Last time I bought a pass they had stickers and placed them on my card. They do offer spa passes on port days.

  5. Nope, as Demonyte said not til after. We were turning Platinum during our cruise a couple of weeks ago. Only Gold perks. However when we got back my tier did auto change right away. Now contemplating what cruise I want for my first Platinum sail! Oh the decisions! :D :p

  6. I just went to book and really hate that you have to pay up front for reservations now. I really wanted to use my OBC and they make it impossible.

I so agree with you. I wish we had a choice, not mandatory. I get some people want to pay for everything before, but some of us don't because of that very reason. I only pre-booked 2 items before we left on our last cruise only because we were travelling with my BIL and SIL and they have never cruised. They wanted to be sure they got the Cirque dinner and the Murder Mystery Lunch and we wanted to all go together. Maybe someday it will change. (Probably they will make us prepay the entire cruise!)

  7. We were just on the Epic and pool guy approached us to buy liquor for the cabin. Mixers were unlimited. I know they start you off with a few cans but you just ask for more. We decided not to. It was day 3 and we don't drink that much but to some it's worth it.

  8. Awesome that your daughter is going with you! She has plenty of time to get a passport. It takes around 4-6 weeks. Usually closer to 4 but we are getting close to summer when many travel. Download the form off the internet. Get photos taken at Walgreens, AAA, or some other drugstore. You can even do it yourself but you have to get the photo the right size. If she gets her passport now it's good for 10 years and she can travel on short noticed. This just happened to my BIL, he booked a spring cruise with only 2 weeks. He had a passport and the rates were fantastic. My son has had a passport since he was 3 and he is now 15. It's just easier to have and keep up with.

  9. We were on the Sun this past December and the sofa bed is more like a futon I would say. My DS (14 almost 15) slept on it. Ask for a foam topper. He has slept on these cruise sofa beds for many years. It's kind of hard. No springs, but only room for one person. He slept okay and for a preteen girl it would be fine. My son is very big for his age. He was around 6'1" and 240lbs and he's a football player. On spring break we finally opted to get him his own inside cabin across the hall and that worked out great. Your other daughter would probably sleep on a Pullman coming from the wall or ceiling. We had a 3 person cabin. So I'm not sure how the arrangements work with 4 in a room.

  10. I have been on cruises where the parents brought a small inflatable baby pool and they kept it between their lounge chairs. Filled it with a sand pail. Not a lot of water just enough to splash in.

  11. The picture in that blog looks like the stage is in the middle with seating all around.

However, when I do a search on google, it looks like there's a stage behind it.

This picture shows 2 tables up on the stage. Should I assume this is what the other poster was talking about having 2 tables for 4 people? That just seems weird and like if it would be in the way of the performance.

I find pictures of the "booths", that I have to say look pretty "cozy" to me, but yet just how far away are they?

When you look at pictures, like the following, the booths look pretty far away and I can't imagine the little ones being able to see. (Although I don't know if this is an actual picture or just a rendering).

    illusionarium-norwegian-getaway.jpg

I wish I could find a picture of someone actually standing on the stage taking a picture out at the seats to see how far it looks away from there.

Objects in mirror are closer than they appear! Lol.

  12. My thinking is that this theater is the same size as the Spiegel Tent on the Epic. I don't know for sure because I have not been on the Getaway or the Breakaway. I did just get off the Epic for the second time and we did go see the Cirque show. Different than 4 years ago. New costumes and story. That room was kind of small but had 2 levels. Btw the top level is now premium seating. I know you're leaving soon and need to make reservations. I would book later in the week and when you board on day 1 take a peak and see what the venue looks like.

You can always try to change your reservation.

  13. I googled "illusionarium photo" and the result was renderings of the area. However, there is one photo from someone's blog that shows how high the stage is next to the dining tables and a performer standing on the stage. Maybe that will help. http://travelswithanthony.wordpress.com/tag/illusionarium/ he has a short review of the Getaway which may be of some help to you.

I also found this German Blog but they have a picture of the empty Illusionarium and that may give you a better idea of layout.

  14. Over Christmas we were on the Sun and my husband and son(15yo) decided to take the excursion through NCL. (we rarely book through cruise line) They chose to dive in St. Lucia. I know it's not St. Thomas but just so you have an idea of other ports. No cattle call. There were maybe 8-10 divers and they picked up by dive boat at the ship and returned them there. There would have been no room for observers. This was a regular dive boat, nothing huge. I enjoyed my morning on the ship free of people! :D I was actually able to see them return to the pier from my balcony. My husband and son brought their own skins, booties, mask, snorkel, and fins. They had a blast and he would not hesitate to book through NCL again. We did just get off the Epic but they chose not to scuba this time. We had family cruising with us this trip and they have never cruised before so we spent time with them. :)

  15. When you leave your cabin does some smart genie turn off all non-essential

electricity to your cabin ? Something missing or I am not clear on what was

    posted.

On all new ships (Epic, Breakaway, Getaway) there is a slot holder when you enter your cabin that you need to put a key card or other similar size card so that the lights and AC will work.

  16.

Thanks for your info. Does anyone know how to make a regular digital clock to work in room. previous post said it wont work:confused:

I would just bring one along with an extension cord. I plugged my camera, husbands iPad, and iPhone in and the time was never altered on those devises. Maybe because they are digital devises. Test the clock when you first get in the room. Leave for 2 hours and see if time has changed.

  17. [QUO TE=alwayssingin;42379962]I'm not so sure my SIL would agree! Last week on the Getaway her smartphone was 3-4 hours off from the time we left Miami to the time we returned! :p

If your SIL has an iPhone then she needs to go to "settings" " general" "date & time" turn off "set automatically" the date and time should appear. Tap on that and change time manually. Worked just fine this past week on the Epic. There is a procedure for android also.

FYI You can also put in a grocery or drug store reward card and that will keep your electricity going.

  18. Water and soda okay to carry on as long as they are originally sealed. Put in rolling duffle so it's easier to carry on. You can slap luggage tags on it and it will get delivered, but I always worry about opening a can after all that jostling around. I wouldn't want to take a cherry coke bath! :D We have done several NCL cruises (we are Platinum) and they have always had milk cartons in the buffet area. However, we have not sailed on the Sky. You can ask for milk in the dining room. (no charge) Hope that helps some.
