We love the aft wrap cabins!! Only downside is that if you get open water in Alaska you are going to feel the movement of the ship a bit more than something in the middle. However, we love the views and to us it's worth it. (If you're sailing inside passage...it's a no brainer...do the aft view!!)

Hi All,

I'm trying to prep for our first cruise to Norway that leaves out of Amsterdam this June. For a cruise leaving out of Amsterdam (and we'll be there a couple days before departure) how much cash to bring with us and if Euros or Kroners would be best? We have a card with a chip in it so no worries there, but for little things here and there would want a bit of cash just in case.

We're still 30-somethings and really like sailing on HAL. It's lower key than other cruise lines we've been on. (I still like NCL a lot though for their suites/Haven areas.) HAL has always been a great vacation for us though and the new Koningsdam I'm really excited about. The bit about sailing with seniors...we actually love it and every couple of years we take our grandmother along with us. She LOVES it..she has her own room and all that and she's basically pampered the entire trip. Plus, it's awesome to see her get out and have a good time.

I'll take sailing with seniors over kiddos any day. :)

We really liked the Noordam when we went to Alaska on her this past August. Had a great cruise...I'm sure you'll have a great trip!!

I'd vote for August. Much better sailing the second time we went in August vs September weather wise. But if you're going to be in Alaska for 2 weeks...odds are you're going to get some rain...and likely experience all the seasons.

jtl513...I think Helen was just trying to be helpful...not spam/salesy which those rules prevent from happening to the boards.

I do appreciate everyone's advice. We had been using a PCC for some time now and the level of service has just been poor at best. I guess my thought by using a HAL pcc was that they were directly involved with the cruise line and thought they would tend to know more about that line's cruises. And I totally get that good service and bad service can happen anywhere you choose to do business, but I did want to see how others had handled it.

I'm just about at my wits end. I asked for her help with 2 different bookings and good day...I get more info from my bulldog, Frank. I'll reach out to a few contacts tomorrow and see if I can luck into a good TA or PCC. Thanks for everyone's help/advice!

Has anyone ever had issues with their PCC from HAL? Experiencing customer service issues and think it might just be better to cancel with HAL and then find a good agent. Did know if others have had issues...any suggestions?
