That was exactly what a PVP we once used told us. We had been regular balcony pax in the past and she told us that we would probably be unhappy in a cove as the opening is cut out of the sheet metal in the hull and it has a very closed in feeling. When we saw one (on the Breeze cabin crawl back in 2012 - we totally agreed - it was dark, obstructed and totally a different feeling from a regular balcony). She also told us that the folks who most liked the coves would likely be pax who traditionally booked OV or inside cabins, as this was a 'step up' and one could access the 'outside air'. We have chosen to stick with our regular mid ship balcony (on Deck 8 for more privacy on Dream class/Vista class ships due to Promenade below). To each his own as they say! Just our opinion!

We had booked many balconies before booking a cove but the cove is one of our favorite balconies. the four times that we have sailed on the Dream class ships we have booked the cove and have a cove booked for our upcoming November cruise. Just our opinion.

salt water is very very corrosive to steel of the ship

most of the rust spots i seen on ships is where things rub against the paint causing the paint to lose its protection and allows rust to from. most common areas is the front and aft  mooning ropes when it is winched onboard the ship, deck 0 area where the tender/water shuttles bumpers rub against the ship and the around the area where they drag the gangway out and into the ship

We just got back from our cruise on the Legend on 12/15 and the ship was rusty, our balcony was very rusty.

Thanks for that info! Right now I’ve pinpointed 2 cabins within the specific category that I want. One is midship, but you can see the lifeboats a couple of decks straight down, and the other one is towards the very aft but with no lifeboats. I’m wondering if it’s better to sacrifice the midship location in order to have a straight down unobstructed view. Any suggestions? Thanks!

We just got off the Legend Sunday, a partial canal journey cruise. We were on deck 4 toward the back starboard, we had a great view.

  4. I've been enjoying your review. You've finally made it to my backyard. I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys did in this area. We've never been to the Rustic Inn Crab House, because we're afraid it's yet another tourist trap. Would you recommend it for locals?

We ate there a 2 or 3 years ago, it was good but very crowded. We recommended it for some family that live outside of Fort Lauderdale.

Thanks for reading and the kind words! There are seven Carnival ships that we have not sailed yet, though a couple of them are booked. They are the Imagination, Inspiration (booked), Spirit, Freedom, Valor (booked), Vista, and Horizon. Don't know if we'll ever sail them all, especially since we will never go to Galveston to board a ship.

We thought the same thing about Galveston but couldn't pass the 14 night Panama Canal Journeys Cruise on the Freedom in October 2019. We don't have as far to drive since we are in North Georgia.
