Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. just got an answer from Oceania. For this cruise it anchors off Positano, which agrees with the on-line port schedules.
  2. Sept 29th out of almost Barcelona, LOL. And this is exactly why it is unclear. It looks like there is good ferry service between the two cities if we want to explore whichever city we're not in.
  3. We'll be stopping in "Amalfi/Positano" in October. Does anyone know which of the two Oceania actually anchors off of? The cruise port schedules on cruisemapper, etc. show them in Positano but I have heard elsewhere that they anchor off Amalfi. Thanks.
  4. And if anything kills cruising, it's going to be the air fares. I can afford the cruise; getting there, not so much!
  5. Any suggestions for bars, etc. in Puerto Plata that might have a good selection of high-end rums to try? I'm looking for things like Ron Quorhum 15, 23, or 30 year; Marti Oliver's Presidente 15yr or 19yr; Punta Cana Club Esplendido (or pretty much any of Oliver & Oliver's higher end rums); Brugal 1888 Gran Riserva; older Ron Barcelos, etc.
  6. We paid for an upgrade to "Premium Economy" for flights on our air inclusive Oceania cruise. What do the Premium Economy seats look like on international flights? Are they just extra leg room? Or are they larger seats with a foot rest and perhaps included cocktails? Is one bag each included? We are trying to figure out if choosing the premium economy upgrade was worth it. Thank you.
  7. What has been peoples experience with Oceania provided air from say LA or Seattle gateways to Barcelona? Do they keep it simple with say a non or one stopper or go for absolute cheapest and maybe two stops? If they get crazy, like LAX to Chicago to Rome to Barcelona, we'll do our own air. Thanks
  8. Hopefully you'll get a more authoritative answer, but its likely Celebrity uses Taino Bay right in Puerto Plata for two reasons. First, Amber Cove is owned by Carnival Corp., so it's doubtful it would be used by their competitor Celebrity, a Royal Caribbean company. Second, we will be there in March of next year. Carnival Mardi Gras & Freedom will also be docked at the same time and Amber can't dock three ships of that size at the same time which again implies Celebrity uses Taino Bay.
