  1. We are not wine drinkers and have no clue about wine so we started to investigate if this plan was worth it and this is what we did and learned:

We did our own wine tasting.

    1. Took the list to Total Wines.

    2. Asked for their recommendations.

    a. They said the wines in group 1 were $5 to $6 wines.

    b. So we decided to pick from the middle group.

    c. We bought the Greisling and Avalon.

    d. Decided to go with the Avalon. Which there were two of the same one from Sanoma $8.99 and one from Napa $16.99. We bought the Napa and we enjoyed it.

Got to the ship and when we looked at the list, they changed the list on us. They said it happens based on availability. So, we asked one of the employees selling the wine and he said to talk to this other fellow that new more about wines. He said that they have their own proprietary wine (North and South) that was a very good wine and was the best choice. He gave us a small sample and it was alright. Obviously this wine was from the premium group but the gentleman seemed sincere so we went for it.

Very convenient to order. Throughout the week we ordered our bottles from the MDR, lounges, the theater, Illusionarium, etc. Also, they had these self serve wine vending machines and they had the Avalon from Napa which was our preference but not in the package.

Conclusion, most wines in the package are inflated by 15-20 dollars which is the corkage fee so unless you drink a certain wine or want to bring a premium wine it makes sense to purchase the package for convenience.

  2. I'm just curious if the entire pool is that depth, or if one end is shallow, and that is the deepest part. I like standing around in a pool, so I kind of hope to be able to touch bottom without having to wear my stilettos. Thanks.

Entire pool is that deep. There were only 2 or 3 people in the middle. Everyone was either sitting on the edge with their feet in the water or they were in the water holding holding on to the edge. Also there is a large tanning shelf about 4inches deep all around the pool were some got chairs and placed in the shelf.

  3. What is the difference between the buffet seating or floor seating?

Buffet seating is actually booths all around the back of the room. Not great views. Floor (priority) seating is closer to the stage. Worth $5 to get floor.

  4. I was on the Getaway 4/26 and Sinan was great. He is very funny, energetic and was all over the place. He even had small parts in the productions. I think I will remember him for a long time. 12+ cruises and I can only recall a couple of CD. Great job Sinan!!! You see some, you see none (Sinan). That is how you pronounce his name.

  5. Hi

Ah ok. I figured she had to be someone important. I thought I saw a brief shot of Sinan, it looked like it was taken during one of the late night parties at Spice H20. But I could be wrong.

The Happy video played in the NCL channels in the staterooms. And yes, that lady is Julie.

I was on the Getaway week of 4/26 and was expecting that song to he overplayed but it was less than expected. My last cruise Blurred Lines was overplayed and it took me a while to enjoy the song again.

The NCL version of Happy was played on the final farewell show.

  6. I am not impressed with the food on NCL. Just off the Getaway and in the main dinning room the food was bland and uneventful. Seems that you need to pay for the specialty restaurants to get a very good meal. All the reviews of good food seem to come from NCL loyalists as maybe that is what they are accustomed. Don't get me wrong, I did not have a bad meal but I always expect cruise dinning to be special in the main dinning.

  7. We had a bump cabin on Explorer of the Seas and there were two major points. The good is that when looking out to sea your peripheal vision is that you do not see the cabins on the side and you feel like you are in the front of the line. The bad, when you look side ways and back you see all the other balconies and I guess they can see you as well. Depends how private you want to be.
