  1. Would it be too much trouble for NCL to release a statement regarding Harvest Caye as to what will and will not be included?

It would put an end to all this speculation and help their customers plan their vacations.

Are they engaging in this evasiveness deliberately or am I being naïve in thinking that they either don't know about all this speculation or they just don't care?

    Any thoughts?

  2. My husband and myself have sailed Carnival, Royal Caribbean and NCL. Just before the Sky went free UBP for everyone, we took my sister on a 4 day cruise on the Sky. We chose this cruise because it would have been her introduction to cruising.

We loved it! We were in a suite and our concierge and butler were great. We had free drinks and free specialty dining. We ate at the buffet, main dining rooms and speciality restaurants. We thought the food overall was very good (and my husband is a bit of a food snob) Staff was wonderful! Entertainment was great!

Because of our experience on the Sky, my sister and I sailed on the Gem November 2015. It was the first sailing after dry dock. Again, we were in a suite but not Haven. We had a good time in spite of NCL not because of it. The ship was not ready to sail with public areas not open and our suite was an embarrassment to the NCL line. Pool slide was down for the entire cruise. Spa was fantastic. The butler was great but the concierge was non existent.

The food in the main dining rooms was far better than the speciality restaurants (with the exception of the Italian restaurant) Staff was wonderful, again.

There were many other problems but this thread is not about the Gem so I will not elaborate.

So when it came time to book another cruise, my sister wanted to try a large ship. So, who do we choose? NCL of course!

We will try once more on the Getaway this November in a Haven suite.

I researched several different cruise lines before booking and decided that NCL still offers what we are looking for - on paper at least.

I did comment to my husband that I thought the Sky would become a party boat once they offered the UBP to everyone - especially since it sails out of Miami. I am sorry to hear that it has gone downhill since this happened.

Perhaps the OP will be happier on a newer, larger NCL ship. We are willing to give them one more try.

  3. I have been reading these boards and I am very confused about the perks and offers while staying in a Haven Aft Facing Balcony on the Getaway. My husband, sister and myself are booked into this cabin in November and I have some questions that I hope someone can answer.

My husband and myself are the first two booked in the cabin so I understand that will give us the UBP, UDP, WiFi, excursion credit. My sister will be the third guest and has taken advantage of the "Free at Sea". Will she have complete access to all the Haven amenities? We have already purchased a dining package to match ours and will put a hefty OBC on the account to cover her drinks.

We just want to make sure that she has the same cruise experience that we do. Thanks

  4. We are sailing on the Getaway end of Nov/2016 in a Haven suite and would like to know if there is a window of time that opens to be able to book online specialty restaurants and entertainment. Also, I understand that the Haven restaurant serves dinner. Does anyone know the upcharge for the Haven at dinner and where I could find a menu posted? Thank you

  5. Thank you for your responses but I didn't ask about switching passengers around. My husband and I are passengers 1 & 2 and my sister is passenger 3. Passengers 1 & 2 have free UBP. I don't know if we have to purchase UPB for passenger 3 or could we buy OBC and use this to cover her drinks. Would the OBC have to be assigned to passenger 3 or is it just attached to cabin. We are Canadians and Norwegian has quoted us $870.00 for the UBP. Cost of $500.00 OBC would be $667.00 and would allow for 6 to 8 drinks per day. Plenty for her. What do you think

  6. Hi Everyone:

We are sailing on the Getaway (Haven aft facing) in November. We received several promotions - two of which are free UBP for the first two in the cabin and third passenger sails free. My question is this - do we have to purchase the UBP for the third person in our cabin or could we put OBC on our account to cover her drinks?

    Thanks for your help

  7. The shore excursion desk's number is 866-625-1167. They should be able to help you. Most of NCL's phone numbers are only a Google search away fyi.

I called the number you provided - thank you very much. They referred me to Payment Services Department.

I found out that that they credited my sister's credit card (card used to pay for cruise) instead of mine (card used to pay for all other charges).

A simple mistake, but one that could have been avoided if NCL had taken the time to check the card number used for the purchase before they issued the credit.

We are now in the process of getting the credit reversed from one card and issued to the other!

  8. We have 350.00 OBC on our account - some of it was a promo - some given as compensation for a mistake on our original booking.

Can I get any of this in cash from my card to use in the casino or must it all be spent elsewhere. We already have free speciality dining, free UBP and have booked and paid for our excursions and spa passes.

If we can`t convert any of the OBC into cash for the casino, we might have a hard time spending the OBC. Not really interested in art, souvenirs or photos.

  9. Gem docks at 7:00 AM and leaves at 1:00 PM. The reality is 4 hours in port. Does anyone have any recommendations on activities for such a short period of time? We are not interested in either beach or water activities.

    Thanks
