I think it has been long established that temperature checks are not a viable method of indicating covid. Cruise ships will always be an issue for transmittable "deceases" as will schools, hospitals etc especially in winter. If Spain are making it more difficult for cruise ships to dock then the cruise lines need to find alternative ports. It isn't too long ago that Spain were complaining that the restrictions were too severe and they were losing out to other warmer climes for tourist numbers, cake and eat it springs to mind.

I agree, both my daughters have had covid twice with no raised temperature, and hubby and me also recently, no elevated temp so I think this symptom is not that present in everyone x

It has been and is live on the website now. Might need a Ctrl+F5 to clear cached page.

Brilliant! Thank you Molechip.  Clarification just needed on the boosters for 12-17 yrs old, which I believe you are working on and hopefully that should make it all clearer for everyone xxx

I have just come off the phone to our TA which is one of the biggest serving P&O. They state categorically that the 24 hour time is  from the minute you have it done to your embarkation time. If your time to embark is 2pm the test must be done after 2pm the previous day!. We have booked our tests at 4.30 so hope our coach down is not delayed or we may be refused travel.

I have just heard from someone who has called p&o, that it is 24 hrs before, regardless to embarkation time.  I do hope they clarify this and everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet x

I assume they offer assistance on a situation by situation basis.  It would assumedly degrade the contact's usefulness if it was given to every passenger sailing.

Part of the reason I have been given individual names and contacts is because I was considered reasonable and responsible and would use this route only if I could see a situation failing.  I certainly would not take advantage of this availability in a normal situation.

I totally agree, and please don't think I am discrediting you in anyway.  I can just imagine how difficult it must be when you find yourself being removed and finding it difficult to get any answers or who to contact.

My Daughter only tested positive at Southampton whilst we were still at the hotel on the day we were meant to cruise, and even that was stressful! I was unsure of who to contact to notify to let them know we wouldn't be boarding, and you wouldn't believe how difficult even that was, no one wanted responsibilty.  I eventually got some joy through Twitter of all places, but not everyone has access to these social media sites, or even access to a smart phone.

Again I am very grateful for all the questions you managed to get clarified for us all xxx

They did do some very nice things for me and also my family. I'm not subject to non disclosure so they include extremely large upgrades on my cabins, upgraded flights, free cancellation of a cruise I no longer wished to take, speciality dinners on my cruise just passed, priority seating in the Limelight Club, welcome on board gifts for my family on their Iona cruise including the breakfast in bed/bathrobes, obc for forthcoming cruises by way of apology for any stress. I also have a letter with two personal contacts at the CEO's office who will look after me and my extended family in the event we have problems with covid or offloading.

Most importantly from my point of view I now have a new personal friend at P&O and that is probably the nicest thing of all.

That is wonderful that they did that for you, and rightly so for all the hard work you have put in.  I do think that every customer however should be given a contact if the worse happens though. After  chatting to a family that were removed in Tenerife, they were left very high and dry with no idea of who to contact, which must feel quite daunting.  I think that is the least P&O can offer x

  6. Hope you have a safe journey home Megabear.

I managed to have a small chat with someone that had been offloaded in Tenerife from Ventura.  The general consensus is the lack of communication and being "dumped", their words.  This must be quite a worry and my main concern about being abroad and not having any clarity on what happens next.  I haven't heard anything else from the family so unsure how it has panned out for them.

I think going forward, P&O need to try harder in having a plan and some reassurance for any passengers taken off, surely this is not much to ask for ?

  7. As we were supposed to travel Friday, before the youngest tested positive! I have been following several threads and at least two people, that I know of tested positive at the Port, however subsequent lft's showed negative along with negative PCR's.  I don't think P&O were giving 2nd chance tests.

Also just got wind of a family removed today after testing positive.  I think the next few days could flag up a few more.

i hope you all get better and have a good xmas - so if anyone want to not go on a cruise you just tell them you are positive?  Surprised its that easy.......

I guess there is a great deal of nervousness around COVID, so I imagine they can't take any chances.

I suppose there will be people that could work the system! But that is a chance you take I guess, if they did ask for proof.

  9. Thank you.  She is fine, bit of a headache but mostly cartwheeling around the room! P&O didn't ask for any proof (good job, if they could see her lol ) We have kept the lft, and pcr's have been sent off incase they ask.  They have issued us with FCC for us and the two linked bookings that were travelling with us.

I am hearing a few people testing positive at the port, even though they have had lft's on the same day and been negative.  They have returned home and lft's have been negative again, and one so far has had a negative pcr also.  Not sure what was going on, the passengers were refused the chance to do another also at the port, so they are not particularly happy with the outcome!

Happy days!  Just had our pre departure negative PCR tests back from Boots, all paperwork now ready and we are set fair for Barbados tomorrow.  Definitely think the ship is going to be safer than being here over Christmas.  If the worst happens and the islands shut us out Britannia will make a very comfortable home in the sun!  Only worry now is avoiding everyone at Gatwick overnight.

Enjoy and stay safe! We are going Friday and still feeling uneasy, however I do appreciate you putting my mind at ease by asking the questions we wanted answering earlier on. x

Must it be a cruise taken in 2022, or once a 2022 cruise is booked maybe they will allow you to move it again to something that suits your timing in 2023. They are after all allowing people to move as many times as they like?

Have been told it can be anything that is on sale.

  12. We are due to go Friday.  I emailed Claire at Head Office this morning, (she was my contact after emailing HO with my concerns on the recommendation of Megabear ) expressing my concerns and asking if I could transfer booking.  It was a very clear no! I had read on another social media site of many people on the same cruise had been chatting about moving this exact cruise. I rang my TA and was told, that Yes P&O were allowing the rebooking of this cruise, but it had to be a rebook and not a FCC.  We have decided to stick with original as we cannot get any availability for when we need so over a bit of a barrel really!  I do think it is a bit sneaky of P&O not to announce this when there are clearly a lot of people feeling very jittery at the moment, and you would think those at the top would be in the know.

  13. Does anyone know what p&o class as a close contact? We are due to travel 17th, and I am getting quite concerned about going tbh.  Really concerned about being offloaded by coming into contact with a positive case, or will we just have to quarantine on ship?  I wish P&O would put some guidelines in place so we know where we stand.

I'm going to see if P&O make any announcement on Monday, then decide about my Xmas cruise.

I tend to think that rebooking is the sensible thing to do. But we've been looking forward to having a different Xmas for ages - but don't want to be shut in a cabin for the duration due to a COVID outbreak.

We feel the same, one minute I am so excited and the next I am filled with dread.  I sort of wish they would cancel it and take the decision from me x

Hmm - due to pay the balance shortly for our Arcadia cruise in March. Will be interesting to see if any statement affects that.

But, historically,  P&O make announcements on a Tuesday,  so I'm taking this rumour with a shovel full of salt.

Perhaps the OP could tell us where these rumours are circulating - I'm assuming they are not being overheard in a pub in Shropshire !

Just on several threads on another social media site.  Some people are claiming their TA's have notified them of said announcement.  Like I say they are rumours and may not hold any weight, hopefully as we are due to go on the 17th xx

After MSC with the Virtuosa fiasco?!!!

My thoughts exactly.  I am wondering, as the other two cruises went swimmingly they had no cause to complain! The post is back, however comments have been stopped.  Will report if any more news comes to light. x

  17. Just noticed a post else where of a Lady being quarantined as people she was sharing a table with tested positive.  She mentions the Captain wanted to remove her but Dr went against this.  She doesn't seem to be very impressed with P&O's protocols, after being on MSC and Princess earlier in year.  Just gone back on to read thread and it has disappeared 🤔

  18. I am due to go 17th Dec! Spain have already clamped down on non vaccinated passengers, so my daughter can no longer go ashore.  I am sure there will be many more changes in the coming days/weeks.  We are a bit close to the 3 weeks mark on decision making so a little concerned about this.  I would not be happy with a staycation during the winter months for the cost #i have paid, so if this happens I would like to be given some options.  However at this moment in time we are at the mercy of P&O.  Got my Morrison's slot booked for 23rd just in case 😉
