  1. My husband and I are coffee drinkers and are always concerned about the morning coffee we drink. Most of the time, it is very different to which we are used to; but to help us out in this manner, we bring along some of those flavored dairy creamers. They are the ones that do not require refrigeration and are little cups. They come in a variety of flavors sold at stores such as Walmart. If the coffee is kinda nasty, these little beauties will make all the difference in the world. We gotta have our caffeine and this is what we do

  2. That is not true, any of the Elations cabins can get or have hairdryers

I have been on the Elation and when there is not a dryer in the drawer, I call room stewart and he happily brings me on.

The dryers are usually in the desk with the drawers.

  3. I have been on the Dream once and am planning to make the second jump on that beauty!!

We had robes, on this ship and all the rest of the ships in the fleet. If it was overlooked in your cabin, just a phone call away.

Lines, yeah the first day when everyone is getting on the ship and in total awe, they wander around and conjugate and form lines everywhere. But that is short lived. The ship is so big that you learn to maneuver your way around the ship and avoid the lines.

As far as kids being unruly, not their fault, its their parents for turning them loose. YUCCKKY kids in the pools with diapers, makes me throw up in my mouth.

I love the Dream and know that like anything in life, you have to take the good with the bad and the crew on the Dream STRIVES to minimize the bad and make your vacation enjoyable.

  4. I don't know, the really long line that I stood in was for the Stir Fry on the lido deck and it wasn't even that good

I have been on 17 cruises outta NOLA and have heard and seen mixed reviews on the FFTF passes. Sometimes there is nobody there when you board and other times, lines lines.

I will be on the Dream again in September and that should be after when most schools have restarted for the new year. The Dream is a big ship and you can learn how to get around and get what you want without long lines.

I believe that on the lido deck there is like 6 omlet lines and I never stood in one longer than 10 minutes and I always get an omlet for myself and my hubby. I definitely would do the at sea brunches, they are super yummy.

There is not assigned seating for the brunches, it is family style. So they basically will serve you in the order that you arrive.

Don't forget about the Indian Fare or the Pasta

And the BBQ on Deck 5

  5. It is hard for me to fathom, someone coming to New Orleans from Minnesota and getting on a cruise ship and complaining about 70 degree weather in January.

    OMG

Obviously you do not do your homework about time of year, weather, or where you are going.

Anytime of the year on a cruise ship is wonderful !!

And I betcha you would rather be here now, OH MY 77 today than in that cold ars Minnesota!!

    LOL

  6. I feel more comfortable with using Carnival sponsered tours that are more than an hour away from the ship. I have been cruising for many years.

Last October, we went to Chichen Itza with Carnival. One couple missed the bus coming back, we waited and eventually left them there!!

Geez that was with Carnival. The couple eventually got caught up to the bus, one of the tours guides from the bus stayed at Chchen Itza to find them...........but they had to pay a TAXI 200.00 to catch up to the bus. The tour operators radioed ahead and told the Elation that we were running late. It was pouring buckets...........we had to dash through all the CLOSED shopping area there at Progresso to get on the ship. The carnival employees were waiting with TOWELs to give us to dry off as we got on the ship.

I always wondered and thought about going with AP or some other vendor (farther than hr away) but with this happening, I know for sure that you are best to stay with Carnival excursions. And yeah it is more, maybe 10.00 per person more, but I think the peace of mind is definately worth it

  7. When I go on a cruise, I want to see sights that I cant see at home. Progresso is definately one of those ports. Yes it is very different from Cozumel, or the other ports but it is rich in culture and history.

Chichen Itza is a wonderful day trip. One of the wonders of the world?? Ding ding its a no brainer.

But as other posters have said, it is your state of mind and your attitude of what you want out of your cruise.

Yeah I understand about it not being glitzy and sparkly, but look past these expectations and you will not be disappointed

  8. Oh you have a great itinerary.

If it was me, I would do one of the mayan ruins excursions in Belize. Both options Alta Hun and Tunasandwich (pronunciation) are both breath taking and the ride to get there is awesome.

I would however do the excursions through Carnival. Recently, we just returned from our Oct 2014 cruise to Progresso. A couple missed the bus ride back to the port from Chichen Itza. The cruise ship was notified and we waited until the taxicab from Chichen Itza caught up to us. The tour operator told us that the people who missed the bus had to pay the taxi 200.00. I guess cause the ride is 5 hrs roundtrip. Anyways, Carnival waited for the bus which is great.

  9. I always bring Cliff Bars, beef jerky and peanuts along with extra bottled water. I never rely on anybody else in a foreign country. I know that sounds terrible but it is true. Along with your snacks, take some toilet paper. I have found that the bathroom attendants are kinda stingy with the toilet paper. Yes some of the ruins, have bathroom attendants who dole out the toilet paper to you as you enter. And it is never enough.

    Good luck

  10. Hmm I was on the Dream on April. You could get burritos ANYWAY you wanted them and they were delicious. They were in the section where the buffet lines were, and during lunch. One section of the buffet line did burritos, part of it did the Mongolian Wok. Dont forget about the Lanai Deck (5) which does sliders and BBQ. Also they have a Indian place, Lido deck going towards the very back that ROCKS!!

    You will love the Dream
