Tip: If you want something amazing and unique for chow, check out Little Greece on Eastern Avenue. There's a place called Ikaros, run by a Greek family with authentic Greek food that is to die for.

Um, Ikaros is in a very "iffy" area, much more so than Locust Point.

We just booked out first Princess Cruise (Sun Princess) after having previously sailed only Carnival and NCL. I was excited to get on Cruise Critic and join in on the fun/,iscussion on a new board, only to find it’s mainly negativity, rudeness and complaining.

Thank you for this. I have not sailed Princess and came here recently to form my opinion about the demographic, rules and comments. To my surprise there was still, in 2019, a brouhaha regarding "formal night" attire, behavior, etc. IIRC, there was even a reply suggesting that if you haven't done at least 2 Princess cruises you shouldn't even be here. I left feeling as you do. What a shame. 😮

  4. Although I don't agree with the word "lousy", I'm with Charles4515 and I'm 20 MINUTES from the Baltimore port. I love my city, the port is easy, but the ships leave much to be desired IMO. Our next cruise may be Canada/New England and will be from Manhattan, possibly Bayonne. Amtrak is an easy ride to either port. 😎

At the risk of starting a controversy, we can no longer recommend the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore.  We live about an hour from Baltimore and, for many years, would routinely drive down to the Inner Harbor for a pleasant day (or weekend).  But in recent years there has been a lot of "problems" in Baltimore not the least of which has been very low morale among the Police.  While the Inner Harbor (and nearby Little Italy) as well as Fells Point  used to be safe areas, we know longer feel comfortable in that neighborhood...especially at night.   The crime rate is awful, the Police now operate under a Federal Consent Decree, etc. etc.  Can you still stay at the Inner Harbor and have a good time?  Sure, with a little bit of luck.  On the other hand, gang violence is no longer out of the question in that once very safe area.  There are some good people in Baltimore and they are trying hard to improve their local situation and again make the city attractive for tourists.  For now, the closest we will get to the Inner Harbor is when we drive around the city (on its beltway) to get to either BWI or other points south.

This is too bad, Hank. I live and play in Baltimore, worked at the Inner Harbor for many years.

I'd probably do the Marriott. You're closer to Harbor East, which is a better location these days, IMHO, than the old Inner Harbor. I wouldn't have said that a few years back, but it just feels that way these days.

Marriott Waterfront no question! Starbucks is around the corner, next to the Landmark Theater.

     I agree with megr's post.

For homemade lovely authentic Italian, try Cafe Gia in Little Italy or Cinghiale in Harbor East. Have fun.

Kimpton Ink 48 is walking distance to the pier in Manhattan.  It's a lovely hotel and there are some places to eat within walking distance or you can easily get a cab or Uber/Lyft.

I'm with Meg, Ink 48, a Kimpton hotel.  Super close, lovely hotel, nice rooftop...done.

  8. Wow. No audience member was belting out a song! You could see lips moving and people were softly singing to themselves, certainly not a deal breaker! The guy next to me had a beautiful voice & quietly sang a few lines to a few songs and I was not bothered in the least. The strong voices of those on stage had you captivated. IIRC, the actors encouraged singing to one song, probably My Girl. We have walked out of several Broadway shows, Ain't Too Proud was NOT one of them. I would see it again!

I will NOT spend $300-500 on a pair of tickets to a Broadway show to hear Becky sing her favorite songs.
I'm an usher in San Francisco. Doing that in my theater will first get you reprimanded. And then removed. Surprised that the Shubert ushers at the Imperial didn't step in.

Ker 70, I agree with Meg and I'm a local. The Inner Harbor isn't what it used to be, but if you want to visit the National Aquarium or the Maryland Science Center, they're worth the visit. The Inner Harbor pavillions, imo, offer nothing.

Harbor East is very nice, upscale and you can easily walk to funky Fells Point. Baltimore has its issues as does any city, but it's certainly not the Wild Wild West.

I have no suggestions regarding luggage storage, but I would think any hotel doorperson would be happy to accommodate with a nice tip. Good luck. :classic_wink:

I LOVE Chorus Line too!!!!!!! To be honest, I think I saw it on Broadway but can't remember for sure...…...I remember seeing a musical at The Shubert Theater and having dinner at Sardi's..it was many, many, MANY years ago.

Great minds think alike, Lois. :classic_wink:
