1. we always go to the SeaDay Brunch.........luv the filet and eggs with a side of mac n cheese......and a peach bellini to wash it down.....

My daughters only went with us the first day. they wanted pool time and thought it took too long to get served. hubby and I went ourselves and met a lot of very nice people.

  2. Loved your review............made me re-live our Splendor cruise Oct 2014 we did the 7 day NE/Canada cruise. Sea Caves were amazing.....Halifax was wonderful, went to Peggy's Cove and to the Titanic Cemetery.......Boston was wonderful ( played tourist for the day as we are from MA) went to the Frost Ice Bar at Fanuell Hall........Portland was nice, took the trolley around and went to Portland Light lighthouse. Loved how you ordered your BLT's from room service. Every night when we went back to the cabin I ordered a PB & J sandwich and a pot of tea. After all that delicious food every day it was nice to have that little bit of home before bed. We too love the "secret deck" area. Our first time on the Splendor in 2012 we booked a 4j cabin on deck 9 at the front of the ship. even though it is technically an inside cabin, you have the picture window looking out to the secret deck. We have been on the Splendor 3x and love her. Booked on the new ship next year, the Vista. Got the last 4j cabin on deck 7. Again at the front of the ship with the "secret deck"...........thanks for taking the time to do this review. Your pictures were great. :D

  3. I booked a super bowl cruise in late October and was able to get a better deal right after I booked it but I lost my onboard credit doing so. It was my first time cruising and booking a cruise so I felt good about it. I'm going to book my next cruise for next years super bowl next month, and hope I can get some type of savings within a years time. I'm just excited about cruising for a second time...and leaving out of Nola.

    I hope you are a Patriots fan ! ! ! ! it's their year ! trophy #5 !

  4. He's American from the Bronx.

We've sailed with him 3 times on the Splendor.

1st time I found him very annoying....WooHooing everything gets annoying pretty fast.........but he actually grew on me. By the 3rd cruise he was actually quite entertaining. He's very involved and all over the ship. You'll see him at a deck party and 10 minutes later in the showroom, then on the Lido....seems like he never sleeps...........He does a great Beyoncé !

  5. Last year the steak house was $35 each.. still the same?

We went on first nite for the free bottle.. 4 adults at one table.. they only gave us 1 bottle.. said its one per table.. we started to leave and they changed their mind.. how ridiculous.. $140 extra for 4, and they argue about a $5 wholesale bottle of wine..

we too had 4 at a table and were told 1 bottle per cabin......the free wine was not what I would order so we opted for a discounted bottle of Moscato and had it sent to the MDR to finish it off another night.

we've been on the Splendor 3 times and this was the only time we did the Steakhouse. was underwhelmed........not impressed, don't know if it was an "off" night or what......felt a lot of vibration being at the top of the ship. missed the interaction that you have in the MDR with the staff. won't do it again.

  6.
I believe those conditions may apply to booking the discounted cruise on their site or possibly using the certificates. The electronic gift cards work exactly like the ones I bought from Carnival in June. I already placed an order today for several of these cards via the Verizon Rewards Program and received the e-cards immediately from CCL immediately via email.
what time of day did you purchase them ? I've been watching them for almost a year now and they are always sold out.:eek::eek:
  7. Exactly what I was looking for! Do you know what the nearest bar is, by chance? :p

The best bar on the ship is the aft pool bar.........Leila is a great bartender and Jean is the best bar server.........at the Lido pool find Jervie and in the Atrium Lounge find Nelly and Yada..........tell them all the Richardsons say hello ! we had a ball with them in July..

  8. Regardless the free sandwiches are really good! [emoji39]

every night when we get back to the cabin I order a PB&J sandwich and a pot of tea.....after all the rich food we've eaten all day and night, it's comforting to have PB&J before bed.......everyone thinks I'm crazy ordering this on a cruise ship but when someone else makes it.........it tastes 10 times better !

  9. I am back on Splendor tomorrow, yes it is pink

    Nice ship though :D

Splendor has a fabulous bar staff.........we made some great friends in July......say hello to Jervie (serves the shots at dinner and serves drinks at Lido pool during the day) Jean ( he's out at the deck 9 aft pool during the day and the Black Pearl at night ) Nelly (she's in the Black Pearl for dinner and the atrium lounge after ) Yada (she's at the atrium lounge ) we had so much fun with them.....tell them the Richardson's say hello. Oh and don't forget Leila, she was our favorite bartender at the deck 9 aft pool bar, tell her Sam and the twins say hello..........

In the Black Pearl dining room Leyton and his team were by far the best team on the ship, tell them hello from us.

    Enjoy !

  10. We have sailed twice recently on the Splendor. Dec 3013 to the Bahamas and Sept 2014 to NE/Canada.

We are looking at a B2B this summer on the Splendor with a 4 day to Saint John NB Canada and then the 8 day Eastern Carribean.

Since hubby won't fly, we are limited to the NY departures.

Food was good, entertainment good, activities were way too many to do them all so you do the one you really what to do. OR you can do nothing ! It's your choice.

Bar service on the Lido, exceptional, we had a great Bar Waiter (Darius) who served us the first day at the Lido buffet (we were his first sale of the cruise) and he found us no matter where we were on the ship. Those of you going in the next few days please say hello to him from Donna and Gary

We chose the anytime dining (Black Pearl) and found that if you really like the waitstaff you have you can request them the next night. If thier tables are full they will give you a beeper and you can have a drink in the Atrium Lobby Bar while waiting. We love the anytime dining.

Hostesses in the Black Pearl were great (Aristina) adorable, say hello to her from us. Astini was our head waitress, she was fabulous.

The Sea Day brunch is wonderful.....you can sleep late and still have sit down service in the Gold Pearl. Afternoon Tea was nice too......lots of goodies to choose from. Don't miss the Rotisserie........great rotisserie chicken and ooey gooey mac n cheese on deck 10 above the Lido buffet, kinda hidden, never crowded.

As far as the decor, all cruise ships are tacky. If you eat and drink enough you won't notice LOL.

Your cruise is what you make of it. If you go into it reading all negative posts you will expect negative experiences and have a negative experience.

Go with the flow and have a great time.:cool::cool:

  11. we'll be on the Splendor for the second time this Saturday. Went to the Bahamas from NYC in December and decided to try the Canada itinerary.

the Rotisserie is fabulous, juicy rotisserie chicken, mac n cheese, and yummy yummy cornbread. I'm making myself hungry.

the Sea Day Brunch...........can you say fabulous ?........steak and eggs and it is a filet ! so good ! the honey nut cherios french toast was actully pretty good and don't talk about the bread basket..........yum yum yum !

just checked the weather for all the ports and it looks like we are going to have fabulous weather in all the ports. High 60's to high 70's and 0% chance of rain. BOO YAH ! ! ! !

  12. The Splendor was my first photo review, followed by the Fantasy this past February. I plan on doing another photo review of our Liberty cruise in August.

I have done many of the "standard" reviews that can be found in the review section of this and several other forums. However, for some reason I never reviewed either of our Pride cruises.

We did take pictures though, and these can be seen by clicking the links below.

I totally enjoyed your review w/pics..............great job ! we were on the Splendor in Dec 2013 and loved it. You are so right about the friendly crew. We did not run into a single crewmember who was not smiling, friendly, and helpfull to us when we got lost. We luved the Splendor so much we are cruising again in 20 days. NYC to Boston, Portland, Saint John NB, and Halifax NC. Hoping that some of the same waitstaff is still on the ship. Can't wait to see them again as we had a blast in the MDR both the Black Pearl for anytime dining and the Pink Pearl for the SeaDay Brunch...........and by the way, the scrambled eggs have gotten better. Not sure if they switched brands or just doctored them up, but the were very tasty........eggs and filet mignon for breakfast with a side of mac n cheese ! Best Brunch EVAH ! ! ! ! !

  13. Very nice. I'm on the 9/27 7-day that adds stops in Boston and Portland for my honeymoon. Though rather than some nice summer weather, I'm hoping for some nice autumnal weather.

we are on the Splendor 9/2 as well.....hubby and I and my cousin and her hubby have joined us. second cruise on the Splendor, last cruise was Dec 2013.....food was good, service was excellent, entertainment was doable, had good luck in the casino, looking forward to Canada stops for something different than the Carribean.....hope the weather holds up for us !

  14. any one who is traveling on the Splendor between now and Sept 27th please let me know if you come accross any of the following staff on the Splendor. we were on her last Dec and had some amazing staff taking care of us and are hoping that they are still on the ship for our Sept 27th sailing.

    Black Pearl Dining Room:

Corcordia: from Bali, head waitress, tiny stature but huge energy and totally adorable

Gusti: from Indonesia, head waiter, at first was very serious but a lot of fun when he let's loose

Yazmine: cocktail waitress in the lobby bar outside the Black Pearl

Pink Pearl Dining Room (Sea Day Brunch)

I Made: there are several with this name, he works the row of tables along the windows on the right when you enter the dining room.

Sharon: cocktail waitress from Jamaica, lovely girl

Hope you run into them........they will take good card of you.

    thanks............Donna

  15. we have never eaten in the specialty steakhouse before. we have reservations for the first night of our NE/Canada cruise on Sept 27th. My question is can you order more than one appetizer or entree like you can in the main dining room ? hubby loves the escargot but also loves shrimp cocktail and I know he would want one of each or maybe two ! LOL

  16. We had the anytime dining last December on the Splendor. found that we luved our wait staff the very first night so we asked for them every night. if the tables were full, the hostess gave us a beeper, like in the restaurants and we went out to the lobby bar to have a drink and listen to the band playing......never a long wait. Well worth the few minutes to have our favorite team.
