  1. I too love the creme brulee. Is it only back on the "new" menus? I am going on the splendor in a few weeks so I would love to have that.

We are going again Sept 27 on the Splendor to Canada .....by any chance is that the same sailing that you are on ??

  2. We had that cabin on our Dec 2013 cruise. We did not know it was handicapped until we got there. Our friends booked it for us so that we would be next door to them and we were all surprised that they were HC rooms. Carnival did not ask for any proof of a handcapp which I though was kind of strange. Our friends booked those cabins because of the front "private deck" they always book at the front of the ship on all of thier cruises. I was a bit embarassed when we met our cabin steward and explained to him that we did not know. He told us not to worry, no problem, enjoy our cabin.

The bathroom is HUGE, that was a big plus and I luved being able to go out on the deck, was like having our own balcony the width of the ship. A bit breezy at night, be careful out there.

I was a bit confused as to why the HC cabins are all the way at the front of the ship. I would think they would be closer to the elevators. It's a lonnnnngggggg walk from the elevators to cabin 9202.

    Enjoy !

  3. Yippee, Creme Brulee is back.....I really missed that on the last cruise we took (Splendor Dec 13) but was really happy that they had the Bitter and Blanc, my waiter was able to get this for me on a night when it was not on the menu....Loved my Gusti !

I wish they would bring back the Beef Wellington. I really love that !

  4. We were on the Splendor in Dec and had a fabulous team waiting on us. Gusti and his team were amazing. We asked for them every night and if there was a wait the lovely MonaLisa gave us a beeper (like in the resturants here at home ) that flashed when our table was ready. We would then go out to the Atrium lounge, have a cocktail, and listen to the band that was playing. Never a very long wait....

Our second choice if we did not want to wait was the lovely Cocordia, this girl was a firecracker. Just loved her to pieces. Going on the Splendor again in Sept. Can't wait to see our favorite waiters. Oh yes and can't forget Yasmine, our cocktail waitress. She was very quiet but very sweet.

  5. I agree ;) So other than the burgers ,any thing else ? Did you like the eggs :o

We recently sailed on the Splendor back in Dec. Our travelling companions had said that the eggs on the buffet were nasty, and that he had heard that they either changed the brand or doctored up the recipe. I have to say they were delicious. I had them every day at the buffet and in the dining room for the Sea Day Brunch.........by the way we luved the Sea Day Brunch.....menu selection was great....filet mignon and eggs for breakfast ! YUMMO ! Our waiter Imade was fabulous and our cocktail girl, Sharon was great.......Mimosas and Belinni's at every meal ! what a way to start the day ! Anyway, going on the Splendor again in Sept for the NYC to Canada cruise. Hope to see our dining room friends again on this cruise.

  6. We were on the Splendor in Dec 2013 and sailing on her again to Canada in Sept 2014....we did not have the Cat in the Hat breakfast or activities back in Dec, we had the Sea Day Brunch (which was fabulous) are these Cat in the Hat activites new ? are they on every sailing ? will they be on our sailing Sept 27th ? I picked the 27th hoping that there would not be a lot of little kids as they would be in school but I would enjoy the Cat in the Hat, loved those stories as a child.

  7. Despite it being a piece of plastic, the memory of how you got it is the thing and will bring a smile to your face each time you look at it.

Mine just sits on a shelf. I have a memory of it, but the memory is I found it at a yard sale:(

you are so right......even though it is a cheap little trinket......people comment on how cool that you won it when they pass you in the corridors. my daughter was so proud that we won the scatagories game on the Celebration.

  8. we were on the Splendor this past December.........Deck 9.........loved it ! Hubby always gets confused as to what is on what deck so it was nice to have the food on the same deck.....no noise, very happy.....going again in Sept and wanted same cabin but was already sold, we upgrade to a spa cabin on deck 10....should be even quieter up there.

OH, and deck 9 has a secret balcony up the front.....def check it out.

  9. we will be on the 27th Sept cruising of the Splendor to NE/Canada. Being from the Boston area, we are looking forward to cruising into Boston and seeing our city from a different point of view. From the ocean looking in rather than from on land looking out to the ocean. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Canada ports. Still undecided on what we will do. This is our second sailing on the Splendor, went to Bahamas in Dec 2013. Can't wait to see our wait staff in the Black Pearl dining room. If you can get either Gusti or Cocordia, you will have a great time with them.

  10. I hve sailed Splendor 3 times and we sailed by 4:30 and made 6:00 dinner with no problem

you can watch the ships leave NYC on a live webcam on Port New York Webcam. We watch all the time. Also watch Bermuda, Miami, and Port Canaveral. The Port Canaveral departures seem to be late all the time. I am wondering if that is because the Disney excursions get back late and they have to wait for them.

  11. Are you doing the 9/1 sailing to Halifax and St John? Are you in our roll call? We think we're sailing on an empty ship :D

We are on the 9/27 7-day cruise NYC to Canada.

This will be our second time on the Splendor. Just sailed to the Bahamas this past December. Ship decor is like all the others......what ship in any line is not gaudy ? ? ? It's the experience, the food, the entertainment, and the staff that make the cruise.

  12. We booked the Splendor/Canada/NYC for Sept 27th for 2 pple cruise, inside cabin, taxes, prepaid grats and spa upgrade for $1758.00 total.

I thought that was a pretty good deal !

Our cabin in on deck 10 right below the spa.

Love the front of the ship, rocks you to sleep like a baby !

  13. I always bring zip lock bags with us. Hubby luvs his fruit so we fill up the bags and bring them back to the cabin so that he has a snack whenever he wants it. I load up on those mini cheese danish at breakfast and have them late at night with my tea. luv sitting out on deck with a nice hot cup of tea and my mini danish.:cool::cool:

I also bring a roll of quarters and a few detergent pods just in case I decide to do a load or two of laundry. I do it on a port day as soon as the laundry opens and when the ship is quiet and it helps to cut down on the luggage. The pods are easier than bringing a bottle of detergent.

  14. Glad to hear you enjoyed your first cruise on Carnival. We sailed on the Splendor in Dec 2013 to the Bahamas. Loved the crew, loved the food, loved it all. We are going on the Splendor again in Sept from NYC to Canada. We booked a spa cabin to try it out. Sounds like it is worth the $230 extra for the room. :D Look forward to the steam rooms, the saunas, and the thermos whateveritscalled pool. LOL The mud room sounds wonderful, gotta check that one out for when we are in port in Boston. Since we live 35 miles south of Boston, we plan on a spa day while in port.

  15. We recently went to the No Name for Easter Sunday and was very dissapointed. Living in the Boston area it always had a great reputation but lateley I have heard it's not so good anymore. Being that it is on the "Fish Pier" I expected a large variety of fresh seafood. Very limited menu. I ordered the scallop plate and they served "bay scallops" the little ones. I wanted sea scallops being that we were on the sea. If you rent a car take the drive down towards Foxboro to see Gillette Stadium and Patriot Place. Lots of great places to eat along Rte 1. My favorite is "The Red Wing Diner" in Walpole. From pizza to seafood, you will not be dissapointed.

  16. We sailed on the Splendor in Dec 2013. Our cabin was 9202 and our travelling companions were in 9201. we luved these cabins. Very roomy, huge bathroom, twin beds hooked together to make a king, being at the front of the ship it rocks you to sleep at night, never slept so good.

Luved luved luved the "private" deck outside our cabins. not a lot of people know about it so it's like having your own balcony the width of the ship. does get a bit windy so be carefull at night. we sat out there leaving NYC as we passed under the Verazanno bridge, felt like we could touch the bridge......very cool !

The only thing I did not like is that even though it is a handicap room, it is a very long walk from the elevators.
