We are considering a cruise in just over two weeks. For a variety of reasons, we would be flying in the morning of (I hate to do it but we have no other options) We would fly into FLL but the cruise is out of Miami. What is the best way to get from the FL airport to the port of Miami? Thanks!

We would actually be flying down. I can still get reasonable airfare. I would also like a sea day but we have been to Nassau a few times already so wouldn't spend much time on the island. We would be on the ship for the most part so it would be almost like a sea day. We both love Key West and have never been to Coco Cay. Really just looking for a quick getaway, both love cruising and would like to try RC again. We have done several cruises with our kids but have always used Carnival. What type of crowd can we expect on Majesty? What condition is the ship in? How is the staff?
aurelius180 - you must have posted while I was typing. You answered some of my specific questions :)

My husband and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary. We are considering booking the 4 night Majesty cruise, sailing in just over two weeks. Yikes! This cruise appeals to us because of its length and ports. How do people feel about the Majesty and this itinerary? We just want to get away, alone, for a few days. Good idea? (As an aside, we sailed on the Monarch for our honeymoon) Thoughts?

Where in Key West does Freedom dock? How close is this to the City View Trolley stop?

Any suggestions to a taxi company that has vans to fit a party of 5 and an idea of the price for the trip from Sleep Inn Dania Beach to Port Everglades. Thanks!

We are on the 6 night Freedom cruise in two weeks. Which night/nights will be the elegant nights?

Thank you all for the help :)

So just to make sure, when in airplane mode there isn't anything else they can do with the phones? They can't send any texts or make any calls and texts and calls won't come through? If so, that will work out well for us :)

We are sailing on the Freedom in two weeks. (Yay!) Is there a way for my teens to use their i-phones for music and to take pictures without racking up big charges? I though I read that if they put their phones in airplane mode that will do the trick. Is this correct? Thanks for any help :)

Do all cabins on the Freedom have fridges in them? Can we ask to have it emptied and use it for waters/sodas?

How close to your cruise are you still able to buy insurance? Our biggest concerns are weather and getting sick before we leave. Any suggestions on where to look for a plan that would cover these issues? Thanks.

We are flying into FLL and staying one night before our cruise at the Sleep Inn in Dania. The hotel offers a shuttle from the airport to the hotel. We need to arrange transportation to Port Everglades for the next morning. We are a family of 5 with a good amount of luggage. Any suggestions?
-
The answer to your actual question is..yes...The Dollar/Thrifty shuttle will take you to the PE location on Miami Road...which is just outside the terminal gate.
Thank you :)

The difference in price to rent the minivan after our cruise from the PE location on Miami Road is $5 less than renting at the airport. I guess my actual question is: will the Dollar shuttle pick us up from the port after we disembark and bring us to the PE location or does the shuttle only go to the airport? I would think that it would be a little bit quicker to get to the Miami Road location over going to the airport.

We are looking at renting a car after we disembark in Fort Lauderdale, to use until our 5:00 pm flight. I have found a good rate for a minivan with Dollar. Should we pick up from the airport or from the Port Everglades location? We will need to be shuttled to get the van. Does the Dollar shuttle go to both locations?

We are on the Carnival Freedom in February and are considering booking this excursion. Has anyone recently done it? Any feedback to share? I looked at reviews on the Carnival website and most were good, with a few not so good. Also, how much actual swimming is involved? My husband isn't a big swimmer but I think he would like to see the kids. Would he be able to book some sort of an observer ticket? Thanks!
-
Should have said - we are planning to book through the cruiseline.

I am interested in the dolphin and sting ray excursion on Grand Cayman. My kids and I would love it but my husband, not so much. He isn't a water lover. Is it possible to buy an "observer" type ticket so he could come and watch us, but not actually get into the water? Is there a phone number for questions about excursions?

We are having the same problem :( We are a family of 5, looking for a room for one night, February 15th, and prices are so high! Not sure what we are going to do.

Who has waitlisted for a cabana and how many of you were able to get one from being on the waitlist? They are sold out for our cruise. Do I call Carnival and ask to be waitlisted?

Need a hotel suggestion for a family of 5 (2A, 3C - 16, 13 and 10) for one night before a cruise. We are flying into FLL, not arriving until 10 pm, but cruising out of Miami. We are leaning toward using SAS to get from the hotel to POM. Any hotel suggestions that will comfortably sleep 5 and SAS will pick up at? Thank you :)

We would fly the morning of, a 3 hour non-stop flight from Providence to FLL. We would then need to get to the port of Miami. Even with having to fly, I think it would be worth it. We really need a break and some time alone :) Your responses are very encouraging.
