  1. I booked the Jewel a few months ago for Feb. 2017. Not sure what sale was on then.

The inside was 1820 CAN$ then and hasn't come lower. Currently it would be $1960 CAN.

I could upgrade to a OV for about $100 more but booked an oversized cabin (3635) and not sure I want to give up space for a window.....

  2. I definitely understand that I could cancel and rebook but I won't because the cruise price is higher. I am wondering if I could get an adjustment on the exchange. I think, in retrospect, I should have asked to be priced and pay in US dollars. The price on the website automatically went to pricing in Canadian dollars.

  3. First times on RC.

I booked our Jewel cruise a few months ago. It was priced in Canadian $, if the rate gets better will they adjust the fare (I paid just the deposit)? It is 10 months out. The cruise price has risen so I don't want to cancel and rebook now. I'm trying to get my head around this, can anyone help?

  4. We have done this itinery 3 times on the Valor and Liberty (loved Guys burgers btw). We love port days over sea days so worked for us. Loved the beaches....

We wanted to book this itinery again for next February and decided to book the RC Jewel of the Seas for not much more money than the Fascination. We have been loyal to Carnival but didn't want to settle for a yet older ship to save a very few bucks.

I would recommend looking around at RC or Celebrity cruise going out of San Juan. You pay a lot for airfare to get to San Juan, consider paying a little bit more to up the experience.

    Just my 2 cents!

  5. I booked our February Jewel cruise a few months ago when it was 30% off.

The free grats sale didn't reduce the price.

I just checked the current sale, Bogo plus free taxes and fees, and the bottom line price is the same exactly as the last sale at least $50 more than we paid. They just increased the base fare of the cruise by over $100 per person!!

I'm new to RC and not impressed.

  6. The celebrity Summit usually sails from San Juan on a similar itinery but for February and March, 2017 has very few sailings (due to being chartered I believe).

We have sailed out of San Juan on Carnival's Valor and Liberty the last few years but for the 2017 season Carnival has switched to a smaller older ship. This has made us look for other options (and so are excited to have booked the Jewel for the Feb.26th sailing).

I think the lack of other options from San Juan could be a factor.

  7. Nice review.

We are on this ship (different itinery) next February. We have stayed at La Concha before for the night pre-cruise. It is amazing but pricey. You mentioned that you were thinking of spending time there before your flight out (I think that is what you meant). Will they let you come and use the pools and beach chairs for a day that you aren't staying? Did you ask ahead? Pay for a day pass? Thanks!!

  8. We are booked on this itinery in October.

We look forward to HMC. How did you find the tender situation? We don't want to spend the huge amount of money for a cabana, did you see clamshells or other shady area at the beach?

Were there any other ships in Grand Turk? How busy was it as the ship arrives late in the morning?

    Thanks!!

  9. We just returned from our Liberty cruise. Love, love, love this itinerary!

This change in ship caused me to look beyond Carnival for our next cruise.

I just booked the Jewel of the Seas for this time next year, almost an identical schedule. Cost a bit more but I was not going to settle for the Facination. The Celebrity Summit is not sailing this itinerary next February (it would have been our first choice).

  10. Looks great. We too were hoping to get a little more floor space while in the economy cabins.

The extra walking is fine, we usually try to use stairs rather than elevators and appreciate the exercise.

Was there a shower curtain in the shower or a door as some I have seen in some photos?

Was there any noise from the dining room which I think is a floor above?

I appreciate you taking the time. If you were on board I would buy you a drink!

3639 is available for our Feb.2017 cruise, I am going to book it!

    Thanks again!

  11. Does anyone have experience with the cabins on deck 2 where you disembark in ports? It seems they would be convenient, hopefully quiet and the most economical. It looks like there are a handful of new cabins being added on this deck after dry dock. Would booking a brand new cabin be a good choice?

Thanks for any input as we are new to RC!!

  12. We are going to be booking the Jewel sailing out of San Juan.

This is our first time on a RC ship, we have sailed for the last few years out of San Juan on Carnival (we have always booked their 4j, sold as an inside with an obstructed view).

We are wanting to book an inside cabin and wondered if anyone had any recommendations.

Our Canadian dollar has not recovered yet, so we want to save a bit of money!

  13. We have sailed this itinerary 3 times now from San Juan. We sailed the last Liberty sailing a week ago.

I am disappointed at the change in ship class. While it is port intensive, I enjoyed the guys burgers when returning from port, as well as the adult only aft pool. Our room of choice is always the 4j at the front of the ship which doesn't exist on this class of ship.

I looked ahead to next years sailing and the prices are higher than we we booked the past cruise a year out.

I will look into other cruise lines if we wish to sail from PR again!
