Here in Florida our beloved Governor has opened everything and there is no mask mandate... guess what - we're all thriving and life is normal *sweet-relief* Perhaps folks should remember this virus can be killed with soap and water, hand sanitizer, or lysol.

Our Governor hasn't got a clue. All of the people that are thriving in Florida this past year are following CDC guidelines, despite his failure to lead.

    Yes, especially bad with bifocals.

Saw Senator Ron Paul challenge Dr Faucci on news... agree with Dr Paul, once we are all vaccinated, masks are for show.    Along that line of thinking, if we have been vaccinated and test negative boarding a ship, wearing a mask around the ship may be unnecessary.  Time with tell, things keep changing for the better I believe.

See UK, Israel and USA have vaccinated the most folks but there are lock downs in France and Italy... so we have a ways to go.

Will we ever reach full vaccination? There are too many people that won't do it and that upsets the Herd theory. The many variants that have evolved from the initial virus will  make masks a safety necessity for a long time to come.

In my humble opinion – Discovery has much more in activities, entertainment, bar and lounges, etc. than the Emerald.

Emerald Princess cruise ship deck plan shows a total of 1539 cabins for 3082 passengers served by 1200 crew/staff. The ship has 15 passenger accessible decks, 12 restaurants and bars, 8 lounges, 4 swimming pools, 7 Jacuzzis, 14 elevators. Passenger-use launderettes (Laundromats) are located on decks 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14.

Discovery Princess cruise ship deck plan shows a total of 1834 cabins for 3668 passengers (max capacity is 4610) served by 1411 crew-staff. The boat has 15 passenger-accessible decks, 14 bars and lounges, 2 swimming pools, 8 outdoor Jacuzzis (whirlpool hot tubs), 16 elevators.

Thanks...do you know if it's deeper than the Lido deck splash pools on other classes of ships? We almost never use onboard pools but realize they're essential to other passengers.

When I stood in the Lido deck splash pool on the Royal, the water was knee deep. In the Sky aft pool it was waist deep to mid chest deep.I am 5ft. 4.

  6. We enjoyed our cruise on the Sky and appreciated the differences between her and the Royal/Regal ships. Liked the Retreat area on the Regal better than the Sky. Easy access to the pool from the Sanctuary if you want to swim and the pool has a stair entry.

I like the Sky decor and the new Princess Live area. The aft pool is shallow but larger than the aft pool on Regal.

Each ship has its own personality and I can't wait to get on either one of them. Going for vaccine number 2 an hour from now. Hopefully we can all plan a cruise "soon".🙂

  7. At this time, some of the ships with their crews, are anchored off the Bahamas. There is no news of new crew cases of the virus on the ships in weeks. The crews are healthy and safer out at sea than they would be on land. The virus, if still present on these ships, would make itself known for sure.

The ships will be free of the virus long before the ships go back into service.

If the cruise lines are shut down , then the airlines should be also.

How many ships have had trouble with the virus ? TWO ships out of 17 for Princess, and ONE ship out of 15 for Holland America.   Tens of thousands of passengers and crew are sailing on cruise ships right now and haven't had reported issues.

It's important to keep some perspective.   About 10 thousand crew and passengers on the three ships you refer to, can't or couldn't go home. Do you want to tell them to have some perspective.

  9. Thanks for the wonderful review. We enjoyed the Sky in December and look forward to sailing her again.

We didn't care for the way they served the salads in the little glasses at the IC either.

However , I dumped my salad out of the glass onto the dish and that worked better for me. I did note that the marvelous display of salads at the buffet compared to the displays they used to have at the IC. I just wish they would serve the salads the way they used to.

We never made it to the Salty Dog, but seeing the pictures of your lunch made us want to make it a must stop on the next cruise.😀

  10. The Wake View pool is also shallow at 3 feet and is basically just a pool to cool off in. The ladders in both the Retreat Pool and Wake View Pools have wide steps all the way to the bottom, making it easier to enter and exit for most people. I would not however, been able to use the pool if it was deeper and lacked the stairs. I guess they decided to make the two pools shallow and didn't have the depth to create a staircase. I never made it to the other pools. Were they shallow also?

  11. The IC is not in a small enclosed space like a cafe that can hold a couple dozen people. It is located on the bottom floor of a 3 story atrium without walls and doors enclosing it. A strong ventilation system keeps air circulating. There are other eateries on the three levels that can add to the aromas in the atrium as well.

As long as my cappuccino has a fragrant aroma as I raise my cup to drink, I'm happy.😊
