Thanks but we didn’t get any spending credit, not for one drink, nor any tours, nor spa or anything

I would call the Mariner Society number (800.547.9139) to discuss this. Have your cruise details with booking number. Additional info to help would be your end-of-cruise onboard spending statement and email confirmations of the original booking and pre-cruise purchases.

However, you should need nothing beyond your booking details as everything should be in their computer.

What concerns me is the amount of budgeted capital outlay for CCL. Just for the Newbuild Capital Expenditures $4.3b (2022), $2.6b (2023). See Page 21 of the 2021 Annual Report.

This adds a lot of capacity into an ongoing pandemic. Can they actually get a mortgage at less than junk bond rates?

These are probably existing build or refurb commitments that cannot be cancelled or delayed. I am confident they have tried to do both.

  3. cruisetimetables.com and cruisemapper.com show three ships on 23-Nov. There is the Koningsdam, Norwegian Bliss and Carnival Panorama.

There are only two ships in PV on 30-Nov, Koningsdam and Discovery Princess.

If true, not sure why we would not get one of the three docks.

Unless there another web site that shows something different, and is considered more accurate?

Will be my first time on Holland America.I see most references are for attire in the MDR. Do specialty restaurants follow different rules? I do not dress up much at home and I don’t want to buy  lot of clothes I am unlikely to wear for a while, if ever. But I don’t want to feel uncomfortably under dressed. It seems like some nice black pants and a couple of fancy shirts would be fine. Any thoughts? I am an “older” woman doing the a 7 day Eastern Caribbean.

This attire will be fine anywhere on the ship, including the MDR and specialty restaurants. Enjoy your cruise - you have earned it.

My dear wife and I love Vermont. We were up near Burlington late September, visiting family in Essex Junction. Drove up the West side of the state and back down the Eastern side. Beautiful countryside.

Related question. When using your included specialty dinner can you order “have it all “wine and/ or cocktails at no extra cost?  Thx.

Yes. The beverage packages may be used in the specialty restaurants.

Yes it has been offered in the past and yes you can take it home. We had the large one a few years ago and then brought it home with us in our carryon. It is very lovely, prelit, and came with red and gold decorations. It certainly added a festive touch to our stateroom and now serves as a wonderful memory of our Prinsendam holiday cruise.

Good to know. We are getting one for our NYE sailing.

Here are some options for you....places to sit, eat, drink, and relax adjacent to the pier.  Hazelwoods and Claim Jumper are across the street.  Carnitas is between Broadway Pier and B. St. Pier.   Portside Pier (Brigantine, Ketch, Portside Coffee, Miguel's, and Topside Terrace) are just a short walk north along the embarcadero.

Just understand that the $4/day is for the total length of your cruise, even if you don't send and mark your "unlimited" until after a week. So if you choose that option, no reason to wait!

Yes, I plan to send our items needing pressing the first night. Then just touch up as needed.

No, sorry. No passenger laundries on HAL ships anymore. Nor can you bring on an iron or steamer. BUT "press-only" is available per the recent laundry form in post #3 above:

Or unlimited pressing for the full cruise is $4/day in North America sailings.

We purchased the laundry package on board.  We were on the N. Amsterdam in March 2022 and the laundry was $49 per week. I don't know if the price increase is only on NS or all HAL ships.

It could also be a new price difference between purchasing in advance vs. onboard.

Has anyone recently purchased unlimited laundry for the New Statendam before sailing? If so, what price per day were you charged?

Or can someone with an upcoming New Statendam cruise try adding unlimited laundry to it, just to see the price in the shopping cart? You do not have to complete the transaction; it can then be removed from the cart. Thanks!

After reading that bags of laundry have gone up to $30 on NS, we decided to pay for unlimited laundry.  HAL's website says $49 for each of our 7 day cruises-B2B 11/26-12/10.  But when we put it in our cart it gives us an error & won't allow us to complete transaction.  Called their office- closed today until Monday.  Not sure what we are doing wrong, except we do not have a cabin assignment yet.

Do any of you have any clues as to why we can't pre purchase unlimited laundry?

Try it again now, or in a couple of hours. I have gotten this error before, and then was able to add the item to my cart at another time. The website is like an old car that starts sometimes and other times not. Or the old TV that needed a whack on the side to straighten out the picture.

Oh, both of these analogies severely date me. Reckon I’ll just mosey along. Nothing to see here …

We've been discussing this in the stock forum thread for months. It's an interested thread if this is your jam. We're a fun group :).

I do respectfully disagree with future bookings being safe. You absolutely could be correct, but it's still up in the air. Take a look at the Crystal forum. Lots of guests out to the tune of $10,000+ dollars. We don't have any evidence that if this happens it will be a gradual change anymore than we have evidence there will be a hostile take over (which is on the table). Chapter 7/11/et all. It's simply still too early to know.

What we do know is that the buyer will likely purchase for pennies on the dollar given the current financial state of CCL. And any buyer needs to be SUPER cash flush. CCL is still hemorrhaging money at an alarming rate.

Can you please provide a link to the stock forum thread? Thanks!

I'm basing this off the comment I posted above.  I did just look online and it still states $49 a day.  However, I can't book it. "There was an error adding the item to the cart."

I had not tried to add it to my cart. I went back just now and was able to add it. The error when you tried to add it was probably HAL’s website gremlins we regularly encounter. I get that message every now and then when adding items.

We just got off N. Statendam yesterday and the laundry was $30 per bag or $63 unlimited for 7 night cruise.  Although the weekly price has increased from $49, we found it was still a good value. The laundry department did an excellent job.  We sent out laundry 3 times and it was always returned within 24 hours.

Did you sign up on ship or purchase in advance?

I just verified I can still add unlimited laundry to a 7 night Dec 10th sailing on Koningsdam for $7/night.

if you got it on board, there may now be a price difference when prepaying. If not, perhaps HAL is trying the new rate to gauge the impact on demand and revenue.

I recently added unlimited laundry to some Nov-Dec. 2022 sailings and it was still $7/day.  North American home ports, of course.

    Did HAL announce an increase?

I see in the Laundry Prices topic that several people on the New Statendam out of Ft Lauderdale we’re charged $9/day. I just went into my Dec 10th booking and it is still $49 for 7 nights to add unlimited laundry. Perhaps the fee is now more if initiated on board vs. prepaid. Or they are testing the new rate on a ship or two to see the results in usage.

I am 3 mariner stars and have questions  about how much the laundry on the Niew Amsterdam

I have a 3 week cruise and would love to know

You can stuff a laundry bag for $20 each time. Or do unlimited laundry for $7/day ($9/day outside North America). At the $7 rare, the total cost for three weeks is $147. This fee covers everyone in your stateroom, it is not per person.
