  1. First time on NCL and hoping someone can help with a few questions.

We are booked on the Jade and after completing checkin received an email suggesting we pre-book the shows and times. Previous cruises we just went to the show usually lots of seats. Experience of those traveling on NCL would be appreciated.

We will be on the ship for Halloween. Anyone know if they celebrate.

I got a pretty good deal on OO guarantee for August 1, 2020.  I’m a solo cruiser and paid about 2900 for this.  The per person cost for an inside on this cruise was 1799 per person so I’m paying significantly lower tha the normal 200 percent single occupancy rate.

The OO cabins are outside on the main deck near the front.  These cabins are for solos.   The main deck is the lowest deck. They are under the show area.

I have ave no previous experience with HAL but I have cruised enough to understand the risks involved with a guarantee.

I assume this price is US.

Is it booked with a flexible fare with deposit refundable up to 90 days prior to sailing?

Looking at the layout the forward most cabins are 127 sq ft and the farthest back are 172 sq ft almost 50% bigger. Its a personal choice but I would book a specific stateroom looking to get the biggest available. I read a comment that some have a chair and some don't. However you could also get lucky and get moved to a regular ocean-view cabin.

You can also google and check out  halfacts and look at photos of cabins that CC members have contributed to.  They show single cabins, inside, etc.  It’s a great resource.

Thanks want to look at some photos.

Don't understand the single cabin, only one available and they want over 4000 Cdn. cheaper to get an oceanview and pay single supplement they are cheaper by several hundred. Called and spoke with general sales at HAL and was told this frequently comes up and they constantly memo "Pricing Control" about it.

  4. I am considering a cruise on the Koningsdam In October. I will be a traveling solo  and looking for some advice on cabin selection.

I am looking at booking an inside cabin do to cost of paying single supplement.

There appears to be a good selection of cabins to choose from on decks from 4-8 and aft, mid and fwd.

Can someone suggest a deck and pros/cons of location. My understanding is there is less motion midship

  5. You don't say what windows version you are using. If you are now on Windows 10 you might consider disabling Norton if you have the same problem again. Windows 10 has excellent built in virus protection and you don't really need Norton or other virus protection but that is a personal preference and some feel safer using a separate virus program

If using an older version of windows you could try disabling Norton temporarily to see if it is the problem.

  6. Yes, and the picture shows only the included drinks of the Standard Package - which is below the Classic Package.

Sorry I am confused. So there are 3 packages? I couldn't see anything but this package and the premium package. Any chance that the standard and classic are the same?

  7. I notice all the cocktails are an up charge unless you have the premium drink package.

Can you obtain regular cocktails within the classic drink package in Blu? Such as shown below.

  8. Don't stress. Can pretty much guarantee you'll get your wish. We always book late traditional and it is never crowded. Lots of empty tables.

People really need to read the entire thread.

They don't want late dining that is part of the problem they are encountering.

    From the original post

""I am so upset for my parents:(:(. Neither of them want to eat at 8.30pm - it's simply too late for them. Other than that they face eating apart from their friends. How likely is it that the Maitre D can change this when they get on board?""

  9. Thank you borntokrooz & jelayne, the hideaway looks like a great spot! Looking forward to trying them out.

Yes it should be a good spot normally, however we found a lot of noise coming from the card room which is above or below can"t recall. On our trip several couples played mahjong almost all the time on sea days. Don't know how to play mahjong but they did a lot of shouting and banging down tiles, not sure if that is the norm.

  10. I hit for $3600 on my last cruise on Reflection......New Digital Machine with the pirates fighting feature......

    Cheers!

Reminds me of my late father who used to tell me of his nice big winnings. Problem was he never mentioned his total outlay to the casino. I was surprised when dealing with his estate to come across his meticulous record that showed he spent far in excess of what he ever won.

I will never begrudge the casino in his case though as it provided him with fun and entertainment and he could afford his spending habit. I do believe there are others who spend and cannot afford their losses an it probably impacts severely on their cost of living.

  11. That fixed it for me. It looks like the old username login doesn't work any more, even though it still prompts for email or username. It has to be your email address.

Yes after logging out and trying to sign in with my username which worked before I now get a cannot process msg with try again later. Using my email address works fine.

  12. My experience today.Only found the sign in by going to https://www.celebritycruises.com and not using the old url I had with Lastpass.

Attempted to login with my email and password but no luck for 3 tries. Then used my username and it brought to a new screen where I had to pick a security question and add info they already had. Tried submitting without a new password but wouldn't create. Entered my existing password that already had a letter and number and was over 8 units and voila it set me up with my old password intact. Opening screen took about 30 seconds to show my current booking. No past cruises so went to "my account" and Captains club number was not shown so filled it in and back to past cruises which now was up to date.

  13. Mango smoothie for breakfast

    Filet for entree

Apple crumble with ice cream for dessert

Remember that you can choose an entree in an appetizer portion if you choose. The risotto is always good:D

Is filet always available or do you need to request it if not on the menu?

Any chance you can get a surf and turf? A small lobster tail with the filet would be so good.

  14. Was about to book a land tour last night on our Western Med cruise out of Southampton in Sep . Had taken screen shots a while back of a couple of them and when i checked back the one we want has shot up another $13 !! I wondered if they had all gone up as the exchange rate is not good at the mo but no, some have actually gone down !! Told hubby we should have booked it up earlier !! Shall i wait till nearer the time? Could there be a sale coming up as company’s jack up prices to then lower them in a sale to make it look like you are getting a discount . I know its only $26 in total but it has peeved me off!!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

You can cancel up to a few days before your cruise date.

We booked tours on our last cruise and when a sale came on we cancelled and rebooked. Some popular tours actually fill up, we had a Pompeii tour do that and then had to settle for our second choice.

  15. So, is there much to do in Civitavecchia for a day?

We will be in Rome at 10.30am, so we are torn between heading to the port and having a day there, or heading to Rome city centre and having a day walk around and head to port the next morning.

Civitavecchia seems to be a quiet port town, with basic hotels and not much to do by all accounts? But it would meant that one day in transit would be all we have to deal with, Dublin to Rome to port same day (after a 3am start) rather than Dublin to Rome one day and Rome to Civitavecchia on the second day.

I do think the Rome day could be more productive though, even if the hotels are more expensive.

Think of it this way doing Rome will cost you the cost of a hotel for 1-2 nights plus restaurants. You already have the transportation costs. Rome is simply a gorgeous city to wander in especially if you stay in the older part. Last fall we stayed in a small B&B (Garibaldi Suites, 5 rooms, Katia the Manager can arrange anything) near the Spanish steps. Close to metro and easy to walk many sites. Vatican, Parthenon, Trevi, lots of great budget or pricey restaurants whatever your flavour. I would recommend 2 nights and really enjoy Rome before your cruise, you will not regret the extra expense.
