  1. Dear H,

I know how you dream to cruise solo.

I will be cruising solo on Carnival Freedom Aug. 29 in a balcony cabin on your favorite Deck 7.

I love to cruise solo because I'm not a fan of "sharing". However, for you I would be delighted and honored to make an exception I'm a granny-type and like you know all the ins-and-outs of cruising. So, pack your bags and join me. This could be a real almost-solo cruise. Think of the fun. I will be your Thing 2. No naps unless you want one. Sugar! Cheese and Orange Sherbet. Foot races down the halls and up the stairs. Hide and Seek in the Atrium. YES!

  2. For us it is Carnival, number of children are very dependent on time of year. Lots of energy and activities but plenty of quiet places to relax. We have a HAL cruise booked for February 2016. We picked based on the itinerary (11 day Panama canal ). A little worried it may be a little quiet for us.

For reference I am 58 and wife is 46. From what I read we will be among the youngest on the ship.

Stevec999, I am a huge fan of HAL and have done the 10/11 day Panama Canal. You will LOVE it. No worries, you won't be the youngest.

  3. I have never taken the taxi because I was coming from the airport but it is really close so it should be very inexpensive.

Thanks. Easier for me to book Sunset Beach through Resort for a Day. Transportation is included in the cost to and from pier.

  4. Jamaica has gotten bad reviews since I began visiting the Island 30 years ago. (It was probably getting bad reviews even before that). Anyway, like many posters say: It is different than U.S. If you haven't traveled much outside the U.S. you may feel uncomfortable. Suggest you check out one of the Resorts for a Day beach deals.

  5. I just emailed with them this week. If you go directly through them it was $60 for the day all inclusive, resort for a day was charging $75 each. They said no reservation just pay at the front desk.

I believe Resort for a Day includes transportation in the price. Any idea what taxi cost is? I'm interested in Sunset Beach too.

  6. Thank you again everyone. I love CC and its members. Always so helpful.

    I am booking 11624.

Was able to switch from a balcony cabin to a mini-suite with no extra cost due to price drops. Also got free ultimate dining package as a perk. First time on NCL after being a HAL fan for many years. Very excited.

    HUGS!

    C,

  7. Well....we were booked in a Mini-suite under LaCucina on the Jade a few years ago during our European cruise. It was horribly noisy....we could hear things banging and sliding around until 2 or so in the morning. Others experiences may be better.....but ours was awful. I don't remember the exact cabin number, but it was pretty noisy. NCL moved us to another cabin after a couple of days, but there is no guarantee that something will be available.

Could you have been under the galley adjacent to La Cucina?

  8. Carnival - just be sure to go when the kids are in school! If you take a longer Iteniary, during a non-school break period, you'll see energetic happy people... Yep there's a water slide, but I'll have it all to myself (and I'll be 60 shortly).

Oh, I love your attitude. I am taking my first solo Carnival cruise on Aug 29. I am looking forward to that water slide. Will turn 70 next week (oh oh....Is there an age limit on the water slide?)
