We did it comfortably, but
- we were early off the ship, taxi from quayside to station (you need to be lucky, because it's a secure port, no walking - and ships' shuttlebuses take you to the city centre & you then need a local bus to the station). We caught a train at about 8.15. Trains terminate at Firenze Santa Maria Novella, right on the edge of the historic centre of Florence.
NB Florence first, Pisa last. Pisa is much much closer to Livorno, there are more trains from Pisa to Livorno than from Florence, taxi from Pisa to ship if necessary
(I'm very glad we didn't listen to advice to go to Pisa first "because it's crowded later in the day". It wasn't.)
- we weren't fussed about inside visits in Florence. We left around mid-afternoon.
And no chance of climbing the leaning tower in the timescale.
- like yours our ship sailed about7pm.
- you'll get a flavour of both, but not in-depth.
Your train ticket allows you to break your journey, so all you need is a return ticket to Florence.
It's a 20 minute level walk from Pisa Centrale to the Field of Miracles.
Go armed with a list of train times for all options, https://www.trenitalia.com/it.html and double-check those times when you get to Livorno Centrale. Then you can change your mind depending how the day is panning-out.
JB 🙂
Thank you.

Would it be possible to do Pisa and Florence in one day from Livorno? We are in port from 7AM-7PM.

Last year on the Getaway pre cruise I was able to make MDR reservations for every night. I like eating at a set time. And there was a time or two when the wait would have been over 30 minutes of I didn't have a reservation.
This year for my Encore cruise I was not able to make any MDR reservations. Got the prompt not available to book, try when onboard.
I tried the help chat and they told me to just wait until I was onboard and do it then.
After I was onboard I was able to make all my MDR reservations for the week on the app. There was a time or two that I saw 4 or 5 groups waiting to be seated but we got sat right away with our reservations.
I think we were out each night in about an hour or less.
Thank you so much.

I realize NCL has anytime dining in their main dining rooms but can you still make reservations?

Which embassy?
On our cruise last week, there were passengers from holding passports from 65 different countries.
Did you want the number for the embassy of Spain? Cuba? China? Russia?
Aside from the snarky reply, it was just a question. Obviously it would be for the ports on a particular cruise. It looks like they only list port agents, so I looked up the ones I might need.

Just looking at Welcome Pickups, you can cancel up to 48 hours ahead but they only refund 80% or 100% credit. So we are looking for another option.

Thank you.

I printed my luggage tags for upcoming cruise, should there be a bar code on them?

The Local Port Agent--Yes
US Embassy- No
The Port Agent would probably have that information or could get it quickly.
Thank you

Does NCL list phone numbers of US embassies for each port in daily paper?
-
Thank you.

Check in available starting today and they ask you to pick check in time starting as early as 9:30 AM. If I enter 10 AM for instance but don’t show up until noon, will that be a problem? We will be in Barcelona and may choose to do one more activity before boarding.

Was May 25 the original scheduled date for Getaway to enter dry dock?

I would suggest finding a tour that just goes to Lake Bled so you have more time to enjoy and possibly take boat on the lake and enjoy Kreme cake at on of the many cafes.

So sorry about your changes. We are on cruise after you and 3 weeks ago they dropped Corfu replaced with Katakolon. Not happy. Now hearing of you changes I guess would could expect further changes. From what I have read this seems to be a regular thing with NCL. We too book a cruise because of itinerary. They only seem to do this after final payment which leaves one with no options. I know cruise contract says they can do this, but I think they are abusing it.

We are planning on train from Livorno to Pisa and Florence. Should we go to Pisa first or reverse?

How late do shuttle buses run on return to ship?

The train is about an hour and 20 minutes. Some are a little less than this and some are a little bit more. Once at Livorno Centrale its about 15-20 minute taxi to the pier. Figure total travel time is 2 hours to be safe.
I wouldn't depart Florence any later than 4 and most likely would leave more like 3:30 to build in some buffer time in case something went sideways.
Thank you.

Our ship leaves Livorno at 7PM, what time should I book train from Florence to Livorno to make it back to ship by 6PM?

So you have decided, based on a few non professional photos, that the food is bad. That is just sad.
No I’ve seen other photos and reviews, maybe it will be different on board. Maybe with my low expectations I might be pleasantly surprised.

I’m sorry but the food doesn’t look very good, I guess I will be losing a lot of weight on our upcoming cruise. Definitely will be eating in every port.
-
We always made a reservation according to times in port. Reservations as previously stated 6-9:30, but sometimes we would walk down at 5:30 and people were already seated.
