  1. I fail to see how this scenario could come anywhere close to the frustration/disappointment of those passengers affected by the plans they made in good faith being forcibly denied.
  2. I understand your general point, but my own “first hand” knowledge is the “fact” that our innocent booking was accepted in January 2023. Would X really have perpetuated the problem if they were fully aware then? If I’m allowed to “think”, it’s as previously stated: Volunteers should’ve been sought and encouraged to alleviate some of the turmoil. At least, it would’ve seemed like X was working “with” us loyal passengers, not against. But IF in fact, X has now completed resolving the issue in their own mysterious way, perhaps this thread is no longer relevant, as you suggest.
  3. I suspect January/February 2023 because that’s when very suddenly, ALL of the Japanese sailings were admittedly “red-flagged” and disappeared from the market. We, and countless others, strongly suspected that the sailings were under cancellation consideration at the time. Little did we know… I realize that Celebrity asking for volunteers would’ve been an even bigger hassle for them. But really, since it was entirely their fault, they should’ve handled it in this fairest, least destructive, way to the fullest extent possible. They could’ve made voluntary cancellation attractive enough to generate results and saved a LOT of grief, hard feelings and bad press for the heavy-handed way they did go about it. Just my opinion…
  4. Balcony. My agent seems to think it’s because of the size of his company, but who knows??
  5. Not really. I booked in January 2023 with a TA and we’re seemingly okay so far...🤞. There doesn’t appear to be any rhyme or reason as to how Celebrity did their dastardly cuts. I feel badly for all who were adversely affected affected. How on earth does this happen in this day and age of advanced technology??
  6. Some credit card companies include Travel insurance for cancelled plans paid for with their card. Those affected should check it out if their Airline loss is over Celebrity’s measly $500 limit. My own card company says that you can even claim for cash reimbursement where the Airline gives you a mandatory credit. You need to let the credit lapse and then make the claim. FYI
  7. I believe they’re one in the same.
  8. At the expense of devastating loyal passengers who booked in good faith!
  9. I feel your angst, but supposedly, all the eviction letters for this particular sailing have already gone out. Hope it’s true!🤞
  10. The $500 is meant only to recover some of your own money lost on non-refundable airfare or other travel-related expense for this cancelled trip, a spit in the bucket for some.
  11. I hope that ill-informed “Celebrity representative” was informed that there were NO requests for volunteers. It would’ve made too much sense.
  12. Just when we thought Celebrity’s operating style couldn’t get any more incompetent.🫢
  13. If you booked through a huge agency, you might be lucky, too.
