  1. We just stayed at the Pier 66 a couple of weeks ago. I too was concerned by reading the reviews, especially now that it is an "unbranded" hotel. But found the property clean and service fine. I booked the cruise & snooze package. It includes two "welcome" drinks, two buffet breakfasts and two "passes" for the shuttle to the pier....all in one price. Easy to budget that way. They also have a beach shuttle. We needed to go to the Marriott Harbor because we had a dinner certificate, and they happily dropped us off at Holiday drive. I normally take soda with me on board, and the little mini mart across the street worked just fine. If I was younger, I would have opted to go over the bridge to the various shops. But I had no need to. We are booked there again in September and are planning on having dinner at the restaurant there.

Oh and we have stayed at the Bahia Mar and the B Ocean (when it had two other names) but found the Pier 66 better suited for us

Can you tell me where your room was at Pier 66 thanks

  2. I talked a large group into joining us on the Seaside. Everyone is reading reviews and wants to cancel. Any word if the sewage smell can be corrected. Also, this is a very casual group - all eat at the buffet 3 meals a day. If the dinner buffet does not start getting better reviews, I have no hope of saving this group. I really hope MSC is reading the reviews. I'd love to try this ship. We have been on more than 55 cruises. It would be nice to add another line to the list.

Is any of your group in the YC? When is your sailing date?

  3. I'm sure you will love it! Overall I thought the YC area on Seaside was nicer than the Haven area on the NCL ships, especially the pool, pool deck, and lounge. The Top Sail Lounge is really wonderful, and right now NCL offers nothing quite like it for the Haven (they will on Bliss though). Just love that forward facing view. I also liked that the restaurant and lounge were connected. It was nice to hear the violinist and pianist from the lounge up in the restaurant. Where the Haven was quite superior was with cuisine. More choice, better prepared, and better quality. All the rest I give to MSC but overall very similar.

I agree 100% with this. YC is so close to having the best product at sea. NCL Haven we felt had the best food of all our cruises.

  4. I'm sorry....but I just got a chuckle out of this... oh my.....LOL

Not sure what the chuckle is all about? Nice shorts, button down golf shirt and boat shoes will work for you. We were on for the Jan 27th cruise YC and some men had shorts on and didn't get turned away.

  5. I guess everyone has different experiences. We have been in the Haven on Escape and the YC on Seaside. The butler on escape didn't give us the time of day. Never was around. Seaside butler always seem to be around and couldn't do enough for us. We felt the pool area and furniture was much better on seaside and a larger area. Haven did have better cabins and there food in the dining room was better then Seaside. Bottom line is, MSC price point for the YC is much better then NCL Haven at least for us.

  6. We are traveling April 7, 2018. It is for a honeymoon.

My partner has convinced me to make the upgrade. I was personally looking forward to the whirlpool on my balcony but the reviews have made me concerned for the rest of the ship outside of the YC. Of course, many of the issues can and will be resolved by our cruising, but for our honeymoon and an additional $400.. we decided to make the move. I am sure I would have had a good time in the Aurea suite. I am not knocking the rest of the experiences. A cruise is what you make of it. I am confident we will enjoy our experience in the YC as it is our honeymoon and a little pampering will be nice.

That being said-- we upgraded for $400. We lost the whirlpool and the messages so let me ask a few questions.

    1. What are the hours of the pool and whirlpool at the YC Deck? Easy to find a chair?

    2. Anyone have an accurate number on how much a massage is? I have heard around $100. Is that accurate?

    3. What else can you tell me about YC?

I am excited to make the move. Sad to be giving up the WP but the room turned out to be a tad different then I expected. I hope to try the 2 floor WP suite on the Merviglia one day.

thanks for any and all replies[/quote

Good for you. We arrived pool side around 8am and chairs were all set up and ready. Pool bar closes at 8pm so I would think so would pool.

I think the couples message was around $200.

You are giving up a whirlpool but gaining a private pool and deck area where you don't have to fight for chairs.

    Great move, you will enjoy.

    Cheers

  7. We have sailed on NCL quite a bit lately. Our last NCL cruise was canceled recently so as we move forward we are looking to perhaps sailing MSC Seaside in 2019 for DH's birthday. The Yacht Club seems to match the Haven pretty well and this would be our choice for the sailing. For those who take a look at this thread, I wondered a few things. 1- Is there a YC pool area or only sitting areas w/o pool? and 2- Can meals from any restaurant be brought to your YC cabin? 3- on the Formal nights must one dress formal to dine in the YC restaurant?

I am sure there may be some answers on multiple threads so please excuse my questions. Thanks for your help in answering my questions. We will be Black on MSC - yes, one of those people that will transfer.

    My opinion...

Seaside YC blows NCL Haven pool area away. Pool, two jacuzzi's and a bigger sun deck area.

Not sure if you can bring meals from other restaurant's to your cabin. Never felt the need to eat dinner in my cabin.

I don't believe you have to dress formal to eat in the YC restaurant, Just no shorts.
