We have booked a great deal for a balcony on Celebration, then along comes an even better deal for a balcony on the Regal Princess. We have a couple days until final payment for Celebtation. We have never been on the Excel class of Carnival ships. The Princess cruise comes out to $300 less pp, with potentially even more savings over Carnival if we choose plus. But we can't decide! Is cruising on the new class of ship worth the extra $$$?

I guess it depends on if you like Carnival.  To us there is not really a comparison.... will never cruise on Carnival.

I am going to say it is maybe Jan. 29th.

Even on large group cruises, I don't know if I have heard of them reserving a dining room for the cruise.  Everybody could be free to make their own dining arrangements.  Even if there are a lot of planned events.

The person to ask is probably the person in charge of arranging the group.

Just curious, why do you think it is Jan 29th?

This was our experience on the Regal as well.  I spoke to a DR host on the afternoon of embarkation and he has us setup right away.  We did ask on our own volition to move after a week to 10 days for a quieter section near the front and had a better wait team to go with it.  We were then offered an even better table with the same waiters for the final segment since it was open for the taking.

IMO, the dining team on Regal does a great job working with guests to provide a TD experience.

I asked some questions of a couple of senior staff, but never did get around to an audience with the DRO.  At first, the Patters listed all DR's as opening at 6pm, but they really opened at 5:30pm.  I asked what they were doing with guests who booked prior to 5:30pm in DMW pre-cruise and they were being accommodated in Allegro.

Club Class has been moved down to Deck 5 Mid-ship (Port side).  The other side is for Walk-Ups as I understand it.  Deck 6 Mid-ship where we were had both walk-ups and res.  And also TD set tables.  So, we got the DR we wanted and the TD experience and was quite pleased.

We used the DR a lot for breakfast and rarely for lunch.  Service could be slow waiting for mains, so you had to let waiter know if you wanted to move things along.  Lots of nice staff.

It's unfortunate the System is not up to doing what it should, but the Regal team is doing a great job managing it IMO.

So Club Class dining has moved from deck 6 port side to deck 5?

Since this is in the Princess Forum, I'll answer for Princess ships. As near as I can tell from the Alaska Cruises out of Vancouver, all of the Princess ships have indoor pools. The Majestic has the Hollywood Pool, Discovery has the Retreat Pool and Crown, Sapphire and Grand have the Calypso Pool. Out of Seattle it is Discovery and the Royal, and the Royal has the Retreat Pool as well.

So all the Princess ships have indoor pools for Alaska, unless I am missing something.

Where is the covered pool on the Regal?  I don't see one.

  5. Just used for the 1st time on our upcoming cruise to Caribbean.  Got a really good price for 1st class from Sacramento to Fort Lauderdale.

We always go a day early to make sure there are no problems.  As far as hotels, it really depends on what you want, how close to the port, and what you want to pay.  We stay in one of the 17th Street hotels, but they are pricey.

Right now we’re plotting to book the 28-32 day RT Princess cruise from LA to Hawaii, Tahiti and a variety of Pacific Islands.

This is one of our bucket list cruises.  We had it booked several years ago then our son decided he was getting married around the same time.  Had to cancel and never re-booked.  The price has gone up considerably!

Have you seen this?  It explains the location of the bungalows pretty good....

Yes, thanks, I have seen this.  It does show that #7-14 are closer to the beach.  Talked to someone who had #8 and said it was a great location, close to bathrooms, food and drink.

We have been to HAL's Half Moon Cay many times and had cabanas, so we do have our favorites there.  Was hoping to hear from Princess folks as to their favorite on Princess Cays.

  8. Yes, very poor marketing practice.  I did the same as most of you.  Already booked Plus for our upcoming cruise then received this email.  The email specifically identified our booking number.  You would think that their marketing department algorithm would know what is in your cruise.

We are booked on an Eastern Caribbean Cruise in February. We  are thinking of adding the Western Caribbean to this. Where do you go between cruises and what is the process for disembarking and re-embarking?

We are on a B2B cruise on Regal in February (the 19th).

At some point before they begin general boarding for the 2nd part of the cruise, all continuing passengers will gather in a specified area and be taken off the ship into the terminal.  They must "zero out" all passengers before they can start boarding. After a brief period you will be led back onto the ship.

We pretty much always just relax by the pool or the Thermal Suite/Enclave (we usually book this as well).  You could also do an excursion if you desire.

No disrespect,  but are you are talking about American beer which is, to be polite, somewhat lacking in the alcohol department ? Most mass produced beers don't even reach 4.5%.

Hopefully you can point me in the right direction as to what to order next time I am in SF.

No disrespect? Really?? You would've fooled me!

Have done the Chef's table twice and found it to be such an amazing experience.  Well worth it.  Have a cruise planned for 2023 and looking forward to doing it again.

Totally agree. Have done 2 as well and planning to do again on our upcoming cruise.  I wonder if they have updated the recipe book.  We have 2 identical, with the exceptions to the "autographs".

  12. I have never used them in the past but thought I would try for our upcoming cruise.  I was able to book 1st class (Sacramento - Fort Lauderdale, round trip) for HALF the cost of the lowest discount fare I could find.  So far, GREAT!
