  1. 3 great ports, I suggest combination of good books, internet and the threads here can help. Everyone's interest is different, the three ports have something for everyone and too much that one must make choices on the day in port between scenic/iconic sites, history, museums, etc. etc.

These are very busy ports and if you can afford it, highly recommend a private tour/car versus the cattle car bus tours that the cruise ship recommend. With a private car/tour you can pick the sites and save many valuable minutes versus having to do the hordes tours.

    Happy researching!

    I must agree with chipmaster

  2. the quote function does not seem to be working right now. albertbell and eurotravelmagazine-did either of you travel with luggage? if so, how was it to handle and navigate? were there stairs on either end? thanks

Termini is not a same area, be careful. I had a bad experince there :(

  3. We just returned from our cruise and used RIL for 2 ports - Rome and Naples. Both times were well above expectations. There were six of us in total (all family) with one person who was travelling with a mobility scooter

In Rome we had Sergio. He truly loves his Rome and took great pleasure in showing us it. Lines to enter St. Peters Basillica were very long (he estimated at least a couple of our wait - there was a conference of German Catholic Students - 50,000 of them in Rome when we were there). We decided with his suggestion to spend limited time in St. Peters Square. He took us to another Basillica (St. Paul outside the wall is what he called it) and it was stunning. He was flexible to our schedule and even made sure we got gelato for our 6-year-old at the end of the day. He was excellent as was our day with him.

In Naples we chose to do the Positanto, Sorrento and Pompeii tour with RIL. We had Giovanni as our driver. While he was very good, we had been spoiled the day before. We had a very enjoyable day but felt a tad rushed and felt like everything was on the clock. The area was very nice. In retrospect, we wish we had more time at Pompeii.

Overall I would highly recommend this company for tours. Well worth the money we spent for the 2 days.

Thanks for sharing your experince with us.

  4. Seating in a pre-booked restaurant can't be more opposite to the authentic "tapas spirit".

Tapas is not really typical from Barcelona, so most tapas bars are just tourist traps.

Have fun planing and look for something different then a Tapas :)

  5. We did a four hour tour with Barcelona Day Tours that was great. We had four persons and our luggage was kept in the van. It was a great solution as to how to visit Barcelona before we could check in to our hotel.

If you are pushed for time, do the tour. You can do Barcelona on your own, using the HoHo bus, walk or METRO, but it takes more time. Park Guell is a bid out of the way, so having a tour guide take you there is nice. Also, BDT took us to see the other Gaudi houses that you would not see on your own. Note, you won't be able to go inside Sagrada Familia on the tour, but we went back and were glad we did see the inside.

I agre with this post, I have done Barcelona using the same tour company and have had a great time with them, not worrying about the train, Metro bus tickets and not thinking of buying a map and finding a sites, sitting in a A/C van worth that extra money.

    Only my 2cent :)

  6. 1st of all you are confusing RomeInLimo with LimoInRome which is a different tour company, Claudio is not RomeInLimo and this has been discussed in the past and also on the link "CruiseBruce" gave you which is all about RomeInLimo.

I have looked at RomeInLimo's website since I am thinking to book some of their walking tours for my land trip this year, they don't offer excursions to Cinqueterre on their site!

Cinqueterre is one of those areas I think you need to book a ship excursion and not a private tour, no company can actually drive you out there, they can basically offer you round trip transfer and then you will be on your own, otherwise you need to book a car plus a guide which will make sense but it will cost a lot.

    Have fun planing :)

  7. We will be sailing out of Rome and are looking for hotel recommendations. We're planning on staying for 3 days prior to sailing.

Albergo del senato, right in front of the Pantheon in the middle of Rome, clean rooms and helpful staff.

  8. I stand corrected ... it is LimoInRome - and Claudio - I am booked with. Thank you for clarifying. Just goes to show what happens when you transpose a few words.;)

So ... the big question now is ... since this is a "RomeInLimo" thread, did I book the wrong company?? Or is this thread actually about LimoInRome? And can you point me to the "huge thread" about which one I should use?

The hugh thread is this one

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=738183&highlight=romeinlimo

But as others said, this doesn't mean you are going with the wrong company, this thread is the only one actually compare both of this tour companies which is why I thought it make sense to be posted here even if it was opened few years ago!

    ONLY my 2 cents ...

    Have fun planing

  9. We have booked romain limo for 2 tours - the Classic Rome one day and The Vatican the next. Claudio is ordering our Vatican tickets for us.

Be aware that RomeInLimo.com & LimoInRome.com are two different tour companies, if you have booked with Claudio, your are booked with LIR and not RIL and there is hugh thread on which company you should use.

  10. We did Orvieto and Civit... last fall. If you go, take the Orvieto underground tour

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

We also did the same tour, LOVED the itinerary and LOVED our driver :)
