  1. You’re welcome!

As to the price it depends, it’s not a bad price depending on what type of cabin is it? Is that per person? One person or more than one person in the cabin? I generally get a balcony cabin, so I kind of use that as a base for looking at price. I’ve paid less that what you have there and I’ve paid more, just depends on the sailing.

    Hope this is helpful :)

  2. Just wondering about the on board account. If you purchase items, dining plans, excursions, etc before your cruise does it still show up on your on board account?

I’m asking because the trip is a gift for my parents and I’d rather they don’t know exactly how much things cost. (I’m in a different cabin so I’d rather those things show up on my account instead). Is this possible?

    Thanks!

  3. Unfortunately, adding someone can sometimes be harder than removing or changing. Adding a person to the reservation is controlled by lifeboat capacity. If that is at capacity then you cannot add anyone even if your cabin can hold more people. I learned this first hand a couple years ago when I tried to add my niece to my aft suite on the breakaway.

I am running into this issue as well. I am currently booked in a balcony as a solo; my girlfriend decided she wants to go with me. They have told me there is currently a capacity issue and won't let me add her. I get it, but didn't I pay for 2 people?

I hadn’t anticipated that (capacity) as an issue and I also feel that since I’m paying for two i should be able to add someone.

So let me ask this, if I add the other person and they can’t come, I shouldn’t have to pay any extra later?

  4. Goofymom3 thanks for the update! We're sailing 9 Dec so was very interested in your review. This is our 2nd sailing on Epic with the last being in 2010, so we're sure there will be some differences. Thanks again!

I also sailed on the Epic in 2010, it was a great ship, studio cabins were a new concept then. Would love to travel on Epic again. Hope you enjoy.

The Epic did a long dry dock 2 years ago where they rebuilt all of he public areas from the deck plates up and replaced 2 engines. We were on the first repositioning cruise after dry dock when the paint was still drying (literally).

While I enjoyed my cruise in 2010, there were several mechanical issues, etc during the sailing. A number of individuals in the studio cabins had flooding and were moved to balcony cabins (my carpet didn’t get wet, just the bathroom floor so I stayed put, no upgrade for me lol). We spent a sea day “running routine tests on the engines”. Sure. A few days later our departure from Cozumel was delayed by several hours as “the winds were too strong to push the ship from the dock”. Made me a little nervous. Despite all that, the crew made the best of it for us and I had no real complaints about the sailing itself. Just seemed like a lot of problems for an almost brand new ship.

  5. You can buy bottles of wine on ship but it would be much cheaper to just bring your own and pay the $15 corkage. You can also buy a bar setup. Here are prices from another post:

THere are the prices for the Current Norwegian stateroom Bar setup prices. Name brand spirits are offered by the bottle. These alcoholic beverages are sold as BarSet Up amenity orders. Bar Set-Up is available on all Ships excluding Pride of America.

    Please Note:

Bar Set-Up is not available for purchase on-board.

Bar Set-Up must be pre-arranged before the voyage and can be requested up to the day prior to sailing.

Prices are subject to change. A service fee of $3.00 per bottle will be applied.

So when you pick the mix/garnishes do they keep them replenished?

  6. I think the solo happy hour would be a great way to connect with other solo travellers. This is a good idea on NCL's part. Did you like the solo suites on the Epic?

The solo suite was great for me, just enough room. Its a bit small but let's face it, most of us don't spend that much time in our cabins unless we have a balcony. Like I said, I had a great time and met great people, and the demographics were all over the map, young people and retired folks alike. Mine was a little different in that I was on a b2b so for the most part it was different people in each of the two weeks.

Hope this is of help and I hope you have a fantastic time!

  7. I'm seriously debating booking a cruise for one out of New York for New Year's. I've never travelled anywhere alone before and I'm a little nervous about it. Would 'you' do it? I'm worried instead of being home alone this year, I'll be alone on a ship full of people

I would totally do it! I went on my first solo cruise on the Epic, had a great time and made friends I still keep in touch with. The solo travellers happy hour ( or whatever it's called) was a great place to meet people and to make plans for dinner or whatever else.

  8. I 100% agree with both of you. I have cruised with NCL before and am anxious to introduce the rest of my family to it. For a variety of reasons I've had to postpone my cruise a number of times (let's just say work related reasons) and each time I call they are extremely friendly and helpful and make sure both reservations (mine and my parents) are changed over and connected and that all of the details are sorted out. Can't wait for my cruise in 2018!

I completely agree. I have been been dealing with a TA (major timeshare package) who can’t seem to get the booking straight. Every time I’m done with the TA I call NCL and they go over my booking line by line to make sure it is correct. Then they tell me what the TA needs to do to fix it. Never rushed always helpful.

  9. Live with a dealer. Daily tournament on sea days but starts pretty early, like 8-10am I think. Rebuy and add-ons. Not sure the fees though because I am never up that early on sea days.

And every night, there is a cash game, $2-5 NL I believe is the standard. Obviously depends on number of people wanting to play. They won't open the cash game without atleast half a table I think.

Thanks so much! The last (non-NCL) cruise we went on they had this no dealer electronic setup and it wasn't like playing real poker. Plus the rake was really high and it forced you to play more hands per hour based on the timer.
