  1. Hello....Looking for some help! We have booked the following cabins:

D734, D735 and E730 for an upcoming Alaska Cruise. It shows that the balcony is partly obstructed?? Does anyone have any advice and or pictures of these cabins?? Are they good cabins? Never been on the Grand and we usually love the aft cabins.

    Thanks in advance! :)

  2. If we are just talking about time frame, you could look somewhere around 2-4PM as a time frame. That of course is just to give you a mark on the wall and that guess is very fluid, many things could influence that estimate. It is a little easier to make that prediction after you clear Gatun Locks. Once you clear Gatun it should take about 5.5- 6 hours to get to Miraflores.

Centennial Bridge to Pedro Miguel Locks is a little more than a mile. Just remember these are just estimates and who knows what may influence your transit. I'll enclose a link to an earlier post on this thread about an unusually long transit for the Island Princess. Never did find out what the problem was.

Oh by the way... hitting the locks... really not a good metaphor to use when speaking of ships maneuvering around concrete structures! Steel and concrete don't mix well! Just kidding;):D!!

Thanks!! And yes, using the word "hit" was probably not the best choice!! :D

  3. All depends on traffic in the Canal. Could be anywhere from 4pm to 7pm. Done 3 Caribbean to Pacific transits, started between 6 and 7am each time. Into the Pacific as early as 4, and as late as 7:30.

    Thanks!!

  4. Does anyone know what time we will hit the Miraflores Locks? We are cruising from the Atlantic to the Pacific. We enter Gatun Locks around 6am on April 3. I know it can take anywhere from 8-10 hours, but was looking for a time frame. Any help would be appreciated! Also, how far is the Centennial bridge to the Pedro Miguel and Miraflores locks?

  6. I've always understood multi-drink purchases are not covered, like you can't get a bucket of beers, nor the 6-glass martini flight with the package. Nor will it work with the wine tastings or whiskey tastings that involve multiple beverages served at once.

We have been getting the drink package ever since they started offering them! We always get the premium package and was told the first cruise we had the package, that since we had the premium package we could pay the difference of Martini flights or glasses of wine. We are not beer drinkers, so I can't answer about the bucket of beers. As for the wine or whiskey tasting, yes we know that is not part of the drink package. And neither are the wine machines in the Wine Cellar. There were a couple of times they assumed I had the classic drink package and served me a smaller martini. But once they took my card and saw I had the premium the bartender apologized left and right. I told him no worries.

With the flights, I asked if the policy had changed from last year and they said no. And when they brought the bar manager to me (I did not ask them to) and asked him, he said you should only pay the difference as long as you have the premium package. The did change the policy with the classic, as you can only order 3 different Martinis. In the past you could order any martini and the would just bring a smaller one. I hope they stop offering this as a perk!

  7. Our issue with the drink package this trip was this. We always purchase the premium drink package, and when ordering anything over the allotted amount, you were only to pay the difference. For instance....a martini flight was 16.00, so we should only be charged 3.00 plus tax and tip. The first night, they were trying to charge us the full amount, but after talking to the bar management, they charged us the difference.

I also noticed that since Celebrity is offering the drink packages as a perk, the bars and coffee places are more packed with people. I have never seen the martini bar so busy on all the other cruises where this perk was not offered.

  8. Hello,

I have tried and tried to see what kind of obstruction there is for this cabin. Does anyone have any pictures or has anyone stayed in this cabin on the Silhouette. I have found pictures of the Solstice, but when I compare the deck plans, they are different. On the Silhouette, it shows and empty area where there are no life boats?? Thanks for any help!!

    :)

  9. Hello,

We will be in San Juan from 3pm to 9pm and we are looking at doing the Bacardi Rum Tour on our own. It looks like the last tour is at 430, which we should be able to make. Has anyone done this on their own and if so how was the experience. Our ship is not offering a tour of the rum factory. I see we would need to take a 10-15 minute ferry ride and then taxi to the factory. Any help is appreciated. :)

    Thanks!

    Sheila

  10. We are also looking at 8348...I think this one has a larger (wider) balcony than the others....is this correct??

    Thanks!!

Hello...We have some group space on the Silhouette, and I am trying to find the great cabin. We are looking at the SV and the cabin numbers are:

    7311 , 7315 , 7317 , 7319 , 8351 , 8353

Does anyone have any pro/cons for any of these?? I did look at the spread sheet, but really did not help me to much.

    Thanks!

    Sheila

  11. Does anyone have an updated Wine by the glass list for the Constellation...looking at the one from April 2011 there are not that many choices? Is that the most current? Considering a drink package and how many choices there would be for the Premium pkg.

    Thanks

    Tammy

We were on the Constellation in November/December and we found better wines by the glass in Cellar Masters. Find one you like and let them know what it is in the Main Dining Room, and they will make sure they have that bottle ready for you (by the glass that is). At least they did for us. Tuscan Grille had a great wine called Super Tuscan! Not sure if you could get it in the Main Dining room. I noticed there was a different menu for wines by the glass in the main dining room than what was offered at other bars (Cellar Masters, Tuscan Grille).

  12. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using the Premium Drink package at the CellarMasters? Like, can you get wine under 12$ from the machines? Or do they have other wine you can get by the glass?

    Any help would be good.

    Thanks!

You can not use the machines with your seapass card. You can purchase a card to use in the machines. We ordered wine by the glass here, and then took the name of the wine we liked to dinner and our sommelier and she made sure we had this wine everynight with dinner. She was not very good at recommending wines for us, so we went tasting in Cellarmasters and found what we liked.

  13. Sorry but the answer is no. Your son cannot use your card to purchase a beverage. The package only allows you to obtain drinks for yourself. There is no sharing of the drinks under the package.

Your son will have to use his own card to purchase drinks for himself. He can either charge them individually to his account or he can purchase a package for himself. Also, if you want to get a drink for your son you must pay for it individually with a per item charge to your account.

Both my husband and I have the premium beverage package, and I am under the impression that I can take his card and use my card and get us both a drink at a bar. Is this not correct??

  14. Suites, CC and Aqua get fresh squeezed OJ with their breakfast, no charge. You can get regular OJ in other cabins.

We had no problems with the premium packages in March. We had our fill prior to returning to our cabin and had 2 bottles of wine available (which you allowed to bring at embarkation) if we really needed a drink later at night or prior to leaving for dinner.

    Have a great cruise.

I noticed you were on Dolphin in 1990....I sailed her in 1990 too! :) We did the Western and Eastern Caribbean in September! I really enjoyed that cruise too!

  15. Hi, Did Celebrity change the package and are charging 15% gratuity at the end of your cruise? Friends just got off the Equinox and said they were charged 15% over and above the package rate. When i sailed last year i believe gratuities were included.

I have already paid the 15% gratuity, but we don't sail until November 20, 2011. I can assure you, I will not be paying another 15% gratuity for my beverage package at the end of our cruise. They should ask for a refund!
