  1. If it's for them (the crew) then they don't need it. If it's for you to make you feel better about yourself because you helped a poor crew member, then they don't need it. Cash is just fine. They need it, and you'll feel better about giving.
  2. Have you addressed with them that you unknowingly filed the claim under Trip Interruption rather than Trip Delay? It could very well be that Trip Interruption department doesn't play well with the Trip Delay department. Kind of like filing a warranty repair for your refrigerator with the car dealer. Maybe the delay is the Trip Interruption people don't know how to handle the claim since it has nothing to do with Trip Interruption. Might be worth a call and a mia culpa.

  6. CruiseCritic itself is dying. I give it 5 more years unless they can make some major changes. They used to be a leader in the cruise community, but other social media sites have aged CC out. Yes, the Roll Call section is less popular than it used to be. Yes, some of the roll calls may still be viable, but those are for cruise lines where the population can barely use a mobile smart phone, let alone navigate all the new social media sites.
  7. When booking or just researching, look for "Multi-City". You may have to click on Advanced Search to find the option of multi-city.
  8. Yes I figure I'll get it when it gets here. Cruise lines aren't usually really quick about issuing refunds and credit card companies aren't the quickest to post a refund. Not too worried about it though.

  11. I first got interested in CruiseCritic when it was nothing more than a dedicated AOL Chat Room. Back then it was a very friendly place where you could do some research and ask some questions. It wasn't quit as harsh back then. But, as the internet grew, so did CC. Along with the good stuff with internet growth, CC absorb some of the bad also. Me included. I've had my hand slapped a couple of times. Unfortunately, CC has about run its course what with the growth and popularity of other social media sites.
  12. Free @ Sea Plus vs More @ Sea We have a cruise scheduled on the Breakaway for Aug 2025. We booked the cruise in April 2023 We purchased and paid for Free at Sea Plus in March of 2024 Then, of course, NCL did away with Free @ Sea and instituted More @ Sea An initial email made it sound like we would be refunded our Free @ Sea Plus purchase and changed over to the More @ Sea. Then, we received another e-mail that made it sound like we would not be refunded and that we would keep our Free @ Sea Plus. I interpreted the e-mail that way. My wife did not interpret the e-mail that way. Anyway, we have NOT been refunded the Free @ Sea Plus money AND if we log into ncl.com, it appears we still have Free @ Sea Plus. Can anyone confirm or have input on these changes? Do I still have Free @ Sea Plus? Or, not enough time has passed for the changes to be implemented, and I can expect More @ Sea once ncl gets around to completing the changes. Thanks.

  14. The basic issue is that Travel Insurance standards are regulated at the State level. Depending upon where you live can have an impact on what coverages you can get, and which coverages are not possible. In Washington, I'm fortunate that I don't have to cover all non-refundable expenses to receive a waiver for pre-existing conditions. Therefore, I concern myself more with what loss or expense will possibly bankrupt me. The loss of expenses for the cost of the cruise will not bankrupt me. The cost of air travel will not bankrupt me. The cost of emergency medical care and evacuation could lead me to a world of financial devastation. I insure whatever I need to ensure that I have a high financial limit on medical and evacuation. Purchasing a policy such as this gives me the coverage I require, while at the same time giving me a little coverage for the other stuff.

  17. Part of the problem might be that you filed this as "Trip Interruption" rather than "Trip Delay". These are the definitions as I understand them. Trip Interruption Insurance coverage: You, a family member or a traveling companion gets hurt or sick during your trip and you have to return home early. Trip interruption means after you leave home. Our plans reimburse you the unused insured value of your trip and the cost of one-way airfare up to the plan’s limit. A Trip Delay forces you to have extra meal and accommodation expenses when you are delayed up to 3 to 12 hours (varies by plan) getting to your destination or returning home as scheduled. Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice I know, semantics right? Just because you filed the claim under the wrong claim form, they should understand what you meant. I, from a personal standpoint, agree and understand. From a corporate policy/travel insurance giant who doesn't want to incur any losses..... I can see why they are playing the long game
  18. I'm aware of some discount/offer codes, but I earned those codes legitimately. I'm not just going to share those codes nilly willy on the internet. If I did, the value to legitimate customers would be negligible.
  19. I've got a few ideas. I also have Medicare, and I also receive 99% of my healthcare thru the VA. My travel insurance needs vary depending on each trip. If I'm taking an Alaska cruise, I don't take any insurance. I absorb the risk of the cost of the trip itself, and Medicare/VA will cover me in Alaska. Caribbean cruise, I pretty much absorb the risk for the cost of the cruise, but purchase insurance that will cover for medical and evacuation. For European cruises or trips, I'll purchase insurance that covers about 1/2 the cost of the trip. I self-insure the other half, but the plan also includes the medical and evacuation. My Opinion Only: CFAR is a great money making marketing scam. After 25 cruises and having never cancelled a cruise for a non-covered reason, at least 1 of my cruises are free just because I saved money by not getting CFAR coverage. Every persons needs are different and every trip is different. As GC said above, call and talk to Steve at TripInsuranceStore.com and figure out what works best for you and your insurance needs.
