  1. We are frequent RCCL passengers, but our last two cruises have been on Disney. You will not be disappointed. The Oasis and Allure are amazing.

I always bring a sport jacket or two, but that is me. I grew up when a tux was required for formal night. Most folks don't wear tuxes, suits or even sport jackets anymore.

Park Cafe is great for embarkation day.

Make sure you and your kids get a ride or two on the Rising Tide (the bar that goes up and down). We usually will try to get drinks there before dinner at least twice. The kids get fascinated with their Kiddie Cocktails as we assend or up to Central Park.

We have been on so many cruises, east, west, southern and Cozumel is still one of our favorite, family friendly places. Nachi Cocom, Mr. Sanchos or even the resort Occidental Grand are wonderful all Inclusives for the day. Just remember to get out of there early because there is some neat shopping near the ship.

Falmoth has a nice shopping area adjacent to the shop. DO NOT venture out on your own. scheldule a tour, or choose an all inclusive resort. We were going to go to the Hyatt Ziva or Jewel Runaway Bay, but we don't arrive until 1030, and my wife prefers to just visit the stores in port and then get back on the ship. Biggest thing in Jamaica port is that the ship seems like it does on a port day, far from empty.

Landyards again are available at adventure ocean for kids. We have so many lanyards, but my wife always picks up some new ones for the two of us at Home Depot or Target.

Have a phenomenon trip. The Oasis is quite and experience. Lots of great snacks on the Royal promenade.

  2. We have almost the same situation. We are frequent RCCL passengers, but our last 2 cruises were on Disney. Our kids are 9 and 6. The last time on Allure, our draughts who ws then 7 loved the club. the biggest plus we find with the RCCL club is that they do take the kids out of the club, and go around the ship. We loved the Disney concept, but we couldn't understand why they never took the kids around the ship to basketball court etc.

  3. We have done both RCCL and Disney with a 5 year old. This March we are doing the Oasis with our 6 and 9 year old. Disney kids club is incredible, consistently! RCCL is hit or miss depending on staff, and if you have multiple children who may not be together because RCCL splits up kids age groups whereas Disney does not. Our kids are very excited for the cruise, but our 9 year old is acting hesitant, due to the fact she won't be with her brother. The big plus with RCCL is that they do take the kids out of the club on parades, to sports court and around the ship. On Disney they do not leave the club ever. I ultimately, you can't go wrong either way. My wife will only pick either Disney or RCCl unit kids get older. Ship wise for RCCL, I would say Freedon class, oasis class, or Quantum class.

  4. Thank you for all this help. The only available cabins in B1 are 14303 and 307. One is an accessible cabin, and I cannot feel right about taking that cabin. Coincidentally, We have a third cabin in which my father in law, who is in a wheel chair is staying in with my mother in law. It is a D2 on the 6 deck.

I knew the bridge was there, mbut I didn't realize just how bad the cabins actually would be.

  5. We are going on the Oasis and staying in 14325 and 14323. I have heard such negativity on these cabins, but there are no other connecting balcony cabins available on our sailing. Can we see the Aqua Theater at all? Can we see any ocean at all? We know they aren't great cabins, but this was our only choice. Does ANYONE have any pictures from the balcony of any of these cabins???

  6. Does anyone know if they show Dreamworks premiers on RCCL. We will be on the Oasis when the new Dreamworks Movie HOME is released. The last time we were on Disney, Captain America was released while on ship, and we saw the released movie was shown on board. It was pretty cool. Does anyone know if RCCL will do or has done the same thing with Dreamworks movies?

  7. We will be sailing in March over Spring Break on the Oasis with our 6 year old and 9 year old. We have already inquired with a Diamond rep who said they will move the older to the younger group, but it is a one time change. They cannot go back and forth. So in turn she said to leave our kids alone with their age groups for a day and see how it goes. If our 9 year old really wants to be with her brother, do the switch then and make sure she realizes she can't go back.

We were on the Fantasy last year, and while our kids were there together, they did their own thing not with each other.

Our hope is that they will just spend at least a little time in the kids club, not only to give us a little alone time, but also to meet other kids and make their cruise even better.

Last time on the allure, our little one was too young for the kids club. Our daughter avoided it for the first 4 days, and then she actually was sorry she didn't go more.

We were actually very impressed with both Disney and Rccl program. Advantage Disney is the kids have so much variety to choose from. Advantage Rccl is that the kids actually do leave the club for sports on the sports court and parade participation.

  8. We will be on the Oasis in March with our 9 year old and 6 year old. My daughter's favorite place on the Allure was the little circle pool with the current. It freaked me out then and the thought of it freaks me out now, but I know the kids love it.

We were recently on the Disney Fantasy with Life Guards. It was wonderful knowing they were there, but we still were on top of our kids all the time. As much as you may worry about your kids and hover over them, things happen. The Fantasy had an issue 2 years ago with a drowning boy, which prompted them to initiate the life guard. It is a wonderful idea, and I do not understand why all lines haven't followed suit.

My heart goes out to this family. I want to cry just thinking of it. Kids will be kids. You may look away for a second, you may be laying out their towel to make sure they are warm the moment they get out of the pool, you may be helping your other child take their shoes off, but how can you prevent a kid from being a kid? Please don't blame the parents. These folks lives may be forever changed!

  9. My family will be traveling with my in-laws on the Oasis in March. My Father-in-law is in a wheelchair and we are looking for some excursion suggestions in Falmouth, Cozumrl and Labadee, for he and my mother-in-law. I can't find if there is anything for him to do in Labadee. I do remember from past visits of seeing folks in wheel chairs on the far side of the island. Royal Caribbean has some options in Jamaica, but I am trying to see what else they can do. Any help would be much appreciated.
